Evaluating the soil evaporation loss rate in a gravel-sand mulching environment based on stable isotopes data

In order to cope with drought and water shortages,the working people in the arid areas of Northwest China have developed a drought-resistant planting method,namely,gravel-sand mulching,after long-term agricultural *** understand the effects of gravel-sand mulching on soil water evaporation,we selected Baifeng peach(Amygdalus persica L.)orchards in Northwest China as the experimental field in *** on continuously collected soil water stable isotopes data,we evaluated the soil evaporation loss rate in a gravel-sand mulching environment using the line-conditioned excess(lc-excess)coupled Rayleigh fractionation model and Craig-Gordon *** results show that the average soil water content in the plots with gravel-sand mulching is 1.86%higher than that without gravel-sand *** monthly variation of the soil water content is smaller in the plots with gravel-sand mulching than that without gravel-sand ***,the average lc-excess value in the plots without gravel-sand mulching is *** addition,the soil evaporation loss rate in the plots with gravel-sand mulching is lower than that in the plots without gravel-sand *** lc-excess value was negative for both the plots with and without gravel-sand mulching,and it has good correlation with relative humidity,average temperature,input water content,and soil water *** effect of gravel-sand mulching on soil evaporation is most prominent in *** with the evaporation data of similar environments in the literature,the lc-excess coupled Rayleigh fractionation model is *** isotopes evidence shows that gravel-sand mulching can effectively reduce soil water evaporation,which provides a theoretical basis for agricultural water management and optimization of water-saving methods in arid areas.

Ice and snow chemistry of alpine glaciers is crucial for the research of regional atmospheric environment change. Fresh snow samples were weekly collected from Urumqi Glacier No.1 in the Tianshan Mountains, Xin- jiang, China, and the chemical characteristics and seasonal variations of major ions, mineral dust, δ18O and trace metals were measured. Results show that the concentrations of major ions in the snow are Ca2+ > SO42-> NH4+ > NO3-> Cl-> Na+ > Mg2+ > K+, in which Ca2+ is the dominant cation, and SO42-is the dominant anion. All major ions have close positive correlations with each other except NO3-. δ18O shows positive correlation with air temperature change during the study period. Mineral dust particle and major ionic concentrations in fresh snow have obvious seasonal change, with high concentration in spring but low concentration in summer and autumn, which indicates that the chemical mass input from Asian dust activity to snow is very significant. Temporal changes of trace metals in fresh snow, e.g., Cd, Pb, Zn, Al, Fe, have shown that human-induced pollution of central Asian region also has large contribution to the snow chemistry on alpine glaciers of the Tianshan Mountains.

Material Removal Characteristics of Single-Crystal 4H-SiC Based on Varied-Load Nanoscratch Tests

Single-crystal silicon carbide(SiC)has been widely applied in the military and civil fields because of its excellent physical and chemical ***,as is typical in hard-to-machine materials,the good mechanical properties result in surface defects and subsurface damage during precision or ultraprecision *** this study,single-and double-varied-load nanoscratch tests were systematically performed on single-crystal 4H-SiC using a nanoindenter system with a Berkovich *** material removal characteristics and cracks under different planes,indenter directions,normal loading rates,and scratch intervals were analyzed using SEM,FIB,and a 3D profilometer,and the mechanisms of material removal and crack propagation were *** results showed that the Si-plane of the single-crystal 4H-SiC and edge forward indenter direction are most suitable for material removal and *** normal loading rate had little effect on the scratch depth,but a lower loading rate increased the ductile region and critical depth of ***,the crack interaction and fluctuation of the depth-distance curves of the second scratch weakened with an increase in the scratch interval,the status of scratches and chips changed,and the comprehensive effects of the propagation and interaction of the three cracks resulted in material fractures and chip *** calculated and experimental values of the median crack depth also showed good consistency and ***,this study provides an important reference for the high-efficiency and precision machining of single-crystal SiC to ensure high accuracy and a long service life.

