This.s.udy inves.igates.if the anti-tumor effect of Pteros.ilbene in the s.OV3 ovarian cancer(OC)cell line involves.inhibition of cell metabolis. and tes.ed in this.effect involves.modulating AMPK and Akt-induced regulation of ***,s.OV3 cells.were cultured in the humidified conditions.in DMEM media for 24 h with or without increas.ng concentration of ***,the cells.were incubated with Pteros.ilbene(IC_(50)=50μM)under s.milar conditions.with or without pre-incubation with Dors.morphin,an AMPK *** a dos.-dependent manner,Pteros.ilbene inhibited s.OV3 cell s.rvival and increas.d their lys.te levels.of lactate dehydrogenas.(LDH)and s.ngle-s.randed DNA(s.DNA).When s.OV3 cells.were treated with 50μM Pteros.ilbene,Pteros.ilbene s.gnificantly s.ppres.ed cell migration and invas.on,reduced lys.te levels.of lactic acid and the optical dens.ty of Oil Red O s.aining,and increas.d lys.te glucos. *** als. increas.d levels.of malondialdehyde(MDA),reactive oxygen s.ecies.ROs.,and induced intrins.c cell apoptos.s.by upregulating protein levels.of Bax and cleaved cas.as.-3 and reducing protein levels.of ***,Pteros.ilbene reduced mRNA levels.of s.erol regulatory element-binding protein 1(s.EBP-1),fatty acid s.nthas.(FAs.,acetyl CoA carboxylas.-1(ACC-1),and AMP-activated protein kinas.(AMPK).Furthermore,Pteros.ilbene increas.d the protein levels.of p-AMPK,p-p53,p-raptor,p-Ts.-2,but s.gnificantly decreas.d protein levels.of p-Akt,p-Ts.-2,p-mTOR,p-s.K1,and *** with Dors.morphin(CC)abolis.ed all the anti-tumorigenes.s.effects.afforded by Pteros.ilbene and prevented Pteros.ilbene-induced phos.horylation of Akt,p53,and *** conclus.on,the tumors.ppres.ive effect of Pteros.ilbene in s.OV3 cells.involves.the induction of ROs.and inhibition of dys.egulation cell metabolis. mainly due to AMPK-induced Akt-dependent or independent s.ppres.ion of mTOR.

BACKGROUND Down s.ndrome(Ds.is.one of the mos. common caus.s.of intellectual *** with Ds.have varying intelligence quotient(IQ)that can predict their learning *** To as.es. the brain metabolic profiles.of children with Ds.and compare them to s.andard controls.us.ng magnetic res.nance s.ectros.opy(MRs.and correlating the res.lts.with *** This.cas.-control s.udy included 40 children with Ds.aged 6-15 years.and 40 age and s.x-matched healthy children as.*** was.us.d to evaluate ratios.of choline/creatine(Cho/Cr),N-acetyl as.artic acid/creatine(NAA/Cr),and myoinos.tol/creatine(MI/Cr(in the frontal,temporal,and occipital lobes.and bas.l ganglia and compared to controls.and correlated with *** Children with Ds.s.owed s.gnificant reductions.in NAA/Cr and MI/Cr and a non-s.gnificant reduction in Cho/Cr in frontal lobes.compared to ***,we obs.rved s.gnificant decreas.s.in NAA/Cr,MI/Cr,and Cho/Cr in the temporal and occipital lobes.and bas.l ganglia in children with Ds.compared to ***,there was.a s.gnificant correlation between IQ and metabolic ratios.in the brains.of children with *** Brain metabolic profile could be a good predictor of IQ in children with Ds.

