Background:Extended-release buprenorphine(XR)is indicated for pain management in rodents,but little is known about its use in *** study aimed to investigate whether high dose XR effectively attenuates post-operative hypersensitivity better than low dose XR in a mouse model of incisional ***:Mice(n 44)were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 treatment groups:(a)saline(1 ml/kg sC,once);(b)sustained release buprenorphine(Bup-sR,1 mg/kg sC,once);(c)low dose extended-release buprenorphine(XR-lo,3.25 mg/kg sC,once);(d)high dose extended-release buprenorphine(XR-hi,6.5 mg/kg sC,once).On days􀆴1,0(4 hours),1,2,and 3,mechanical and thermal hypersensitivities were evaluated,and plasma buprenorphine concentrations were ***:Mechanical(days 0-2)and thermal(days 0-1)hypersensitivities were ob-served in the saline ***-sR,XR-lo,and XR-hi attenuated mechanical hyper-sensitivity on days 0,1,and *** of the treatment groups,except XR-Lo on day 0,attenuated thermal hypersensitivity on days 0 or *** buprenorphine concen-tration peaked at 4 hours(day 0)in all treatment groups and remained greater than 1 ng/mL on days *** abnormal clinical observations or gross pathologic findings were seen in any ***:The results indicate XR-hi did not effectively attenuate post-operative hypersensitivity better than *** both 3.25 and 6.5 mg/kg XR are recom-mended for attenuating post-operative hypersensitivity for at least up to 48 hours in mice.

Owing to a predicted rise in temperature,increase in precipitation and the escalating anthropogenic stresses,the Himalayan ecosystems are the most threatened non-polar regions of the *** the past,there have been racing extinctions and range shifts of several life forms in this region,particularly of the plant ***,consistent qualitative and quantitative records on botanical baseline data on a regular basis are *** current communication attempts to provide a detailed account on the current state of knowledge and research gaps in floristic studies of Himachal Pradesh,Western *** on an extensive review of more than 140 studies in the form of scientific peer reviewed literature on floristics,medicinal and aromatic plants(MAPs),rare,endangered,threatened and endemic species and ethno-botany,it is revealed that the number of floristic studies in Himachal Pradesh have surged in the past years but studies pertaining to the lower plants remain ***,the remote valleys including micro-watersheds lying in the coldarid regions are relatively less studied in terms of available growing stock and population status of *** traditional ethno-botanical knowledge has been the major concern and,many threatened MAPs need to be accessed globally following IUCN ***,documentation of the conservation status of key MAPs,setting aside conservation areas around viable populations of threatened species,developing germplasm banks of the priority MAPs and monitoring the impacts of climate change has been suggested.

Population ageing is a worldwide phenomenon,but the speed and scale of ageing are much greater in China than in most other *** paper discusses the key demographic indicators of the population in China and provides a comparison with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD)*** evolution of the Chinese pension system is summarised before concentrating on the current structure for both public-and private-sector workers as well as rural and urban *** level of future pension promises for full career workers is calculated and compared with those of selected OECD *** future challenges are highlighted as China seeks to achieve an adequate and sustainable pension *** paper highlights the issue of high level of pensioner poverty in comparison to many OECD countries as well as the low retirement age,particularly for women,despite China’s relatively high employment rates for older workers.

AIM:To assess the incidence of mitral valve prolapse in patients with newly diagnosed primary open angle ***:The study included 12 patients without any other comorbidities or taking any general or local *** patient underwent a full ophthalmological examination with visual field assessment and optical computed tomography of the macula and optic nerve *** Doppler ultrasound was performed to exclude impaired blood flow in this region and transthoracic echocardiography with assessment of the function and morphology of the heart ***:In the study group,mitral valve prolapse was found in seven patients(58.3%),while mitral valve regurgitation in 11 patients(91.7%).One case of normal pressure glaucoma and four cases of juvenile glaucoma were *** were also other risk factors for glaucoma:myopia(58.3%),migraine headaches(41.7%),a positive family history of glaucoma(16.7%).CONCLUsION:Mitral valve prolapse could be indicated as a new risk factor for *** seems reasonable to conduct screening tests for glaucoma in patients with mitral valve prolapse in the course of echocardiography.

Combined effects of gallic acid and propolis on beryllium-induced hepatorenal toxicity

The combined effect of gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxy benzoic acid;GA;50 mg kg^(-1) i.p.) and propolis (200 mg kg^(-1)p.o.)was evaluated against beryllium-induced biochemical and morphological alterations in the liver and kidney. Femalealbino rats were exposed to beryllium nitrate (1 mg kg^(-1)i.p.) daily for 28 days followed by treatment with the abovementioned therapeutic agents either individually or in combination for five consecutive days. Exposure to berylliumincreased its concentration in the serum, liver and kidney and caused significant alterations in cytochrome P450enzymes, microsomal lipid peroxidation and protein contents. Beryllium administration significantly altered theaspartate aminotransaminase, alanine aminotransaminase, lactate dehydrogenase, -glutamyl transpeptidase,bilirubin, creatinine and urea in serum, and the activity of acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, adenosinetriphosphatase, glucose-6-phophatase and succinic dehydrogenase, triglycerides, cholesterol, protein contents,glycogen contents, lipid peroxidation and glutathione level in the liver and kidney. Beryllium exposure inducedsevere alterations in hepatorenal morphology, revealing its toxic consequences at a cellular level. Individual administrationof GA and propolis reduced the effects on the studied parameters to a degree. Interestingly, GA in conjunctionwith propolis reversed the alterations in all of the variables examined, highlighting the beneficial effects ofcombined therapy over monotherapy in the alleviation of beryllium-induced systemic toxicity.
