Perceptions of fishers to sea turtle bycatch,illegal capture and consumption in the San Ignacio-Navachiste-Macapule lagoon complex,Gulf of California,Mexico

In this study, 10% of all registered fishermen in the coastal towns of Navachiste in Sinaloa, in northwestern Mexico, answered a survey designed to collect data on their perceptions of the following topics: the impact of turtle meat consumption;human health;bycatch;illegal turtle fishing;the illegal sea turtle market;the lo-cal economy;pollution;environmental education;the success of protective legislation;and sea turtle-based ec-otourism. Perceptions were analyzed using the fuzzy logic method through classification into 5 fuzzy member-ship sets: VL, very low;L, low;M, moderate;H, high;VH, very high. The 9 topics generated decision areas upon applying fuzzy inference that revealed the membership level of the answers in each fuzzy set. The eco-nomic potential of sea turtle-based ecotourism and the economic profitability of the illegal turtle meat market were perceived as VL. Conservation legislation was perceived as H, although inefficiently applied due to cor-ruption. ecotourism and impacts on sea turtles were perceived as VL, because they were deemed unprofitable activities at the individual and community levels. environmental education was perceived as L, because it cen-ters on nesting, hatching and releasing turtles and is directed at elementary and middle-school students. While fishers perceive a serious negative impact of fishing activities on sea turtles in the San Ignacio-Navachiste- Macapule area, they do not see themselves individually as part of the problem. Achieving sea turtle conserva-tion in this region requires: suitable ecotourism infrastructure, government investments in promotion, and stud-ies to estimate the minimum number of tourists needed to assure profitability.

This paper studies the relation between Islam as a religion and ideology on the one hand,and Islamic terrorism and the radicalization of the Middle east on the other *** purpose of this study is to examine the motivation and justification of Islamic terrorism which are provided by the Islamic terrorists themselves through their religious scripture and ideological texts and ***,the research expands to examine the role of that specific religious ideology in shaping the main common features,patterns,and characteristics of the majority of Islamic terrorist groups and *** research utilizes qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze relevant data from various fields and *** study of terrorism is an interdisciplinary one that benefits from the literature and research traditions in politics,sociology,psychology,philosophy,and religious studies amongst many other ***,my research attempts to engage in the basic discourse in those fields in a limited manner that focuses narrowly on the connection between the Islamic doctrine and Islamic terrorism within the geographical borders of the Middle east *** paper benefits from the analysis and evaluation of qualitative and quantitative data acquired from religious,historical,political,and sociological sources which enjoy a great deal of authenticity and credibility.

Assembly structures of coastal woody species of eastern South America:Patterns and drivers

Tropical regions have provided new insights into how ecological communities are *** dry coastal communities,water stress has been hypothesized to determine plant assembly structure by favoring preadapted lineages from neighboring ecosystems,consistent with functional ***,it is unclear whether this hypothesis is sufficient to explain how coastal communities in tropical ecosystems are ***,we test whether water stress or other factors drive community assembly in woody plant communities across the coastal zone of Brazil,a tropical *** characterized functional and phylogenetic structures of these communities and determined the underlying environmental factors(e.g.,water stress,historical climate stability,edaphic constraints,and habitat heterogeneity)that drive their community *** of coastal woody species show geographically varied patterns,including stochastic arrangements,clustering,and overdispersion of species relative to their traits and phylogenetic *** complexity,water vapor pressure,and soil nutrient availability best explained the gradient in the functional *** deficit,water vapor pressure,and soil organic carbon were the best predictors of variation in phylogenetic *** results support the water-stress conservatism hypothesis on functional and phylogenetic structure,as well as the effect of habitat heterogeneity on functional structure and edaphic constraints on functional and phylogenetic *** effects are associated with increased phenotypic and phylogenetic divergence of woody plant assemblages,which is likely mediated by abiotic filtering and niche opportunities,suggesting a complex pattern of ecological assembly.

The Use of a Prototype MRI Safe Glidescope in a Pediatric Patient with CHARGe Syndrome: A Case Report

Introduction: Charge syndrome is a very rare condition with an estimated prevalence of one in ten thousand. The care and treatment of these patients involve an interdisciplinary team. This case reports difficult airway management of a pediatric patient with CHARGe syndrome with an MRI safe glidescope. Case Presentation: A 13-year-old female with a past medical history significant for CHARGe syndrome, lumbar scoliosis, developmental delay, vitiligo, Wenckebach type AV block, intrinsic asthma and pulmonary hemosiderosis was scheduled to undergo an MRI of the spine as preoperative imaging for scoliosis corrective surgery under sedation. The patient desaturated during sedation for IV placement. After a failed attempt at sedation, the patient was then intubated safely with an MRI compatible glidescope. Conclusion: As cases increase in remote locations, it is necessary to have access to alternative devices for intubation of a difficult airway, particularly in MRI facilities where equipment must be compatible with MRI technology.