ZiZiphus jujuba,which is native to China,has become one of the main crops widely planted in the western Loess Plateau because of its drought and flood-tolerance,adaptability,and higher nutritional value of the *** irrigation water infiltration in *** gardens is complex,and understanding its mechanisms is essential for efficient water use and sustainable *** knowledge helps ensure the long-term success of jujuba *** paper describes a field experiment that investigates the infiltration process of irrigation water from *** garden and quantifies the contribution of irrigation water to soil water at different depths using the MixSIAR *** to the FC(Field water holding Capacity)of ***,irrigation experiments with three volumes of 80%FC,60%FC,and 40%FC are set up in this *** study finds that water retention is better in *** garden soils with a higher proportion of coarse gravel in the soil particle *** water content exhibits a gradient change after irrigation,with deeper wetting front transport depth observed with increased irrigation ***,there is correlation between soil temperature and soil water *** soil water in *** garden generally exhibits a preferential flow signal in the 0-40 cm *** 40 cm,a piston flow pattern *** rate of soil water infiltration increases with the amount of irrigation *** the 0-40 cm range of the soil vertical profile,irrigation water was the main contributor to soil *** demonstrated flexibility in water uptake,primarily absorbing soil water at depths of 0-40 *** optimal growth of *** at this stage,40%FC irrigation is *** results are expected to be valuable future irrigation practices and land use planning for *** garden in arid zones,supporting sustainable agricultural development and water management.

The 3d transition-metal nickel(Ni)-based cathodes have long been widely used in rechargeable batteries for over 100 years,from Ni-based alkaline rechargeable batteries,such as nickel-cadmium(Ni-Cd)and nickel-metal hydride(Ni-MH)batteries,to the Ni-rich cathode featured in lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Ni-based alkaline batteries were first invented in the 1900s,and the well-developed Ni-MH batteries were used on a large scale in Toyota Prius vehicles in the *** the same time,however,Sony Corporation commercialized the first LIBs in *** temporally fading as LiCoO_(2) dominated the cathode in LIBs,nickel oxide-based cathodes eventually found their way back to the mainstreaming battery *** uniqueness of Ni in batteries is that it helps to deliver high energy density and great storage capacity at a low *** review mainly provides a comprehensive overview of the key role of Ni-based cathodes in rechargeable *** presenting the physical and chemical properties of the 3d transition-metal Ni,which make it an optimal cationic redox center in the cathode of batteries,we introduce the structure,reaction mechanism,and modification of nickel hydroxide electrode in Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rechargeable *** then move on to the Ni-based layered oxide cathode in LIBs,with a focus on the structure,issues,and challenges of layered oxides,LiNiO_(2),and LiNi_(1−x−y)Co_(x)Mn_(y)O_(2).The role of Ni in the electrochemical performance and thermal stability of the Ni-rich cathode is *** bridging the“old”Ni-based batteries and the“modern”Ni-rich cathode in the LIBs,this review is committed to providing insights into the Ni-based electrochemistry and material design,which have been under research and development for over 100 *** overview would shed new light on the development of advanced Ni-containing batteries with high energy density and long cycle life.

Erlotinib Analogue-substituted Zinc（Ⅱ） Phthalocyanines for Small Molecular Target-based Photodynamic Cancer Therapy

＂Smart＂ targeted photosensitizer conjugated with small molecule target-based anticancer drug which has a sim- ple chemical structure and high stability, is a new promising targeted therapeutic strategy. We herein extended this strategy and reported a novel series of zinc（II） phthalocyanine-erlotinib analogue conjugates with different periph- eral substituted positions and lengths of the linker. Having erlotinib analogue as the targeting moiety, all conjugates exhibited high specificity and potent affinity to HepG2 cancer cells and kept high photodynamic activity （ICs0 = 3.7 -- 16.7 nmol/L）. Structure-activity relationships of these conjugates were assessed by investigating their photophys- ical/photochemical properties, targeting intracellular uptake and in vitro phototoxicity. The results suggested that a-substituted conjugates showed slightly higher photodynamic activity than ,8-substituted ones. In conclusion, we have developed a series of promising anticancer agents with high tumor selectivity and anticancer activity for targeted photodynamic therapy.

