Effect of Deficit Irrigation Practice on Nitrogen Mineralization and Nitrate Nitrogen Leaching under Semi-Arid Conditions

Agricultural sector acts as a major consumer of water which accounts for 70 percent of global freshwater use. Water scarcity acts as an imminent threat to agriculture, there is a need to use those irrigation and management practices that could overcome this overwhelming situation of water scarcity. Lab incubation study was designed to evaluate the effect of different moisture levels (50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% FC) on nitrogen mineralization rate. Net nitrogen mineralization was shown at 60% and 80% FC levels. Two optimized irrigation levels (I0.6 and I0.8) along with four levels of dairy manure (10, 15, 20, and 25 Mg ha-1) were used in a lysimetric trial. Nitrate-nitrogen was measured at four depths (D1: 30 cm, D2: 60 cm, D3: 90 cm, and D4: 120 cm). Results showed strong interaction of irrigation and dairy manure at all depths. Mean maximum nitrate-nitrogen concentration was shown under full irrigation at 120 cm soil depth with the application of DM ®25 Mg ha-1. Under two levels of deficit irrigation, I0.8 has shown maximum nitrate-nitrogen concentration at 90 cm soil depth with the application of DM25, however, deficit irrigation level I0.6 restricted nitrate-nitrogen movement up to 60 cm soil depth, and high concentration was found at 30 cm soil depth. We concluded that deficit irrigation practice along with dairy manure resulted in more nitrate-nitrogen in the upper 60 cm layer of soil where it can be more available for the crops.

背景与目的:以内镜下黏膜切除术(EMR)和内镜下黏膜下层剥离术(ESD)为主的内镜下切除手术已成为目前治疗早期结直肠癌的主要方式。然而,在临床实践中,大多数早期结直肠癌患者,无论内镜治疗后标本病理提示是否为治愈性切除,后续仍追加了外科手术。本研究通过比较早期结直肠癌患者行内镜下治愈性或非治愈性切除治疗后的肿瘤残留情况,分析内镜治疗后追加外科手术的必要性,以期为医生临床决策提供参考。方法:回顾性收集2016年5月—2023年7月中南大学湘雅医院收治的行内镜下治疗手术后追加外科根治性切除术的早期结直肠癌患者病例资料。根据内镜切除后标本送检的病理结果将患者分为治愈性切除组(无肿瘤残留且无脉管神经侵犯)和非治愈性切除组[有肿瘤残留和(或)有脉管神经侵犯],分析两组患者的临床基本资料、病理特征和肿瘤残留情况的差异。结果:在接受内镜下切除治疗后追加外科手术的82例早期结直肠癌患者中,治愈性切除组53例,非治愈性切除组29例。两组患者在性别、年龄、症状、息肉部位、息肉形状、息肉大小、病理类型、浸润深度、追加外科手术间隔时间等基线数据方面均无统计学差异(均P>0.05)。外科手术标本病理结果显示,4例患者有肿瘤残留,其中治愈性切除组2例(3.77%,2/53)、非治愈性切除组2例(6.90%,2/29)。内镜下治愈性或非治愈性切除与有无肿瘤残留差异无统计学意义(χ^(2)=0.008,P=0.927)。结论:EMR、ESD可为早期结直肠癌患者带来良好的切除效果。无论内镜下是否为治愈性切除,均需综合患者自身特点、内镜标本病理资料以及内镜医生的处理方式,个体化分析追加外科手术的必要性。其次,无论是否追加外科手术,均需建议患者保持定期规律的内镜随访。

Performance evaluation of hybrid constructed wetlands for the treatment of municipal wastewater in developing countries

