The FUT2 loss-of-function mutations are highly prevalent and are associated with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).To investigate the impact of FUT2 loss-of-function mutation on the gut microbiota in patients with IBD,81 endoscopically confirmed IBD patients were genotyped and divided into 3 groups:homozygous for functional FUT2 genes(SeSe),with one copy of non-functional FUT2 gene(Sese),or homozygous for non-functional FUT2 genes(sese).Escherichia,which attaches to fucosylated glycoconjugates,was the only abundant genus exhibiting decreased abundance in sese *** with SeSe or Sese patients,sese patients exhibited higher abundance in CD8+inducing Alistipe and Phascolarctobacterium and Th17 inducing Erysipelotrichaceae ***-intuitively,butyrate-producing bacteria were more abundant in sese ***,metabolomics analysis found higher levels of butyrate in sese *** data support the hypothesis that FUT2 loss-of-function mutation participates in the IBD pathogenesis by decreasing binding sites for adherent bacteria and thus altering the gut *** abundances of adherent bacteria may allow the overgrowth of bacteria that induce inflammatory T cells,leading to intestinal *** FUT2 loss-of-function mutations are highly prevalent,the identification of T cell inducing bacteria in sese patients could be valuable for the development of personalized microbial intervention for IBD.

A New Cockroach Colony Optimization Algorithm for Global Numerical Optimization

Inspired by the behavior of cockroaches in nature, this paper presents a new optimization algorithm called Cockroach colony optimization(CCO). In the CCO algorithm, nests of cockroaches are placed at the"corner" of the search space. The current best solution to the optimization problem called food can split some of the search targets by applying the logistic multi-peak map and the margin control strategies. By using a particular search scheme, the individual cockroaches can accomplish a highly efficient global and local search in each crawling process from a nest to a search target. The paper provides a formal convergence proof for the CCO algorithm. Experiment results show that the CCO algorithm can be applied to solve global numerical optimization problems with the characteristics of quick convergence and high precision.

Based on the Cockroach Swarm Optimization （CSO） algorithm, a new Cockroach Colony Optimization （CCO） algorithm is presented and applied to the Robot Path Planning （RPP） problem in this paper. In the CCO algorithm, an improved grid map is used for environment modeling, and 16-geometry and 8-geometry are introduced, respectively, in food division and cockroach search operation. Moreover, the CCO algorithm adopts a non-probabilistic search strategy, which avoids a lot of invalid searches. Furthermore, by introducing a novel rotation scheme in the above CCO algorithm, an Adaptive Cockroach Colony Optimization （ACCO） algorithm is presented for the 2-D Rod-Like Robot Path Planning （RLRPP） problem. The simulation results show that the CCO algorithm can plan an optimal or approximately optimal collision-free path with linear time com- plexities. With the ACCO algorithm, the robot can accomplish intelligent and adaptive rotations to avoid obstacles and pass through narrow passages along the better path.
