Segmented block copolymer based on nylon6 （N6） and polyethylene oxide （PEO） with stochiometric ratio was synthesized via a two-step process. The first step represents end capping of N6 in the presence of adipic acid leading to carboxy terminated N6, and the second one is polycondensation of the latter product with PEO in the presence of catalyst and thermostabilizer to form a high molecular weight multi-block copolymer. Several methods were applied to characterize the synthesized copolyrner such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, differential thermal analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The obtained results confirmed the multi-block structure for copolymer with a very high degree of micro-phase separation. Atomic force microscopy micrographs indicated that the morphology was the dispersion of high stiffness nanostructured polyamide （PA） domains in the amorphous region of PEO matrix, which can be very important in their performance for membrane processes.

Objective:Studies examining the association of reflux disease with the risk of developing laryngeal cancer have both proven and disproven the null ***:This retrospective caseecontrol study examines the association of reflux in two populations exposed to similar risk factors,including tobacco,to the extent that end-organ malignant transformation has *** IRB approval was obtained,a search of our hospital’s cancer center’s database was performed from 2000 to 2013.A retrospective chart review was then performed and the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease among patients with laryngeal cancer(n Z 290)was *** was then compared to the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease among patients presenting with lung cancer(n Z 2440)during the same time period.A multivariate logistic regression was performed to determine the association of reflux with laryngeal ***:Taking into consideration tobacco use,there was a strong association between male gender and occurrence of laryngeal cancer as opposed to lung cancer(OR Z 3.30;95%CI 2.53e4.36,P<0.001).There was a modest association between reflux and laryngeal cancer(OR Z 1.65;95%CI 1.19e2.25,P Z 0.003).However,there was no association between reflux and the propensity for carcinoma in specific laryngeal subsites(P Z 0.47).Conclusions:In this study examining a heterogeneous population with end-organ malignancy there was a modest association between reflux and laryngeal *** research is necessary to determine the biologic relevance of this finding.

BACKGROUND Even though percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)improved the survival of patients with acute myocardial infarction,still multivessel coronary artery disease remains an important factor burdening prognosis and it is being associated with a worse prognosis compared to single-vessel disease(SVD).AIM To compare the clinical profile and outcomes after the primary PCI in young patients with SVD vs multivessel disease(MVD).METHODS The retrospective cohort of patients were divided into two groups:SVD and MVD *** study population consisted of both male and female young(≤45 years)patients presented with ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease,Karachi,Pakistan and undergone primary PCI from 1 st July 2017 to 31 st March *** and postprocedure management of the patients was as per the guidelines and institutional *** A total of 571 patients with STEMI,≤45 years were stratified into two groups by the number of vessels involved,342(59.9%)with SVD and 229(40.1%)with *** average age of these patients was 39.04±4.86 years.A lower prevalence of hypertension and diabetes was observed in SVD as compare to MVD group(25.1%vs 38%,P<0.01;11.7%vs 27.5%,P<0.001)***,smoking was more prevalent among the SVD group as compare to MVD group(36.3%vs 28.4%,P=0.05).The high-C Lesion was observed in a significantly higher number of younger patients with MVD as compared to SVD group(48.8%vs 39.2%,P=0.021).Post-procedure thrombolysis in myocardial infarction flow grade was found to be not associated with the number of diseased vessels with a P value of 0.426 and thrombolysis in myocardial infarction flow grade III was observed in 98%vs 96.5%of the patients is SVD vs MVD *** The MVD comprised of around 40%of the young patients presented with ***,this study shows that diabetes and hypertension have a certain role in the pathogenesis of multivessel diseases,therefore,preventive

OBJECTIVES： Using genetic markers and mirs work strongly beside other sensitive biomarkers in lupus management during sensitive period of pregnancy. METHOD： PubMed and Google Scholar databases were searched from 2000 to 2017 using the terms ＂lupus,＂＂lupus pregnancy, biomarkers,＂＂micro-RNA,＂＂polymorphisms,＂＂anti-phospholipid antibodies,＂ and ＂cluster differentiation markers,＂ DISCUSSION： Complement is a valuable biomarker in lupus pregnancy. However, the complement profile has ambiguous meaning because decreased levels of C3 and C4 reflect inflammation and because they are also prognostic biomarkers for abortion. Furthermore, increased C3 and C4 levels indicate hepatic protein synthesis in hepatocytes. Anti-phospholipid （APL） antibodies are present in 25% to 50% of lupus patients, and can lead to thrombotic and obstetric complications in some pregnancies and increase the risk of abortion, especially in a pregnant woman in the active phase of lupus. Several studies have associated APL with HELLP syndrome. However, other pregnancy complications have not been associated with APL. Autoantibodies against the major vault protein and anti-double strand DNA antibodies are valuable biomarkers in evaluating lupus activity. The expression pattern ofmicro-RNAs （mirs） differs in various diseases. Current studies have demonstrated the potential of mirs as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in various diseases; for example, the level of mir-126 is higher in lupus. CONCLUSION： mir-223-3p and mir-451 are informative biomarkers in estimating disease activity. TWEAK, BAFF, and APOL1 genes, and their polymorphisms are informative in estimating disease activity, especially renal effects, and in monitoring higher-risk pregnant women. Further studies of these genes and their relevant polymorphisms are needed.