In developing countries,high cost of conventional wastewater treatment is a major hindrance in its *** wetlands(CWs)offer low-cost and effective solution to this *** current study aimed to evaluate an innovative maneuver of CWs *** flow constructed wetlands(HCWs)for municipal wastewater(MWW).The HCWs included two lab scale CWs;one horizontal and one vertical,in *** plant species were *** were operated in both,batch and continuous *** mode was used to(1)optimize detention time and(2)find pollutants removal *** operation(at batch optimized retention time)was carried out for the evaluation of mass removal rate,r(g·m-2·d-1),volumetric rate constant,Kv(per day)and areal rate constant,Ka(m·d-1).Among two local plants tested,Pistia stratiotes gave better removal efficiency than *** detention time in HCWs was found to be 8 days(4+4 each).The optimum COD,BOD,TSS,TKN and P removal observed for Pistia stratiotes planted HCWs was 80%,84%,82%,71%and88%*** standards for COD,BOD and TSS were met at optimum *** values of Kaand Kv demonstrated that more removal occurred in vertical flow as compared to horizontal flow CW.

An innovative design of septic tank for wastewater treatment and its performance evaluation： An applicable model for developing countries

A study was carried out to evaluate the treatment efficiency of modified model of septic tank（ST）for the treatment of domestic *** objective was to explore the possibility of increasing the removal efficiency,at household level,thereby reducing cost and treatment burden on city level treatment *** this purpose,a bench scale model of ST was prepared and operated continuously for 78 days at different detention times i.e.,48,24 and 12 h and at two reactor temperatures viz.15℃ and 25℃.Domestic wastewater was fed to the bench scale ST without *** was conducted under two different ***,by installing baffles in the bench scale ST（called Run-1 setup）,and secondly by installing perforated plates between the baffles（called Run-2 setup）.Results demonstrated that Run-2 setup is better than Run-1 *** significantly affects the *** time of 24 h was found ***-2 setup demonstrated a percentage BOD removal of 45%with effluent BOD of 113 mg·L^-1 at 15℃ and 85%removal with effluent BOD of 31 mg·L^-1 at 25℃.It is concluded that if a modified design of ST using Run-2 setup is provided at household level,the effluent coming out of the house will meet the National Environmental Quality Standards（NEQS）when reactor temperature is close to 25℃.Development authorities are suggested to change their by-laws and make modified ST mandatory for all *** may significantly reduce the cost and footprint of city level wastewater treatment plants being planned.

Molecular recognition of simple sugars is crucial due to their essential roles in most living ***,it remains extremely challenging to achieve a visual recognition of simple sugars like sucrose in water media under physiological *** this article,the visual recognition of sucrose is accomplished by a chiral supramolecular hydrogel formation through the co-assembly of a two-component fibrous solution(l-phenylalanine based gelator co-diaminopyridine,LDAP)and sucrose.H-bonding between the amino group of LDAP and the hydroxyl group of sucrose facilitates the gelation by loading sucrose into the LDAP *** formed hydrogel showed an amplified inversion of circular dichroism(CD)signals as compared to the corresponding LDAP *** addition,the effective chirality transfer was accompanied by a bathochromic shift in UV-Vis and FL spectra of the *** a simple and straightforward chiral co-assembled strategy to visually recognize sucrose will have the potential use of smart gelators in saccharides separation and proteomics to be further applied in medical diagnostics and cell imaging.

In our day to day life we come across questions like “which movie do we have to watch?” “which animated movies are best to watch?” *** is an act of saying something is good and deserve to be *** this work,collaborative filtering technique is used based on user preference models in order to construct a system concerning movies that provides more precise recommendations and predictions with reduced computational *** order to improve the performance of CF recommender system,we propose similarity measures and integrate the system into a web-based recommender *** of the user preference models is focused on percentages of different movie genres a user has watched and the other is on the average ratings a user has given to different genres of *** models less depend on the rating data that users have given to the items,but more on item types to accurately predict user preference and has much less computing complexity for no need in finding the co-rated *** use these user preference models with AED(Adjusted Euclidean Distance)similarity measure to calculate similarities among *** evaluate our proposed similarity measure based on watched genre ratio preference model by experiments on Movie Lens 100 k and ml-latest-small datasets and compare the performance with Euclidean similarity *** results show that AED based on watched genre ratio preference model outperforms in all aspects than Euclidean.

