Recent technical advances in liver imaging and surveillance for patients at high risk for developing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)have led to an increase in the detection of borderline hepatic nodules in the gray area of multistep carcinogenesis,particularly in those that are hypointense at the hepatobiliary phase(HBP)and do not show arterial phase *** their potential to transform and advance into hypervascular HCC,these nodules have progressively attracted the interest of the scientific *** date,however,no shared guidelines have been established for the decision management of these borderline hepatic *** is therefore extremely important to identify features that indicate the malignant potential of these nodules and the likelihood of *** fact,a more complete knowledge of their history and evolution would allow outlining shared guidelines for their clinical-surgical management,to implement early treatment programs and decide between a preventive curative treatment or a watchful *** review aims to summarize the current knowledge on hepatic borderline nodules,particularly focusing on those imaging features which are hypothetically correlated with their malignant evolution,and to discuss current guidelines and ongoing management in clinical practice.

An algorithm for robust initial orbit determination (IOD) under perturbed orbital dynamics is presented. By leveraging map inversion techniques defined in the algebra of Taylor polynomials, this tool returns a highly accurate solution to the IOD problem and estimates a range centered on the aforementioned solution in which the true orbit should lie. To meet the specified accuracy requirements, automatic domain splitting is used to wrap the IOD routines and ensure that the local truncation error, introduced by a polynomial representation of the state estimate, remains below a predefined threshold. The algorithm is presented for three types of ground-based sensors, namely range radars, Doppler-only radars, and optical telescopes, by considering their different constraints in terms of available measurements and sensor noise. Finally, the improvement in performance with respect to a Keplerian-based IOD solution is demonstrated using large-scale numerical simulations over a subset of tracked objects in low Earth orbit.

Crohn’s disease(CD)is a chronic inflammatory disease of the digestive *** incidence of pediatric CD is increasing and is currently 2.5-11.4 per 100000 ***,approximately 25%of children with CD develop stricturing CD(SCD)that requires *** stricturing diseases refractory to pharmacological management frequently require non-pharmacological ***-pharmacological therapeutic strategies include endoscopic balloon dilatation,stricturoplasty,and surgical resection of the strictured ***,strictures tend to recur postoperatively regardless of treatment *** lifetime risk of surgery in patients with childhood SCD remains at 50%-90%.Thus,new and emerging strategies,advanced diagnostic tools,and minimally invasive approaches are under investigation to improve the outcomes and overall quality of life of pediatric patients with SCD.

Concerns related to environmental risks associated with pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)have led researchers to seek methods for assessing and monitoring these contaminants in the aquatic *** and validating risk assessment tools that can evaluate ecological concerns and risks associated with PPCPs is ***,the suitability of a dose-related risk and effect assessment model,which estimates predicted environmental concentrations and allowed comparisons with predicted no effect concentrations determined,in combination with in vitro analyses of the whole effluent toxicity,was verified for the characterization of a PPCP *** of the most utilized PPCPs in Norway were measured in influent and effluent samples and used to parameterize the fate *** than 90%removal was attained for 12 out of 22 detected *** was not dependent on the class or the concentration of the specific substance and varied between 12%and 100%.The PPCPs detected in the discharged wastewater were utilized to assess individual contributions to the risk of the effluent,and no risk was identified for the targeted 30 *** simulations provided valuable information regarding the discharge plume distribution over time,which can aid planning of future environmental monitoring ***(using fish liver cells,PLHC-1)were used for assessing overall effluent toxicity,through cell viability,production of reactive oxygen species,and ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase(EROD)*** present study may allow regulators to use risk-based strategies over removal criteria for monitoring studies and confirms the importance to take PPCP contamination into consideration when establishing environmental regulations.
