Purpose The safety of creatine supplementation has been investigated,however,the safety of a high-dose/short-term or low-dose/long-term supplementation dosing scheme,combined with a resistance training program,a commonly used dosing scheme,has not yet *** aim of this study was to evaluate physical performance and the safety of the cited creatine supplementation dosing scheme in a double-blind placebo-controlled study by assessing blood and urine health indicators in subjects undertaking resistance *** Thirty-four healthy male subjects were randomly assigned to creatine supplement(CREA/7 days,0.3 g/kg body mass+21 days,0.03 g/kg)or placebo(PLA)group and both groups participated in a resistance training intervention(6 exercises,3 sets of 8-12 repetitions per exercise at 85%of 1RM,3 d/week).Blood and urine samples were collected pre-,7 and 30 days *** blood(26 parameters)and urine markers(15),between-group differences were calculated by using 2 groups(CREA and PLA)×2 measures(“POST7 minus PRE”and“POST30 minus PRE”)*** The CREA group exhibited significant body weight and 1RM increase(POST30 minus PRE)of all evaluated exercises,when compared to PLA *** the blood and urine health markers,only hematocrit,LDL,Uric Acid,Phosphatase Alkaline and Creatinine exhibited between-group differences,but with small magnitude of differences and maintained into the range of clinical reference *** Our data suggest that creatine supplementation the used dosing scheme,concomitantly with resistance training,improves physical performance with no evident risk or protection to health for young weightlifters.

Purpose The aim was to explore five established SNPs(rs1815739,rs1805086,rs2700352,rs28497577,and rs28357094)that are known to modulate skeletal muscle protein kinetics in response to creatine *** A randomized,placebo-controlled,repeated measures design was ***(n=152)were rand-omized divided into one of two groups:CREA(20 g/day creatine monohydrate)or PLAC:(dextrose)for 7 *** were assessed,and participants were classified *** and after supplementation,anthropometrics(height and body mass)and performance measures(vertical jump,countermovement vertical jump,squat jump,abdominal crunches,and maximum push-ups)were *** CREA gained more body mass than PLAC(CREA:Δ0.864±0.06 kg;PLAC:Δ0.154±0.07 kg,P<0.001).In the CREA group,the presence of an A allele for the MYLK1 polymorphism was related to changes in countermovement jump height(P=0.027;effect size[d]=0.41)and leg power(P=0.040,effect size[d]=0.18).The total number of abdominal crunches after supplementation was influenced by treatments and SPP1 gene(P=0.041).A higher number of abdominal crunches was associated with the G allele in the CREA group and the TT genotype in the PLAC group(effect size[d]=0.04).Conclusion Collectively,short-term creatine supplementation increased body mass but was unable to alter muscle ***,following creatine supplementation,participants expressing A alleles in the MYLK1 polymorphism had a greater increase in jump height and leg power and participants expressing G alleles in the SPP1 gene had greater improve-ments in abdominal crunch performance.

Current status of magnetic resonance imaging radiomics in hepatocellular carcinoma:A quantitative review with Radiomics Quality Score

BACKGROUND Radiomics is a promising tool that may increase the value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for different tasks related to the management of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,its implementation in clinical practice is still far,with many issues related to the methodological quality of radiomic *** To systematically review the current status of MRI radiomic studies concerning HCC using the Radiomics Quality Score(RQS).METHODS A systematic literature search of PubMed,Google Scholar,and Web of Science databases was performed to identify original articles focusing on the use of MRI radiomics for HCC management published between 2017 and *** methodological quality of radiomic studies was assessed using the RQS ***’s correlation(ρ)analysis was performed to explore if RQS was correlated with journal metrics and characteristics of the *** level of statistical significance was set at P<*** One hundred and twenty-seven articles were included,of which 43 focused on HCC prognosis,39 on prediction of pathological findings,16 on prediction of the expression of molecular markers outcomes,18 had a diagnostic purpose,and 11 had multiple *** mean RQS was 8±6.22,and the corresponding percentage was 24.15%±15.25%(ranging from 0.0% to 58.33%).RQS was positively correlated with journal impact factor(IF;ρ=0.36,P=2.98×10^(-5)),5-years IF(ρ=0.33,P=1.56×10^(-4)),number of patients included in the study(ρ=0.51,P<9.37×10^(-10))and number of radiomics features extracted in the study(ρ=0.59,P<4.59×10^(-13)),and time of publication(ρ=-0.23,P<0.0072).CONCLUSION Although MRI radiomics in HCC represents a promising tool to develop adequate personalized treatment as a noninvasive approach in HCC patients,our study revealed that studies in this field still lack the quality required to allow its introduction into clinical practice.

Sex-specifc seasonal variations of wild boar distance traveled and home range size

Distance traveled and home range size describe how animals move in *** seasonal variations of these parameters are important to comprehensively understand animal ecology and its connection with reproductive behavior and energy *** usually estimate the distance traveled as the sum of the straight-line displacements between sampled positions,but this approach is sensitive to the sampling frequency and does not account for the tortuosity of the animal’s *** means of the continuous-time movement modeling which takes into account autocorrelation and tortuosity of movement data,we estimated the distance traveled and monthly home range size of 28 wild boar Sus scrofa and modeled their inter-sexual seasonal *** traveled longer distances and used larger home ranges than females,particularly during the rut in autumn-winter,consistently with the different biological cycles of males and *** enlarged their home ranges during the rut but traveled constant average distances along the year,whereas females traveled shorter distances in correspondence with the peak of food resources and birth periods but exhibited constant home range size across *** differences between the seasonal variation patterns of distance traveled and home range size,observed in both sexes,revealed the complex relationship between these two aspects of spatial behavior and the great opportunity of including both distance traveled and home range size in behavioral ecology inves*** provided a detailed analysis of wild boar spatial behavior and its relationships with the reproductive cycles of males and females,promoting a deeper comprehension of their behavioral ecology.

Optimal orbit transfer of single-tether E-sail with inertially fixed spin axis

This study analyzes the optimal transfer trajectory of a spacecraft propelled by a spinstabilized electric solar wind sail(E-sail)with a single conducting tether and a spin axis with a fixed direction in an inertial(heliocentric)reference *** approach proposed in this study is useful for rapidly analyzing the optimal transfer trajectories of the current generation of small spacecraft designed to obtain in-situ evidence of the E-sail propulsion *** this context,starting with the recently proposed thrust model for a single-tether E-sail,this study discusses the optimal control law and performance in a typical two-dimensional interplanetary transfer by considering the(binary)state of the onboard electron emitter as the single control *** resulting spacecraft heliocentric trajectory is a succession of Keplerian arcs alternated with propelled arcs,that is,the phases in which the electron emitter is switched *** particular,numerical simulations demonstrated that a single-tether E-sail with an inertially fixed spin axis can perform a classical mission scenario as a circle-to-circle two-dimensional transfer by suitably varying a single control parameter.