Assessing the response of indigenous loquat cultivar Mardan to phytohormones for in vitro shoot proliferation and rooting

In vitro cultures of loquat cultivar Mardan were established using shoot apices after treating with NaOCl (5%,7%,10%,12%,14% (v/v)) for 12 min and HgCl2 (0.01%,0.05%,0.10%,0.20%,0.25% (w/v)) for 2 min.A maximum survival rate of 70% was recorded after surface sterilization with 10% *** response was assessed on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium fortified with assorted combinations of the cytokinins,benzylaminopurine (BAP),kinetin,and N6-(2-isopentyl)adenine (2iP).Treatment of BAP 1.5 mg/L combined with 2iP 9.0 mg/L and kinetin 1.5 mg/L was found to be optimum for shoot morphogenesis in terms of the number and subsequent growth of shoots,while the highest shoot length was yielded by the combination of BAP 0.5 mg/L,kinetin 0.5 mg/L,and 2iP 3 mg/*** levels of cytokinins induced callogenesis,vitrification and stunted growth to some *** rhizogenesis,uniform sized micro-shoots were excised and transferred to half-strength MS medium containing *** best rooting expression was observed with naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) 1 mg/L combined with indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) 2 mg/L and paclobutrazol (PBZ) 1 mg/L.

Worldwide cotton is the most profitable cash *** year the production of this crop suffers because of several *** an early stage,computerized methods are used for disease detection that may reduce the loss in the production of *** several methods are proposed for the detection of cotton diseases,however,still there are limitations because of low-quality images,size,shape,variations in orientation,and complex *** to these factors,there is a need for novel methods for features extraction/selection for the accurate cotton disease *** in this research,an optimized features fusion-based model is proposed,in which two pre-trained architectures called EfficientNet-b0 and Inception-v3 are utilized to extract features,each model extracts the feature vector of length N×*** that,the extracted features are serially concatenated having a feature vector lengthN×*** prominent features are selected usingEmperor PenguinOptimizer(EPO)*** method is evaluated on two publically available datasets,such as Kaggle cotton disease dataset-I,and Kaggle *** EPO method returns the feature vector of length 1×755,and 1×824 using dataset-I,and dataset-II,*** classification is performed using 5,7,and 10 folds *** Quadratic Discriminant Analysis(QDA)classifier provides an accuracy of 98.9%on 5 fold,98.96%on 7 fold,and 99.07%on 10 fold using Kaggle cotton disease dataset-I while the Ensemble Subspace K Nearest Neighbor(KNN)provides 99.16%on 5 fold,98.99%on 7 fold,and 99.27%on 10 fold using Kaggle cotton-leaf-infection dataset-II.

Photoresponsive Supramolecular Hydrogel Co-assembled from Fmoc-Phe-OH and 4,4′-Azopyridine for Controllable Dye Release

Photoresponsive hydrogels have been attractive because they can provide precise spatial and temporal control for molecule release, whereas the conventional preparation of photoresponsive hydrogels generally involves complex chemical synthesis steps or specific conditions which limits their practical applications. Herein, a new photoresponsive hydrogel is facilely prepared via co-assembly of two simple molecules, Fmoc-Phe-OH and Azp, without chemical synthesis. The co-assembly mechanism, morphology, and photoresponsiveness of(Fmoc-Phe-OH)-Azp hydrogel are investigated by circular dichroism(CD), ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis), fluorescence, ~1 H nuclear magnetic resonance(~1 H-NMR), attenuated total internal reflection Fourier transform Infrared(ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Furthermore, the enhanced release of encapsulated sulforhodamine B(SRB) dye molecules can be achieved via UV light irradiation. The enhanced dye release amount can be controlled by manipulating photoirradiation time. This study provides a facile way to prepare photoresponsive hydrogel which holds great potential for controllable drug release.