OBJECTIVES： Single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs）, genetic background, and epigenetics play important roles in rheumatoid arthritis （RA）. These factors can be useful in RA diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response evaluation, particularly with the growing trends in personalized medicine. Therefore, categorizing classic genes and SNPs in RA can present an appropriate guideline for RA management. DISCUSSION： Prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers play important roles in RA diagnosis and treatment. Categorizing SNPs is not an easy process yet, but selecting classic SNPs can be useful worldwide, according to basic similarities that exist in genomes. In this review, we compiled some of these RA-associated SNPs and biomarkers in a table, according to newly identified factors. The role of epigenetics in RA is undeniable; using epigenetic biomarkers like histone deacetylase （HDACs） can be useful in RA diagnosis and treatment, mirs such as mir-146a, mir-155, and mir-222 are useful in diagnosis and can be used in treatment by interfering with other factors＇ functions. Interleukins （ILs） seem to be good prognostic and diagnostic markers and can be targeted in RA treatment. CONCLUSION： Using multiple types of biomarkers, such as useful in RA management and treatment. PTPN22, HLA-DR genes, SNPs, and epigenetic biomarkers like HDACs can be polymorphisms, mirs, and HDACs are considerable in RA susceptibility; hence, they can be valuable biomarkers in future studies. This article gathered separate information from approximately 100 articles to present useful biomarkers and polymorphisms in one review.

Objective:To assess the antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of ESKAPE pathogens from Neyshabur,Iran during ***:A total of 345 isolates including 62 Staphylococcus aureus(***),38 Enterobacter spp.(including 14 Enterobacter agglomerans,6 Enterobacter aerogenes and other 18 Enterobacter spp.),123 Enterococcus faecium,78 Klebsiella pneumonia,10 Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 34 Acinetobacter baumannii were *** antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of isolates was conducted with Kirby Bauer *** were analyzed with SPSS 20.0 software using F-and ***:Among *** isolates,the highest resistance was observed against nalidixic acid(81.35%)and cefixime(74.50%).Thirty-three(53.22%)*** isolates were cefoxitin resistant(methicillin-resistant ***).The majority of Enterobacter species was resistant to amikacin(100.00%)and cephalotin(66.60%).Most Enterococcus faecium isolates were resistant to nalidixic acid(89.43%)and amikacin(83.33%),but vancomycin-resistant enterococci isolates were not ***,among Klebsiella pneumonia,the highest resistance was observed to nalidixic acid(20.98%)and cotrimoxazole(28.39%).Furthermore,all Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were resistant to cefotaxime(100.00%)and majority to nitroforantoin(88.80%).Acinetobacter baumannii isolates showed the highest and the lowest resistance to cefotaxime(100.00%)and cefixime(88.71%),***:The prevalence of ESKAPE pathogens from northeast region was low,but majority of them exhibited high rate of antibiotic resistance to common used antimicrobial agents.

Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a complex, multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder with a pathophysiology deriving from the synergy of abnormal aggregation of neuroinflammation, synuclein and dysfunction of lysosomes, mitochondria and synaptic transport difficulties influenced by genetic and idiopathic factors. Worldwide, PD has a prevalence of 2-3% in people over the age of 65. To date, there is no certified, effective treatment for PD. Aim: The aims of this research were: (i) to present, on the basis of recent advances in molecular genetics and epigenetics, the genomic aspects and challenges of gene therapy trials for PD;(ii) to outline the ethical principles applicable to therapeutic trials for PD. Method: A systematic literature review was carried out to identify relevant articles reporting on genomic aspects and gene therapy in PD from 2001 to October 2023. The search was conducted in French and/or English in three databases: PubMed, Google Scholar and Science Direct. PRISMA guidelines were used in this systematic review. Results: A total of thirty-three publications were selected. An inductive thematic analysis revealed that numerous genetic mutations (SNCA, Parkin, PINK1, DJ-1, LRRK2, ATP13A2, VPS35, Parkin/PRKN, PINK1, DJ1/PARK7) and epigenetic events such as the action of certain mirNAs (mir-7, mir-153, mir-133b, mir-124, mir-137) are responsible for the onset of PD, and that genetic therapy for this pathology raises ethical questions that need to be elucidated in the light of the bioethical principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice. Conclusion: There is no zero risk in biotechnology. Then, it will be necessary to assess all the potential risks of Parkinson disease’s gene therapy to make the right decision. It is therefore essential to pursue research and, with the guidance of ethics, to advance treatment options and meet the challenges of brain manipulation and its impact on human identity.
