Composite structures of ZSM‐5 zeolites were prepared by the synthesis of mesopores and mi‐cropores using carbon nanotubes as a template. Dealumination of mesopores was performed selec‐tively using trichloroacetic acid, which could only diffuse into the mesopores and not the mi‐cropores owing to the size of the trichloroacetic acid molecules. Empty spaces are created in the catalyst as a result of removal of the Al atoms from the zeolite structure. If Si atoms fill the empty space, then the structure of the mesopores becomes similar to silicates, which do not have any cata‐lytic properties. Silicon containing solution was used to fill the empty spaces, and in doing so, a unique method was developed, by which silicon atoms can directly replace the extracted Al atoms from the mesopore structure. Therefore, by changing the geometry and properties of the mesopores and micropores, the amount of coke reduced from 14%for HZSM‐5 to 3%for the modified zeolite.

AIM:To document the prognosis of laser treatment in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration(AMD).· METHODS:Efficacy of the intervention was evaluated using a before-after method.· RESULTS:A total of 392 eyes of 341 patients with exudative AMD were examined.77.6% had choroideal neovascularisation(CNV).Before the use of indocyanine green(ICG) angiography,occult CNV was detected in only 1.8% of the eyes,but after the use of ICG angiography,this increased to 19.5%(P<0.001).Of the 349 eyes which were followed up,visual acuity had remained stable in 68.2% of the *** was a statistically significant relationship between localisation of lesion and visual acuity changes on pre-and post-laser treatment(P<0.001).Also there was a statistically significant relationship between localisation of lesion and recurrence(P<0.05).The recurrence was less in subfoveal lesions than that in juxtafoveal and extrafoveal lesions.· CONCLUSION:ICG angiography is highly important in the treatment of occult CNV.

Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and microarchitecture deterioration of bone tissue, leading to enhanced bone fragility and consequent increase in fracture risk. Evidence is accumulating for an important role of calcium deficiency as the process of aging is associated with disturbed calcium balance. Vitamin D is the principal factor that maintains calcium homeostasis. Increasing evidence indicates that the reason for disturbed calcium balance with age is inadequate vitamin D levels in the elderly. In this article, an overview of our current understanding of vitamin D, its metabolism, and mechanisms involved in vitamin D-mediated maintenance of calcium homeostasis is presented. In addition, mechanisms involved in age-related dysregulation of 1,25（OH）2D3 action, recommended daily doses of vitamin D and calcium, and the use of vitamin D analogs for the treatment of osteoporosis （which remains controversial） are reviewed. Elucidation of the molecular pathways of vitamin D action and modifications that occur with aging will be an active area of future research that has the potential to reveal new therapeutic strategies to maintain calcium balance.

I am Dr. Baran Kandemir, from Opthalmology Department of Dr. Ltitfi Kirdar Kartal Research and Training Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey. 1 write to present outcomes of penetrating keratoplasty （PK） in monocular patients. Bilateral visual impairment has important impacts on health-related quality of life and its physical and psychological consequences are proposed to be comparable to other important chronic medical illnesses . Therefore in monocular patients, an unsuccessful surgical intervention that might lead to permanent visual loss would have some negative reflections on life quality of the patient.

In order to prepare a specific melanocortin type 2 receptor (MC2R) ligand, β1-24-corticotrophin was prepared in one-step reaction with [18F] SFB and β-1-24-corticotrophin pharmaceutical solution (1 mg/mL, pH=6.5). [18F]SFB was prepared in a semi-automated module in two steps with an overall radiochemical yield of 47% to EOB (not-decay corrected) in 90 min. The 18F-labeled intermediates and 18F-labeled peptide was checked by RTLC and HPLC. The results show that the radiochemical purity is >95% and the yield to EOB (not-decay corrected) is 29% for final 18F-labeled peptide at optimized conditions. Preliminary in vivo studies in normal mice were performed to determine biodistribution of the 18F-labeled peptide for 150 min. The results show that the major tracer uptake is consistent with the natural distribution of MC2R receptors in mammals. Testes/blood and testes/muscle ratios for 18F-labeled peptide at 150 min were 184 and 1.56, respectively, and adipocyte/blood and adipocyte/muscle ratios at 120 min were 221 and 142, respectively. The data support the specific receptor binding of the radiolabeled peptide as reported for MC2R receptor accumulation in adipocytes and testes and demonstrates the retention of biological activity of the peptide. This tracer can be used in detection of MC2R distribution in malignancies and sex organ diseases.

