Pregnancy is a unique immunologic and microbial condition that requires an adequate level of awareness to provide a fast and protective response against pathogens as well as to maintain a state of tolerance to paternal *** of inflammatory pathways in the placenta triggered by pathogens is one of the main factors responsible for pregnancy *** I IFNs are key molecules modulating immune responses at the level of the placenta and are crucial for protection of the pregnancy via their antiviral and immune modulatory *** this study,we elucidate the mechanisms controlling the basal expression of IFNβand its negative *** in vitro and in vivo animal models,we found that TLR signaling maintains basal IFNβlevels through the TLR4-MyD88-independent TBK/IRF3 signaling *** describe the role of the TAM receptor Axl in the regulation of IFNβfunction in human and mouse trophoblast *** absence of TAM receptors in vivo is associated with fetal demise due to dysregulation of IFNβexpression and its pro-apoptotic downstream ***,our data describe a feedback signaling pathway controlling the expression and function of IFNβin the trophoblast that is essential for an effective response during viral and microbial infections.

Biochar(BC)has gained attention for removal of toxic elements(TEs)from aqueous media;however,pristine biochar often exhibits low adsorption ***,various modification strategies in BC have been developed to improve its removal capability against *** zero-valent iron(nZVI)and iron oxides(Feox)have been used as sorbents for TE ***,these materials are prone to agglomeration and also expensive,which make their usage limited for large-scale *** nZVI technical demerits could be resolved by the development of BC-based composite sorbents through the loading of nZVI or Feox onto BC *** zero-valent iron modified BC(nZVIBC),Feox-modified BC(FeoxBC)have attracted attention for their capability in removing pollutants from the aqueous ***,a potential use of nZVIBC and FeoxBC for TE removal from aqueous environments has not been well-realized or *** such,this article reviews:(i)the preparation and characterization of nZVIBC and FeoxBC;(ii)the capacity of nZVIBC and FeoxBC for TE retention in line with their physicochemical properties,and(iii)TE removal mechanisms by nZVIBC and *** nZVI and Feox in BC increases its sporptive capability of TEs due to surface modifications in morphology,functional groups,and elemental *** combined effects of BC and nZVI,Feox or Fe salts on the sorption of TEs are complex because they are very specific to *** review identified significant opportunities for research and technol-ogy advancement of nZVIBC and FeoxBC as novel and effective sorbents for the remediation of TEs contaminated water.

Surgical Technique Affects the Incidence of Marginal Ulceration after Roux-en-y in Gastric Bypass

Background: Marginal ulceration (MU) is a recognized complication of Roux-en-y gastric bypass (RyGB) surgery. While several possible risk factors have been reported, the mechanism of MU remains incompletely understood. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of surgical technique on the incidence of MU. Methods and Material: This was a retrospective study of 749 patients undergoing RyGB over a ten-year period with at least one year of follow-up. The diagnosis of MU was made based on clinical symptoms and confirmed by postoperative endoscopy (PoE). We assessed four different gastric bypass (GBP) techniques: T1—open, non-divided stomach, circular stapler, non-vagotomy (n = 332);T2—open, divided stomach, circular stapler, vagotomy (n = 91);T3—Laparoscopic, divided, circular stapler, vagotomy (n = 152);T4—Laparoscopic, divided, linear stapler, vagotomy (n = 174). Results: The four groups were similar with respect to age and mean BMI. The frequency of PoE was 16%, 25%, 28% and 27% in groups T1-T4 respectively (NS). The incidence of MU was significantly lower in T1 (2.1%) compared to T2 (5.5%), T3 (15.1%) and T4 (12.6%), p 0.05. MU occurred significantly more frequently with an antecolic Roux limb versus retrocolic (14.5% vs 5.6%, p 0.05). Conclusion: The incidence of MU after RyGB surgery is influenced by surgical technique. The lowest incidence of MU was with a non-divided stomach, no vagotomy, transverse staple line, and circular stapled anastomosis. A retrocolic Roux limb was protective. There was no difference in the incidence of MU using laparoscopic versus open bypass if a similar technique was employed or using linear versus circular stapler for the gastrojejunostomy.

Atomic layer infiltration technology allows the formation of a nanometer-thick polymer-inorganic hybrid barrier layer in polymer material for flexible organic light-emitting diode(oLED)*** this study,according to transmission electron microscopy and secondary-ion mass spectrometry analysis results under various process conditions,a compact polymer-inorganic hybrid nanolayer was successfully formed in a polymer and good barrier performance was revealed with a low water vapor transmission rate under optimal process ***,through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry measurements after ultra-violet radiation testing,polymer out-gassing decreased compared to bare *** on barrier properties,the polymer with a polymer-inorganic hybrid barrier nanolayer was applied to a flexible oLED display as a *** storage tests and folding tests,the flexible oLED display exhibits good reliability and better flexibility compared to those with an inorganic barrier *** results confirm that the polymer-inorganic hybrid nanolayer is suitable for barrier layer formation in flexible oLED displays.

在最近的市场上基础油的品质亟需有大幅度的改进。尤其是发动机油需要有高质量的基础油,以满足ACEA规格、ILSAC GF-3和即将颁布的ILSAC GF-4规格挥发度的日趋严格的要求。为了满足这类新提出的要求,采用来自燃料油加氢裂化装置塔底组分的VHVI基础油的配方可能比采用其他高质量基础油如PAo油的配方在成本上较为低廉。SK公司所开发的深度加氢裂化和加氢异构化脱蜡工艺(名为UCo润滑油工艺)是生产高品质VHVI基础油的一种较为经济的加氢精制路线。UCo润滑油工艺的产品质量能达到PAo的通用性能或与之相当。根据以VHVI 基础油即UCo润滑油工艺生产的基础油进行的一项应用研究的结果,ACEA A3／B3 SAE 10W／40配方中的15％PAo可以用18%的VHVI基础油来代替。而且在不用PAo油的条件下,完全用VHVI油也能够开发出符合最新ACEA规格和欧洲oEM要求的5W／40粘度等级的高品质发动机油。由于市场上已经能供应高粘度的VHVI基础油。我们也对高粘度VHVI基础油用于10W／40和15W／40发动机油配方中d的增粘作用进行了研究,并发现配方中500中性基础油和粘度指数改进剂的用量可以大幅度减少。由于VHVI基础油的供应量上升,对它们的需求量也随之迅速增加。VHVI基础油的供应能力还有很大的潜力,但价格难以保持目前的高水平。由于环保法规的日趋严格和VHVI基础油的成本优势,预期VHVI基础油的用量会继续增加,并且将开发出更多适用于VHVI基础油的添加剂。
