The fluorination reaction involving a β-ketosulfones by Selectfluor^TM was efficiently promoted by the ionic liquid, [Hbim]Bf4 （IL） as a reaction medium with methanol as co-solvent at room temperature under ultrasonic irradiation to afford the corresponding mono and difluoro-β-ketosulfones in excellent yields. The advantages of this method include among others the use of a recyclable, non-volatile ionic liquid, which promotes this protocol under room temperature without the requirement of any added catalyst under ultrasonic irradiation.

Abstract Let T be a Wakamatsu tilting module. A module M is called （n, T）-copure injective （resp. （n, T）-copure flat） if εT^1（N, M） = 0 （resp. Г1^T（N, M） = 0） for any module N with T-injective dimension at most n （see Definition 2.2）. In this paper, it is shown that M is （n, T）-copure injective if and only if M is the kernel of an In（T）-precover f ： A → B with A ∈ ProdT. Also, some results on Prod T-syzygies are presented. for instance, it is shown that every nth Prod T-syzygy of every module, generated by T, is （n, T）-copure injective.

AIM: To investigate the reactivity of a panel of 8 mouse anti-hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) using a collection of 9 recombinant HBsAg mutants with a variety of amino acid substitutions mostly located within the “a” ***: The entire HBs genes previously cloned into a mammalian expression vector were transiently transfected into COS7 cells. Two standard unmutated sequences of the ayw and adw subtypes served as controls. Secreted mutant proteins were collected and measured by three commercial diagnostic immunoassays to assess transfection efficiency. Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs was determined by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).RESULTS: Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs revealed different patterns. While three mutants reacted strongly with all mAbs, two mutants reacted weakly with only two mAbs and the remaining proteins displayed variable degrees of reactivity towards different mAbs. Accordingly, four groups of mAbs with different but overlapping reactivity patterns could be envisaged. One group consisting of two mAbs (37C5-S7 and 35C6-S11) was found to recognize stable linear epitopes conserved in all mutants. Mutations outside the “a” determinant at positions 120 (P→S), 123(T→N) and 161(M→T) were found to affect reactivity of these ***: Our findings could have important implications for biophysical studies, vaccination strategies and immunotherapy of hepatitis B virus (HBV) mutants.

The paper provides an analytical investigation, homotopy analysis method （HAM）, of the heat and mass transfer for magnetohydrodynamic Oldroyd-B nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet in the presence of convective boundary condition. The PDE governing equations, which consist of equations of continuity, momentum, energy and nanoparti- cles, are converted to ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The current HAM solution demonstrates very good correlation with those of the pre- viously published studies in the special cases. The influences of different flow physical parameters such as the Deborah numbers in terms of relaxation and retardation times （/3i, /32）, magnetic parameter （M）, Prandtl number （Pr）, Brownian motion parameter （Nb）, thermophoresis parameter （Nt）, Lewis number （Le）, and Biot number （Bi） on he fluid velocity component （f＇（η））, temperature distribution （θ（η）） and concentration φ（η）） as well as the local Nusselt number （Nux/Rex ） and the local Sherwood number （Shx/Re1/2 ） are discussed in detail.

Extension of Tao-Mason Equation of State to Heavy n-Alkanes

In our previous paper we extended the Tao and Mason equation of state (TM EOS) to refrigerant fluids, using the speed of sound data. This is a continuation for evaluating TM EOS in predicting PVT properties of heavy n-alkanes. Liquid density of long-chain n-alkane systems from C 9 to C 20 have been calculated using an analytical equation of state based on the statistical-mechanical perturbation theory. The second virial coefficients of these n-alkanes are scarce and there is no accurate potential energy function for their theoretical calculation. In this work the second virial coefficients are calculated using a corresponding state correlation based on surface tension and liquid density at the freezing point. The deviation of calculated densities of these alkanes is within 0.5% from experimental data. The densities of n-alkanes obtained from the TM EOS are compared with those calculated from Ihm-Song-Mason equation of state and the corresponding-states liquid densities (COSTALD). Our results are in favor of the preference of the TM EOS over other two equations of state.