Purpose: To present a case of sensory strabismus due to keratoconus with an ipsilateral nodular lesion of the bulbar conjunctiva. Case presentation:The patient is a 17 year-old-boy. The fixing eye was the right eye and keratoconus in this eye was late onset. Vision in the left eye was poor and keratoconus was advanced in this eye. Due to longstanding of keratoconus and occurrence in the sensitive period, sensory exotropia had developed in the left eye. A nodular lesion of the bulbar conjunctiva was also present in the ipsilateral eye. Conclusion: Sensory exotropia is not unusual but to be due to longstanding keratoconus is not a usual strabismus. If keratoconus develops before 7 years of age,sensory strabismus can develop. We reported and reviewed literature that keratoconus seldom begins in the sensitive period where abnormal visual experience affects visual development and may induce sensory exotropia.

BACKGROUND Microsatellite instability(MSI)is a predictive biomarker for cancer *** tumor-agnostic nature of MSI makes it a denominator for immunotherapy in several solid *** can be assessed using next-generation sequencing(NGS),fluorescent multiplex PCR,and immunohistochemistry(IHC).CASE SUMMARY Here,we report 3 cases with discordant MSI results detected using different methods.A cholangiocellular carcinoma case revealed proficient mismatch repair(MMR)by IHC but high MSI(MSI-H)by liquid NGS.A cervical cancer case revealed deficient MMR by IHC,microsatellite stable by PCR,and MSI-H by ***,an endometrial cancer case revealed proficient MMR by IHC but MSI-H by *** IHC for MMR status is the first choice due to several ***,in cases of indeterminate IHC results,molecular testing by MSI-PCR is ***,NGS-based MSI assays are being widely used to detect MSI-H *** three methods have high accuracy;however,the inconsistencies between them may lead to misdiagnosis.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is increasingly occurring in sedentary people, and may progress to NASH and hepatocellular carcinoma. It is essential to design affordable animal models for the study of various diseases, including fatty liver, which was the aim of the study. In this study, a high-fat diet was devised that triggers NASH’s animal model quickly and easily. High-fat diet(HFD) was used both with intra-mouth oral gavage and in combination with animal ***: Twenty-four male C57 BL/6 J mice were divided into HFD and ND groups, which received a high-fat diet and a normal diet, respectively. At the end of the experiment(fourth week of treatment), body and liver weights, biochemical parameters, PPAR-α gene expression and histopathologic characteristics of the liver were ***: During 4 weeks, body weight of mice did not show a significant increase in the HFD group compared to the ND group, while weight gain of the liver was significant. Histological assessment of the HFD group’s liver confirmed NASH symptoms. In the HFD group, HDL-c, SOD, catalase, FRAP, adiponectin, and PPAR-α decreased significantly, and lipid profiles, hepatic enzymes, MDA, leptin, and TNF-α showed a significant increase compared to the ND ***: Our high-fat diet has successfully induced all aspects of NASH with fibrosis in 4 weeks, and with low cost.

Lermontov, who lived and gave masterpieces in 19th century known as golden age of Russian literature, had thought on conflict of good and bad throughout his life and reflected it to his works. In the most part of his works, there are struggles of good with bad. This analysis should be done in concept of social determinism, so it must be done in the light of social criticism theory. In his work ＂Beyond Good and Evil＂ Nietzche asked some questions like ＂What is good？ What is bad？＂, too. In our study we＇ll try to analyze the famous philosopher＇s opinions in Lermontov＇s ＂Masquerade＂ by reviewing these opinions in the concept of social criticism. This study has an interesting point of view like analyzing the place of a Russian writer in the parallel of Europian literature
