Heterogeneous data,different definitions and incompatible models are a huge problem in many domains,with no exception for the field of energy systems ***,it is hard to re-use results,compare model results or couple models at *** provide a precisely defined vocabulary to build a common and shared conceptu-alisation of the energy ***,we present the Open Energy Ontology(OEO)developed for the domain of energy systems *** the OEO provides several benefits for the ***,it enables consistent annotation of large amounts of data from various research *** example is the Open Energy Platform(OEP).Adding such annotations makes data semantically searchable,exchangeable,re-usable and ***,computational model coupling becomes much *** advantages of using an ontology such as the OEO are demonstrated with three use cases:data representation,data annotation and interface *** also describe how the ontology can be used for linked open data(LOD).

Agenda Setting on FAIR Guidelines in the European Union and the Role of Expert Committees

The FAIR Guidelines were conceptualised and coined as guidelines for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable(FAIR) data at a conference held at the Lorentz Centre in Leiden in 2014. A relatively short period of time after this conference, the FAIR Guidelines made it onto the public policy agenda of the European Union. Following the concept of Kingdon, policy entrepreneurs played a critical role in creating a policy window for this idea to reach the agenda by linking it to the policy of establishing a European Open Science Cloud(EOSC). Tracing the development from idea to policy, this study highlights the critical role that expert committees play in the European Union. The permeability of the complex governance structure is increased by these committees, which allow experts to link up with the institutions and use the committees to launch new ideas. The High Level Expert Groups on the EOSC provided the platform from which the FAIR Guidelines were launched, and this culminated in the adoption of the FAIR Guidelines as a requirement for all European-funded science. As a result, the FAIR Guidelines have become an obligatory part of data management in European-funded research in 2020 and are now followed by other funders worldwide.

FAIR Equivalency with Regulatory Framework for Digital Health in Uganda

This study explores the possibility of opening a policy window for the adoption of the FAIR Guidelines—that data be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable(FAIR)—in Uganda’s e Health sector. Although the FAIR Guidelines were not mentioned in any of the policy documents relevant to Uganda’s e Health sector, the study found that 83% of the documents mentioned FAIR Equivalent efforts, such as the adoption of the National Identification Number(NIN) as a unique identifier in Uganda’s national Electronic Health Management Information System(e HMIS)(findability), the planned/ongoing integration of various information systems(interoperability), and the alignment of various projects with international best practices/standards(reusability). A FAIR Equivalency Score(FE-Score), devised in this study as an aggregate score of the mention of the equivalent of FAIR facets in the policy documents, showed that the documents at the core of Uganda’s digital health/e Health policy have the highest score of all the documents analysed, indicating that there is a degree of alignment between Uganda’s National e Health Vision and the FAIR Guidelines. Therefore, it can be concluded that favourable conditions exist for the adoption and implementation of the FAIR Guidelines in Uganda’s e Health sector. Hence, it is recommended that the FAIR community adopt a capacity building strategy through organisations with a worldwide mandate, such as the World Health Organization, to promote the adoption of the FAIR Guidelines as part of international best practices.

Modelling the dynamics of population viral load measures under HIV treatment as prevention

In 2011 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)published guidelines for the use of population viral load(PVL),community viral load(CVL)and monitored viral load(MVL),defined as the average viral load(VL)of all HIV infected individuals in a population,of all diagnosed individuals,and of all individuals on antiretroviral treatment(ART),*** then,CVL has been used to assess the effectiveness of ART on HIV transmission and as a proxy for HIV *** first objective of this study was to investigate how aggregate VL measures change with the HIV epidemic phase and the drivers behind these changes using a mathematical transmission ***,we aimed to give some insight into how well CVL correlates with HIV incidence during the course of the epidemic and roll out of *** developed a compartmental model for disease progression and HIV transmission with disease stages that differ in viral loads for epidemiological scenarios relevant to a concentrated epidemic in a population of men who have sex with men(MSM)in Western Europe(WE)and to a generalized epidemic in a heterosexual population in Sub-Saharan Africa(SSA).The model predicts that PVL and CVL change with the epidemic phase,while MVL stays *** dynamics are linked to the dynamics of infected subgroups(undiagnosed,diagnosed untreated and treated)in different disease stages(primary,chronic and AIDS).In particular,CVL decreases through all epidemic stages:before ART,since chronic population builds up faster than AIDS population and after ART,due to the build-up of treated population with low *** trends in CVL and incidence can be both opposing and coinciding depending on the epidemic *** ART is scaled up to sufficiently high levels,incidence increases while CVL *** this point,CVL is a useful indicator of changes in HIV *** model predicts that during the ART scale-up HIV transmission is driven by undiagnosed and diagnosed untreated individuals,a

Binaural masking level difference for pure tone signals

The binaural masking level difference(BMLD)is a psychoacoustic method to determine binaural interaction and central auditory *** BMLD is the difference in hearing thresholds in homophasic and antiphasic *** duration,phase and frequency of the stimuli can affect the *** main aim of the study is to evaluate the BMLD for stimuli of different durations and frequencies which could also be used in future electrophysiological *** this end we developed a GUI to present different frequency signals of variable duration and determine the *** different durations and five different frequencies are *** results of the study confirm that the hearing threshold for the antiphasic condition is lower than the hearing threshold for the homophasic condition and that differences are significant for signals of 18ms and 48ms *** objective binaural processing studies will be based on 18ms and 48ms stimuli with the same frequencies as used in the current study.

Association of autoimmune type atrophic corpus gastritis with Helicobacter pylori infection

AIM:To study the association between Helicobacter pylori(***)infection and autoimmune type atrophic gastritis. METHODS:Twenty-three patients with different grades of atrophic gastritis were analysed using enzyme immunoassay-based serology,immunoblot-based serology,and histology to reveal a past or a present *** *** addition,serum markers for gastric atrophy(pepsinogenⅠ,pepsinogenⅠ/Ⅱand gastrin)and autoimmunity[parietal cell antibodies(PCA), and intrinsic factor(IF),antibodies]were determined. RESULTS:Of the 14 patients with severe gastricatrophy,as demonstrated by histology and serum markers,and no evidence for an ongoing *** infection,eight showed *** antibodies by *** eight had elevated PCA and 4/8 also had IF *** the six immunoblot-negative patients with severe corpus atrophy,PCA and IF antibodies were detected in *** the patients with low to moderate grade atrophic gastritis(all except one with an ongoing *** infection),serum markers for gastric atrophy and autoimmunity were seldom ***,one *** negative patient with mild atrophic gastritis had PCA and IF antibodies suggestive of a pre-atrophic autoimmune gastritis. CONCLUSION:Signs of *** infection in autoimmune gastritis,and positive autoimmune serum markers in *** gastritis suggest an etiological role for *** in autoimmune gastritis.

Immunogenetic characteristics of patients with autoimmune gastritis

AIM:To explore whether predisposition to autoimmune gastritis (AIG) is found in human leukocyte antigen (HLA), cytokine or killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) gene ***: Twelve Finnish patients with autoimmunetype severe atrophy of the gastric corpus were included. The patients' serum was analyzed for pepsinogen-interleukin (IL)-1 gene cluster, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, interferon γ, transforming growth factor β, and tumor necrosis factor α. Variation in KIR genes was also explored. The results were compared with prevalence of the polymorphisms in Finnish or European ***: All patients had pepsinogen-CONCLUSION: As explored with modern DNA-based methods, HLA-DRB1*04 and DQB1*03 alleles, but not HLA-B8-DRB1*03, may predispose to AIG.