This paper proposes an additive nanomanufacturing approach to fabricate a personalized lab-on-a-chip fluorescent peptide nanoparticles （f-PNPs） array for simultaneous multi-biomarker detection that can be used in Alzheimer＇s disease （AD） diagnosis. We will discuss optimization techniques for the additive nanomanufacturing process in terms of reliability, yield and manufacturing efficiency. One contribution of this paper lies in utilization of additive nanomanufacturing techniques to fabricate a patient-specific customize-designed lab-on-a-chip device for personalized AD diagnosis, which remains a major challenge for biomedical engineering. Through the integrated bio-design and bio-manufacturing process, doctor＇s check- up and computer-aided customized design are integrated into the lab-on-a-chip array for patient-specific AD diagnosis. In addition, f-PNPs with targeting moieties for personalized AD biomarkers will be self-assembled onto the customized lab-on-a- chip through the additive nanomanufacturing process, which has not been done before. Another contribution of this research is the personalized lab-on-a-chip f-PNPs array for AD diagnosis utilizing limited human blood. Blood-based AD assessment has been described as ＂the holy grail＂ of early AD detection. This research created the computer-aided design, fabrication through additive nanomanufacturing, and validation of the f-PNPs array for AD diagnosis. This is a highly interdisciplinary research contributing to nanotechnology, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering for neurodegenerative disease. The conceptual work is preliminary with intent to introduce novel techniques to the application. Large-scale manufacturing based on the proposed framework requires extensive validation and optimization.

AP2/ERE-type transcription factors,as a type of plant-specific transcription factors,play a key role in plant biotic and abiotic ***,they have been studied in many plants,but rarely in *** this study,we performed a genome-wide analysis of the SlAP2/ERF gene family of tomato,and finally identified 29 SlAP2/ERF genes and divided them into different *** the same time,its basic physical and chemical properties were *** also constructed phylogenetic trees with 30 Arabidopsis AP2/ERF proteins and 28 potatoes AP2/ERF proteins to ensure conservative homology between *** addition,we mapped 29 SlAP2/ERF transcription factors on 10 different chromosomes,and identified 43 responsive plant hormones,responsive light signals,tissue-specific expression and stress response elements from 2000bp upstream of the promoter region,and we analyzed conserved motifs and gene structures of SlAP2/*** tertiary structure of SlAP2/ERF protein was constructed by homology modeling,and the protein-protein interaction network was constructed based on Arabidopsis ***,the expression pattern of tomato in different tissues was studied by using gene expression database,and the expression level of tomato under abiotic stress was detected by *** results provide comprehensive information for further study of the function of the SlAP2/ERF gene family.

The methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR)genotypes 677CT and 677TT are associated with elevated serum homocysteine(Hcy)levels by means of lowering the activity of MTHFR,and the increase in serum Hcy may be linked to increased susceptibility to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).However,there are contradictory reports of the relationship among the MTHFR 677CT gene polymorphism,Hcy,and ***,the aim of this study was to identify potential associations and interactions of either Hcy levels or the MTHFR 677CT gene polymorphism with the susceptibility to NAFLD in a Chinese *** association between the MTHFR 677 CT gene polymorphism and Hcy levels was determined in 243 subjects with NAFLD and 388 healthy subjects without NAFLD using polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment length polymorphism analysis and high-performance liquid *** subjects with NAFLD,there was no statistical difference in the genotypic and allelic frequencies of the MTHFR 677 CT gene polymorphism,while serum Hcy levels were significantly higher in subjects with ***,these results strongly suggest that the MTHFR 677CT gene polymorphism and NAFLD have a potential synergistic effect on Hcy elevation,although the MTHFR 677CT gene polymorphism was not correlated with NAFLD in a Chinese population.
