Artificial muscles are capable of generating actuation in microsystems with outstanding *** years have witnessed a growing academic interest in artificial muscles and their application in many areas,such as soft robotics and biomedical *** paper aims to provide a comparative review of recent advances in artificial muscle based on various operating *** advantages and limitations of each operating mechanism are analyzed and *** to the unique application requirements and electrical and mechanical properties of the muscle types,we suggest suitable artificial muscle mechanisms for specific microsystem ***,we discuss potential strategies for energy delivery,conversion,and storage to promote the energy autonomy of microrobotic systems at a system level.

With the increased design complexities brought in by applying different Reticle Enhancement Technologies (RETs) in nanometer-scale IC manufacturing process, post-RET sign-off verification is quickly becoming necessary. By introducing innovative algorithms for lithographic modeling, silicon imaging and yield problem locating, this paper describes a new methodology of IC manufacturability verification based on Dense Silicon Imaging (DSI). Necessity of imaging based verification is analyzed. Existing post-RET verification methods are reviewed and compared to the new methodology. Due to the greatly improved computational efficiency produced by algorithms such as the ~16*log2N/log2M times faster Specialized FFT, DSI based manufacturability checks on full IC scale, which were impractical for applications before, are now realized. Real verification example has been demonstrated and studied as well.

SnO\-2 prepared with the sol-gel technique at different temperatures was used as an anode material of the lithium-ion battery. We obtained the qualititave relationship between the electrochemical performance of tin oxide anode material and each of its carbon component, particle size, structure and surface morphology in detail. It was found that the best electrochemical performance can be reached by controlling the physical characteristics of SnO\-2, which was affected greatly by the treatment temperature. The SnO\-2 obtained at 600 ℃ was pure. When it was used as the anode material of the lithium-ion battery, it demonstrated a high initial specific capacity of 770 mA\5h/g.

Matrigel is routinely used as a coating material in the feeder-free culture system of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). However, matrigel is costive and inconvenient to use. In this study, the possibility of using gelatin as an alternative coating material was investigated. The results showed that, after trypsinization, hESCs were maintained undifferentiated on gelatin. These hESCs expressed pluripotent markers, formed teratoma and maintained a normal karyotype. As measured at passage 10, the hESCs expressed a high level of Oct4 on both gelatin and Matrigel. hESCs growing on gelatin formed AP-positive colonies in similar size and number to those growing on Matrigel (P > 0.05). Moreover, hESCs growing on gelatin contained a comparable percentage of SSEA-4-positive cells to those growing on Matrigel (95.1% vs.94.3%, P > 0.05). H-1 hESCs were maintained undifferentiated on gelatin for 20 passages and remained the stable normal karyotype. This gelatin-based culture protocol may allow us to propagate hESCs in large scale, with less cost.

Study on Dynamic Information of Animal Genetic Resources in China

The dynamic information of 331 animal genetic resources in 17 important animal genetic resource provinces (regions) was analyzed. According to the population inbreeding coefficient, combining with the information of population dynamic change trend and cross degree, these genetic resources for threatened degrees were classified. The results indicated that the population size of 138 breeds had increased, 147 breeds had decreased, 3 breeds were constant, 7 breeds (or varieties) were extinct, 9 breeds (or varieties) were critically endangered and needed urgently conserve, 50 breeds (or varieties) were endangered and should be conserved. We put forward a conservation and utilization plan for animal genetic resources.

洋山深水港风暴增、减水特征

依据小洋山1997年8月至2002年12月的实测潮位,采用王骥、方国洪的分潮模式,进行潮汐调和分析,给出天文潮预报,对期间的实测潮位进行增、减水分离,获取洋山深水港区风暴增、减水特征,以及典型的风暴的增减水过程,经对1998—2002年实测资料分离,≥30cm的增水年均17.2场,≥30cm的减水年均9场,引发严重增水的主要是台风。同时检索、比对大量的台风资料,分析引发洋山港海域严重和特大风暴潮的台风路径主要是在浙江北部到长江口沿海登陆的台风和在浙江北部、上海市近海北上或转向的台风。