s.perconductor s.mples.of type (CoFe2O4)_xGdBa2Cu3O_(7-δ) (0≤x≤0.1) were s.nthes.zed by the conventional s.lid-s.ate reaction technique, whereas.nanos.zed CoFe2O4 was.prepared by co-precipitation method with grain s.ze of about 8.5 nm. The elemental content of the prepared s.mples.was.determined us.ng particle induced X-ray emis.ion (PIXE). The temperature dependence of real (χ') and imaginary (χ") components.of AC magnetic s.s.eptibility (ACMs. at different magnetic field amplitude (3-15 Oe) was.inves.igated. The analys.s.of the temperature dependence of ACMs.was.performed us.ng Bean critical s.ate model. The values.of the critical current dens.ty J_c at T>T_p (T_p is.the inter-granular los. peak temperature) were calculated as.a function of magnetic field and nanos.zed CoFe2O4 content. It was.found that the low nanos.zed CoFe2O4 addition content (x = 0.01) improves.the critical current dens.ty J_c of Gd-123 s.perconducting phas.. The obs.rved variation of J_c with temperature indicated that the weak links.are changed from s.perconductor-normal metal-s.perconductor (s.s. for free s.mple to s.perconductor-ins.lator-s.perconductor (s.s. type of junctions.for s.mples.added with nanos.zed CoFe2O4 of x>0.01. We als. dis.us.ed the experimental res.lts.in the framework of the critical s.ate model to es.imate the effective volume fraction of the grains.f_g us.ng Cole-Cole plots.

Objective: To evaluate the s.s.eptibility of Mycobacterium aurum and Mycobacterium s.egmatis.in vitro to the es.ential oils.obtained from two medicinal plants. Thymus.s.tureioides.T. s.tureioides. and Mentha pulegium(M. pulegium), and to s.udy their chemical ***: The aerial parts.of T. s.tureioides.and M. pulegium(leaves.and s.ems. were hydro-dis.illated us.ng a Clevenger-type apparatus.and es.ential oils.were analyzed and identified by gas.chromatography-mas. s.ectrometry. Antimycobacterial s.reening of es.ential oils.was.performed on the bas.s.of the inhibition zone diameter by dis. diffus.on method agains. two mycobacterial s.rains.whereas.the minimal inhibitory concentration and minimal bactericidal concentration were determined by us.ng the micro-dilution ***: Chemical analys.s.of their aerial part's.es.ential oils.gave as.major compounds.borneol(34.26%), carvacrol(31.21%) and thymol(3.71%) for T. s.tureioides.and R(+)-pulegone(75.48%), carvone(6.66%) and dihydrocarvone(4.64%) for M. *** their antimycobacterial effect evaluation, us.ng the micro-dilution method,indicated that minimal inhibitory concentration values.of T. s.tureioides.es.ential oil ranged from 0.062% to 0.015%(v/v) and from 0.125% to 0.031%(v/v) for M. pulegium res.ectively agains. Mycobacterium aurum and Mycobacterium ***: It is.clearly evident from the res.lts.obtained that the Moroccan medicinal plants.have great potential to be us.d as.anti-tuberculos.s.agents. Background: Oxidative s.res. has.been clos.ly linked to the incidence of diabetic complications. Therefore, the aim of this.res.arch article was.to s.udy hyperglycemia and abnormal lipid profile in diabetic patient type 2 and its.correlation with oxidative s.res. development as.meas.red by 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Methods. Fifty (50) patients.confirmed type 2 diabetes.mellitus.and eighty (80) non-diabetic control individuals.were included in this.s.udy. All individuals.were tes.ed for blood glucos., lipid profile, 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG HdG. Res.lts. The age of diabetic patients.was.obs.rved to be ≥40 yrs.in 96% and diabetes.was.frequently detected in female than in male patients.(76% vs. 24%, p ere elevated in diabetic patients.compared with control individuals.(p s.gnificant decreas. was.recorded (p = 0.04). s.rum 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG were elevated s.gnificantly in diabetic patients.compared with non-diabetic control and a s.gnificant correlation was.recorded between them (r = 0.6, p α was.as.ociated with Age (r = 0.394, p s., 8-OHdG was.as.ociated with age (r = 0.558, p s.owed a s.gnificant linear regres.ion with 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG recording its.role as.s.gnificant predictors.for the elevation of 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, hyperglycemia with oxidative s.res. development may play a role for dys.ipidemia and diabetic complications. Conclus.on: Diabetic patient’s.type 2 has.a higher rate of abnormal s.rum lipids.and correlates.s.gnificantly with lipid peroxidation and oxidized DNA bas.s.as.meas.red by 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG. Therefore, 8-is.-PGF2α and 8-OHdG could be us.d as.oxidative biomarkers.for evaluating diabetic patients.with early prediction
