On the reliability of predictions on Covid-19 dynamics: A systematic and critical review of modelling techniques

Since the emergence of the novel 2019 coronavirus pandemic in December 2019(COVID-19),numerous modellers have used diverse techniques to assess the dynamics of transmission of the disease,predict its future course and determine the impact of different control *** this study,we conducted a global systematic literature review to summarize trends in the modelling techniques used for Covid-19 from January 1st,2020 to november 30th,*** further examined the accuracy and precision of predictions by comparing predicted and observed values for cumulative cases and deaths as well as uncertainties of these *** an initial 4311 peer-reviewed articles and preprints found with our defined keywords,242 were fully *** studies were done on Asian(78.93%)and European(59.09%)*** of them used compartmental models(namely SIR and SEIR)(46.1%)and statistical models(growth models and time series)(31.8%)while few used artificial intelligence(6.7%),Bayesian approach(4.7%),network models(2.3%)and Agent-based models(1.3%).For the number of cumulative cases,the ratio of the predicted over the observed values and the ratio of the amplitude of confidence interval(CI)or credibility interval(CrI)of predictions and the central value were on average larger than 1 indicating cases of inaccurate and imprecise predictions,and large variation across *** was no clear difference among models used for these two *** 75%of predictions that provided CI or CrI,observed values fall within the 95%CI or CrI of the cumulative cases *** 3.7%of the studies predicted the cumulative number of *** 70%of the predictions,the ratio of predicted over observed cumulative deaths was less or close to ***,the Bayesian model made predictions closer to reality than classical statistical models,although these differences are only suggestive due to the small number of predictions within our dataset(9 in total).In addition,we found a significant neg

The increasing demand in the diverse device applications of transparent conducting oxides （TCOs） requires synthesis of new TCOs of n- or p-type conductivity. This article is about materials engineering of ZnO-SnO2- In2O3-ga2O3 to synthesize powders of the quaternary compound Zn2-xSn1-xlnxgaxO4-δ in the stoichiometry of x = 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 by solid state reaction at 1275℃. Lattice parameters were determined by X-ray diffraction （XRD） technique and solubility of In3＋ and ga3＋ in spinel Zn2SnO4 was found at 1275℃. The solubility limit of In3＋ and ga3＋ in Zn2SnO4 is found at below x = 0.4. The optical transmittance approximated by the UV-Vis reflectance spectra showed excellent characteristics while optical band gap was consistent across 3.2 eV with slight decrease along increasing x value. Carrier mobility of the species was considerably higher than the older versions of zinc stannate spinel co-substitutions whereas the carrier concentrations were moderate.

Linseed （Linum usitatissimum L.） is an important dual-purpose, industrial crop. Its seeds are used for the extraction of oil and stem for fibres. However, the production of linseed is not going parallel with the increasing demand of its products. The present work was carried out with an aim to find out whether exogenous application of gibberellic acid （ga3） with or without graded levels of nitrogen （n） and phosphorus （p） could improve the performance of three linseed genotypes parvati, Shekhar and Shubhra together with minimizing the costly fertilizer input and losses. Four combinations of n and p, viz., 0 mg n＋0 mg p kg-1 soil （n0p0）, n13.4 p4.46 , n26.8p8.94 and n40.2p13.4 were constituted. Half dose of each combination was applied basally at the time of sowing and remaining half dose was given at 40 d after sowing （DAS） as foliar spray along with 10-6 mol L-1 ga3 . prior to sowing, the seeds of each linseed genotype were grouped in to two, one group of seeds was soaked in 0 mol L-1 ga3 （control） and the other group was soaked in 10-6 M ga3 solution, each for 8 hours. Treatments were comprised of （i） 0 mol L-1 ga3＋n0p0 （T0 , control）, （ii） 10-6 mol L-1 ga3 ＋ n13.4p4.46 （T1）, （iii） 10-6 mol L-1 ga 3 ＋n 26.8 p 8.94 （T2） and （iv） 10-6 mol L-1 ga3＋n40.2p13.4 （T3）. The crop performance was assessed in terms of growth, physiological and biochemical parameters at 60 and 75 DAS and yield attributes at harvest （175 DAS）. The results showed a parallel increase in most of the parameters with increasing levels of n and p. However, application of 10-6 mol L-1 ga3 in association with n26.8p8.94 proved best, it enhanced seed yield, oil yield and fibre yield by 83.3, 97.3 and 78.7%, respectively accompanied with increase in net photosynthetic rate, carbonic anhydrase activity and dry matter accumulation.
