A building energy models calibration methodology based on inverse modelling approach

Nowadays,building energy models(BEMs)are widely used,particularly in the assessment of energy consumption in buildings to address the potential savings that can be *** realisation of a dynamic energy model based on high-fidelity physics(white-box models)requires a tuning process to fit the model to reality,due to many uncertainties *** some research trends try to reduce this performance gap by modulating different types of experimental parameters such as:capacitances or *** EnergyPlus simulation software,in its latest versions,has implemented an object:HybridModel:Zone that calculates the infiltration and internal mass of buildings using an inverse modelling approach that employs only the measured indoor temperature data to invert the heat balance equation for the zone under *** main objective of this paper is to reduce the execution time and uncertainties in the development of quality energy models by generating a new calibration methodology that implements this *** uses,as a starting point,a research created by the authors of this study,which was empirically and comparatively validated against the energy models developed by the participants in Annex *** is also worth highlighting the empirical validation of the HybridModel:Zone object,since it was activated in all scenarios where its execution is possible:periods of seven days or more of free oscillation and periods in which the building is under *** findings are *** data generated with the new methodology,if compared with those produced by the baseline model,improve their resemblance to the real ones by 22.9%.While those of its predecessor did it by 15.6%.For this study,the two dwellings foreseen in Annex 58 of the IEA EcB project have been modelled and their real monitoring data have been used.

Purpose:The present work examines the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism,physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determined in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were measured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** time spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively measured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the Mediterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seems to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

The present study concerns the revalorization of drained water from aquaculture ponds rearing clarias gariepinus on okra crops. The rearing was carried out at the farm of Gaston Berger University in 100 m2 ponds. In each pond, the individuals of c. garipinus with an average weight of 6 ± 0.3 g were stocked at a density of 11 per m2. The water temperature and pH were measured during the experiment. The control fishing is carried out every month to monitor variations in the weight and size of reared individuals. The plant production is carried out in elementary plots measuring 3 m × 1.5 m. Each plot was fertilized with either: drained water from c. gariepinus rearing (DWc), poultry droppings (PD), cow dung (cD) and mineral fertilizer (NPK). Treatments are carried out in tripliqua with either river water (RW), RW + the recommended dose of NPK (RD-NPK), RW + RD-PD, RW + RD-cD, DWc, DWc + 25% RD-NPK, DWc + 50% RD-NPK, DWc + 75% RD-NPK, DWc + 25% RD-PD, DWc + 50% RD-PD, DWc + 75% RD-PD, DWc + 25% RD-cD, DWc + 50% RD-cD, DWc + 75% RD-cD. Growth parameters and yield of okra were determined. The average temperature in the rearing environment was 27.6 ± 1.5˚c and pH 7.9 ± 1.1. After six (06) months of rearing, c. gariepinus individuals reached an average weight of 850.12 ± 1.3 g and an average height of 52.44 ± 1.1 cm. The daily weight gain and specific growth rates over this period were 3.9 g per day and 2.8% per day, respectively. The treatment T1 (RW + DR-NPK) gave the highest mean collar diameter and mean plant height with 2.3 ± 0.9 cm and 61.6 ± 32 cm, respectively. In T4 (DWc), the mean height of plants was 38.8 ± 23.5 cm and mean collar diameter 1.4 ± 0.8 cm. The growth performance in T4 was comparable to that of RD-cD (T3), but different from RD-NPK (T1) and RD-PD (T2). The highest average number, average weight, average length and average diameter of fruits were noted in treatments T13 (RW + RD-75%cD) and T7 (DWc + 75% RD-NPK). Maize cobs are valuable plant residues that can be used for many different purposes,including as a renewable energy *** their value,maize cobs are still underutilized,mainly because people are not aware of their potential and harvesting techniques for their collection are still being ***,this research focused on finding the most suitable energy-and time-efficient method for mechanical collection of maize *** the combine harvester with an additional hopper proved to be the most promising solution,as it allows harvesting and storage of maize grain and maize cobs in one pass,while the harvesting time remains almost the same and the maize cobs are of good quality,as they do not fall on the field.A prototype with enlarged openings in the straw walkers,an additional grab container for maize cobs,a transport auger,a transport cleaning fan with built-in knives,a transport tube and some other assemblies was fabricated and used in *** first test results are very encouraging(94.4%-96.0%purity of maize cobs)and the system has been patented as a promising solution,especially in times when the environmental sustainability of the planet and energy independence are becoming increasingly important.

Bacterial populations isolated from treated soil,artificially contaminated with lead(Pb)and cadmium(cd)and undergoing a phytoremediation process were studied to determine their potential application in soil *** physicochemical parameters evaluated in the soil varied *** bacterial strains were selected from each polluted soil to test tolerance and growth in contaminated *** concentrations of heavy metals tested were 1,000 ppm for lead and 850 ppm for *** strains were morphologically identified through Gram *** strains showing the most significant growth in both contaminants were then selected to verify their tolerance to different concentrations of heavy *** results demonstrated that the selected bacteria have high tolerance to Pb,resisting inhibition up to 2,000 *** contrast,strains exposed to cadmium tended to slow their growth as the concentration increased.

A multi-shot target assembly and automatic alignment procedure for laser–plasma proton acceleration at high repetition rate are introduced. The assembly is based on a multi-target rotating wheel capable of hosting more than 5000 targets,mounted on a 3D motorized stage to allow rapid replenishment and alignment of the target material between laser irradiations. The automatic alignment procedure consists of a detailed mapping of the impact positions at the target surface prior to the irradiation that ensures stable operation of the target, which alongside the purpose-built design of the target wheel, enables operation at rates up to 10 Hz. Stable and continuous laser-driven proton acceleration at 10 Hz is demonstrated, with observed cut-off energy stability about 15%.