高昂的燃料价格、化石燃料资源的枯竭以及化石燃料燃烧造成的空气污染,促使科学家和工程师生产出新的、可持续的和更清洁的燃料。生物油和低碳醇可作为替代能源。由于棕榈油和棕榈核油的粘度和密度较高,限制了其在柴油机上的应用,因此本文掺混低碳醇的方法来改善燃料的特性。本研究以甲醇、乙醇等低碳醇,分别与棕榈油、棕榈核油形成混合物。针对混合物互溶性不佳的问题,选择几种助溶剂构建三元混合体系,包括丁醇异构体(正丁醇、仲丁醇和异丁醇)、聚甲醛二甲醚(PODe)和四氢呋喃(THF)。此外,为了研究温度对共混体系的影响,本文选择了不同的实验温度,分别为30°C、40°C、50°C和60°C。结果表明,助溶剂的增溶性能依次为THF>PODe>正丁醇>仲丁醇>异丁醇。此外,随着温度的升高,增溶作用也增加,丁醇的同分异构体>PODe>THF所需的助溶剂量增加。针对上述燃料掺混的实验结果,结合生命周期评价理论,对以棕榈油和棕榈核油为原料生产的掺混燃料(PBF)的全生命周期过程进行了评价研究。对油棕种植与收获、粗油的提取、精炼、运输、燃料掺混等生命周期要素进行了评价。能量分析结果表明,棕榈油和棕榈核油掺混燃料的净能量值和净能量比分别为18.561 MJ/(kg PBF)和3.867。主要能耗来自粗油提取阶段蒸汽部分,占总能耗的30.6%。电是能源消耗的第二大贡献者,占26.9%。通过对比不同种类能源的能效发现PBF具有更高的能效。这对缓解能源危机和减少环境污染具有重要意义。

Objective: To determine anti-viral activities of three Artocarpus species: Artocarpus altilis, Artocarpus camansi, and Artocarpus heterophyllus (A. heterophyllus) against Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). Methods: Antiviral activities of the crude extracts were examined by cell culture method using Huh7it-1 cells and HCV genotype 2a strain JFH1. The mode of action for anti-HCV activities was determined by time-of-addition experiments. The effect on HCV RNA replication and HCV accumulation in cells were analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR and western blotting, respectively. Results: The dichloromethane (DCM) extract of A. heterophyllus exhibited strong anti-HCV activity with an inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of (1.5 ± 0.6)μg/mL without obvious toxicity. The DCM extracts from Artocarpus altilis and Artocarpus camansi showed moderate anti-HCV activities with IC50 values being (6.5 ± 0.3) μg/mL and (9.7 ± 1.1) μg/mL, respectively. A time-of-addition studies showed that DCM extract from A. heterophyllus inhibited viral entry process though a direct virucidal activity and targeting host cells. HCV RNA replication and HCV protein expression were slightly reduced by the DCM treatment at high concentration. Conclusions: The DCM extract from A. heterophyllus is a good candidate to develop an antiviral agent to prevent HCV grant reinfection following liver transplantation.

优良的教学工作标准,是用评价手段来反映的,而评价教学工作的客观系统,却极少使用。所以,对一位教师的教学工作成绩的评价,常常凭视导员的主观反应来决定。一些现行的教学工作成绩评价表,无法充分反映一位教师的真正能力。结果是,这些评价表总是不能达到改进教师教学工作这一主要目的。用来评定第二语言教师工作成绩的表格极少,且偏于理论,不重实用。另外,为使教师能会使用,还需对表格使用者作广泛的训练。这些表格也并未为第二语言教师提供一个实用的手段,以帮助他们指出自己的长处和缺点。

Recent work has shown that the vaginal microbiome exerts a strong impact on women's gynecological ***,collection of vaginal specimens is invasive and requires previous clinical training or the involvement of a trained *** contrast,urine sample collection is routine and noninvasive and does not require involvement of a *** sought to compare the vaginal and urogenital microbiomes to assess the utility of voided urine samples as a proxy for the vaginal *** urogenital and vaginal samples were collected from pregnant women and characterized by 16S rRNA taxonomic *** examined diversities and compositions of paired urogenital and vaginal microbiomes using five discrete strategies to explore the similarity between the vaginal and urogenital microbiomes.A strategy comparing the paired urogenital and vaginal microbiomes in which taxa were assigned using the STIRRUPS database and urine-specific taxa were removed showed no significant difference in diversity and composition between the paired urogenital and vaginal ***,the relative abundances of common vaginal taxa were linearly correlated with those in the paired *** similarities suggest that voided urine samples could represent a noninvasive protocol for accurate profiling of the vaginalmicrobiome with likely clinical ***,a machine learning model was established in which the voided urine microbiome was compared favorably to the vaginal microbiome in predicting bacterial vaginosis.
