Enhancing Skin Cancer Diagnosis with Deep Learning:A Hybrid CNN-RNN Approach

Skin cancer diagnosis is difficult due to lesion presentation variability. Conventionalmethods struggle to manuallyextract features and capture lesions spatial and temporal variations. This study introduces a deep learning-basedConvolutional and Recurrent Neural Network (CNN-RNN) model with a ResNet-50 architecture which usedas the feature extractor to enhance skin cancer classification. Leveraging synergistic spatial feature extractionand temporal sequence learning, the model demonstrates robust performance on a dataset of 9000 skin lesionphotos from nine cancer types. Using pre-trained ResNet-50 for spatial data extraction and Long Short-Termmemory (LSTm) for temporal dependencies, the model achieves a high average recognition accuracy, surpassingprevious methods. The comprehensive evaluation, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, underscoresthe model’s competence in categorizing skin cancer types. This research contributes a sophisticated model andvaluable guidance for deep learning-based diagnostics, also this model excels in overcoming spatial and temporalcomplexities, offering a sophisticated solution for dermatological diagnostics research.

Cartesian Product Based Transfer Learning Implementation for Brain Tumor Classification

Knowledge-based transfer learning techniques have shown good performance for brain tumor classification,especially with small ***,to obtain an optimized model for targeted brain tumor classification,it is challenging to select a pre-trained deep learning(DL)model,optimal values of hyperparameters,and optimization algorithm(solver).This paper first presents a brief review of recent literature related to brain tumor ***,a robust framework for implementing the transfer learning technique is *** the proposed framework,a Cartesian product matrix is generated to determine the optimal values of the two important hyperparameters:batch size and learning *** extensive exercise consisting of 435 simulations for 11 state-of-the-art pre-trained DL models was performed using 16 paired hyperparameters from the Cartesian product matrix to input the model with the three most popular solvers(stochastic gradient descent with momentum(SGDm),adaptive moment estimation(ADAm),and root mean squared propagation(RmSProp)).The 16 pairs were formed using individual hyperparameter values taken from literature,which generally addressed only one hyperparameter for optimization,rather than making a grid for a particular *** proposed framework was assessed using a multi-class publicly available dataset consisting of glioma,meningioma,and pituitary *** assessment shows that ResNet18 outperforms all other models in terms of accuracy,precision,specificity,and recall(sensitivity).The results are also compared with existing state-of-the-art research work that used the same *** comparison was mainly based on performance metric“accuracy”with support of three other parameters“precision,”“recall,”and“specificity.”The comparison shows that the transfer learning technique,implemented through our proposed framework for brain tumor classification,outperformed all existing *** the best of our knowledge,the proposed framework is a

Increasing demand for better throughput and performance has motivated designers to come up with more sophisticated processors with innovative designs. Such designs for multicore architectures offer large amount of parallelism which is often underutilized and thus becomes overhead and liability. Due to these advancements, there has been a exponential increase in power consumption and heat dissipation of computing devices. Under these circumstances, an ideal system would be a reconfigurable system that can switch off all underutilized resources and work with only required ones. There is a need of reconfigurable computing devices and processors that are smart enough to configure themselves dynamically on runtime to find balance between throughput and power-consumption. This paper proposes a novel fuzzy logic based Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling(DVFS)and power-gating enabled controller which is capable of reducing power-consumption without affecting throughput and overall performance of the system. The design is implemented on Intel processor using Ubuntu as an operating system. Implementation results show that proposed Fuzzy logic controller(FLC) reduces power-consumption upto 40% by reconfiguring the processor dynamically without compromising the throughput.

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to propose a model to map the on-premise computing system of the university with cloud computing for achieving an effective and reliable university e-governance(e-gov)***/methodology/approach–The proposed model incorporates the university’s internal e-gov system with cloud computing in order to achieve better reliability,accessibility and availability of e-gov services while keeping the recurring expenditure *** model has been implemented(and tested on a university e-gov system)in the University of Kashmir(UOK);case study of this implementation has been chosen as the research methodology to discuss and demonstrate the proposed ***–According to the results based on practical implementation,the proposed model is ideal for e-governed systems as it provided adequate cost savings and high availability(HA)with operational ease,apart from continuing to have the necessary security in place to maintain confidential information such as student details,grades,*** implications–The implication of this study is to achieve HA and to reduce the cost from using external clouds,mapping internal IT servers of the university with the external cloud computing ***/value–Because no established mapping model for universities has been provided for effective,low-cost,highly available university e-gov system,the proposed mapping model through this paper closes this gap and provides guidelines to implement a hybrid-mapped e-gov model for universities while keeping the recurring expenditure on cloud computing *** paper provides the perceptions of its adoption at UOK for achieving high reliability,accessibility and uptime of its e-gov applications while keeping the recurring expenditure on cloud computing minimal.
