We demonstrate a novel high-accuracy post-fabrication trimming technique to fine-tune the phase of integrated mach–Zehnder interferometers, enabling permanent correction of typical fabrication-based phase errors. The effective index change of the optical mode is 0.19 in our measurement, which is approximately an order of magnitude improvement compared to previous work with similar excess optical loss. Our measurement results suggest that a phase accuracy of 0.078 rad was achievable with active feedback control.

The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SmILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SmILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SmILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SmILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the Ground-based and Additional Science Working Group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SmILE Data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SmILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

AIm： To evaluate the clinical characteristics of splenic marginal-zone lymphoma （SmZL） following antigen expression and the influence of therapeutic approaches on clinical outcome and overall survival （OS）.mETHODS： A total of 30 patients with typical histological and immunohistochemical SmZL patterns were examined. Splenectomy plus chemotherapy was applied in 20 patients, while splenectomy as a single treatment-option was performed in 10 patients. Prognostic factor and overall survival rate were analyzed.RESULTS： Complete remission （CR） was achieved in 20 （66.7%）, partial remission （PR） in seven （23.3%）, and lethal outcome due to disease progression occurred in three （10.0%） patients. median survival of patients with a splenectomy was 93.0 mo and for patients with splenectomy plus chemotherapy it was 207.5 mo （Log rank = 0.056, P 〉 0.05）. Time from onset of first symptoms to the beginning of the treatment （mean 9.4 too） was influenced by spleen dimensions, as measured by computerized tomography and ultra-sound （t = 2.558, P = 0.018）. Strong positivity （＋＋＋） of CD20 antigen expression in splenic tissue had a positive influence on OS （Log rank = 5.244, P 〈 0.05）. The analysis of factors interfering with survival （by the Kaplan-meier method） revealed that gender, general symptoms, clinical stage, and spleen infiltration type （nodular vs diffuse） had no significant （P 〉 0.05） effects on the OS. The expression of other antigens （immunohistochemistry） also had no effect on survival-rate, as measured by a χ^2 test （P 〉 0.05）.CONCLUSION： Initial splenectomy combined with chemotherapy has been shown to be beneficial due to its advanced remission rate/duration; however, a larger controlled clinical study is required to confirm our findings.

Specific cell subpopulations identified as cancer stem cells(CSCs)can be found in basal cell carcinoma(BCC).Generally,CSCs have a marked trans-differentiation potential that could potentially be used in differentiation ***,there are no studies regarding BCC CSCs *** aim of the study was to analyze the characteristic of CSCs of BCC with emphasis on their differentiation potential upon specific *** staining and cell morphology were used for differentiation confirmation,along with the expression analysis of osteogenic(ALP,BSP,Runx2,OCN,BmP2),chondrogenic(COL1 and COL2A1),adipogenic(PPAR-γ)and neurogenic(Nestin and mAP2)*** CSCs differentiated into osteogenic and chondrogenic lineages,as judged by staining and high expression of specific markers(from 2-to 92-fold higher upon induction).Concomitantly with differentiation,the levels of cancer stem cell markers decreased in the ***-differentiation and neuro-differentiation were *** conclusion,BCC CSCs exhibit the capacity to trans-differentiate,a characteristic that may potentially be useful in the development of new strategies for the treatment of aggressive BCCs.

The aim of this work was to investigate the leaching of chalcopyrite concentrate in hydrochloric acid with hydrogen peroxide as a strong oxidizing agent. The effects of the leaching variables on metal extraction, such as stirring speed, solid-to-liquid ratio, temperature and HCl and H2O2 concentrations, were studied. The maximum final copper extraction of 33% was attained with 3.0 mol/L H2O2 in 0.5 mol/L HCl at room temperature after 180 min of the reaction. The results showed that the copper extraction was increased in the first 60 min of reaction, after which it essentially ceased due to the fast catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Further, solid-to-liquid ratio affected the copper extraction significantly and the highest copper extraction was obtained in the most dilute suspension（i.e., S/L ratio of 1：100）. The dissolution process was described by the first order kinetics equation. The apparent activation energy of 19.6 k J/mol suggested that the dissolution process was under diffusion control. The reaction orders for HCl and H2O2 were established to be 0.30 and 0.53, respectively. The results of the XRD and SEm/EDS analysis of the leaching residue indicated the generation of the elemental sulphur on mineral surfaces which tended to inhibit the leaching rate.

AIm:To explore the problems in the screening of colorecta carcinoma in the elderly. mETHODS:Three models of colorectal cancer prevention were examined:standard screening,active check-up of suspected cases and summons to have endoscopic check- up for previously diagnosed colorectal *** study was performed among three groups of elderly individuals: Group 1 (167 cases),hospitalized asymptomatic individuals without symptoms in large *** 2 (612 cases): old individuals at home for the aged,out of which 32 showed symptoms of colon disorders;Group 3 (44 cases):elderly people with diagnosed *** a result of 1788 rectosigmoidoscopies,we identified 61 individuals with polyps,out of which 44 patients were over 65 years old. However,only 9 of these 44 individuals agreed to have the endoscopy performed again. RESULTS:One cancer and 13 polyps were detected in Group 1,and two polyps in Group ***,it should be noted that only eleven individuals from Group 2 agreed to have the *** Group 3,there were no relapses of the polyps among the nine individuals who came back for the endoscopy. CONCLUSION:Poor understanding of the screening procedures is one of the greatest problems in early detection of the cancer in the ***,the cooperation is better with hospitalized patients,than with 'successfully old' persons.

Background Drug-eluting stents （DES） are the most common device used in percutaneous treatment of coronary artery disease. Recently, there has been an increased concern regarding their safety profile, in particular the late and very late stent thrombosis rate compared to bare metal stents （BmS）. The aim of the study was to compare the reported incidence of late and very late stent thrombosis of DES and BmS in patients from published clinical studies with an extended follow-up period to four *** A search strategy was developed to identify publications reporting on late or very late thrombosis of BmS and DES available through mEDLINE and Cochrane Library databases. Two independent reviewers appraised eligible studies and extracted data. Odds ratios （OR） were calculated for each outcome and presented with 95% confidence intervals （CI）.Results Fourteen randomized controlled trials, which were at least single blinded, were identified. There was no difference in the incidence of late and very late stent thrombosis in patients treated with DES compared with patients treated with BmS （late OR 0.55, 95%Cl 0.23-1.31 and late/very late OR=1.08, 95%CI 0.61-1.91）.Conclusions The safety profile of DES was similar to BmS in terms of stent thrombosis. We found no evidence of increased risk of late and very late thrombosis for DES.
