Different mechanisms underlie similar species-area relationships in two tropical archipelagoes

Despite much research in the field of island biogeography,mechanisms regulating insular diversity remain ***,we aim to explore mechanisms underlying plant species-area relationships in two tropical archipelagoes in the South China *** found positive plant species-area relationships for both coral and continental ***,our results showed that different mechanisms contributed to similar plant species-area relationships between the two *** coral islands,soil nutrients and spatial distance among communities played major roles in shaping plant community structure and species *** contrast,the direct effect of island area,and to a lesser extent,soil nutrients determined plant species richness on continental ***,increasing soil nutrients availability(N,P,K)had opposite effects on plant diversity between the two *** summary,the habitat quality effect and dispersal limitation are important for regulating plant diversity on coral islands,whereas the passive sampling effect,and to a lesser extent,the habitat quality effect are important for regulating plant diversity on continental *** generally,our findings indicate that island plant species-area relationships are outcomes of the interplay of both niche and neutral processes,but the driving mechanisms behind these relationships depends on the type of islands.

Objective Viral encephalitis is an infectious disease severely affecting human *** is caused by a wide variety of viral pathogens,including herpes viruses,flaviviruses,enteroviruses,and other *** laboratory diagnosis of viral encephalitis is a worldwide ***,high-throughput sequencing technology has provided new tools for diagnosing central nervous system ***,In this study,we established a multipathogen detection platform for viral encephalitis based on amplicon *** We designed nine pairs of specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR)primers for the 12 viruses by reviewing the relevant *** detection ability of the primers was verified by software simulation and the detection of known positive *** sequencing was used to validate the samples,and consistency was compared with Sanger *** The results showed that the target sequences of various pathogens were obtained at a coverage depth level greater than 20×,and the sequence lengths were consistent with the sizes of the predicted *** sequences were verified using the National Center for Biotechnology Information BLAST,and all results were consistent with the results of Sanger *** Amplicon-based high-throughput sequencing technology is feasible as a supplementary method for the pathogenic detection of viral *** is also a useful tool for the high-volume screening of clinical samples.

针对TiAl合金抗热腐蚀性能不足的问题,采用扩散渗法在其表面制备了Al-Y渗层,研究了催化剂类型对渗层组织结构的影响,分析了渗层的热冲击性能,对比研究了TiAl基体和Al-Y渗层在25%NaCl+75%Na2SO4熔盐(质量分数wt.%)中的热腐蚀行为。结果表明:用不同催化剂制备的Al-Y渗层具有相似的结构,与基体均为良好的冶金结合,由外向内均由富Al外层、TiAl_(3)中间层和TiAl_(2)内层构成,但当采用NH_(4)Cl为催化剂时,渗层的致密度和均匀性较用NaF和AlCl_(3)∙6H_(2)O催化剂好。在1000℃热冲击下,Al-Y渗层较基体合金具有更强的抗热冲击性能。TiAl合金在热腐蚀时,基体中的片层状α_(2)-Ti_(3)Al相首先与O、S介质发生选择性腐蚀,随后形成灾难性腐蚀;而Al-Y涂层在热腐蚀初期会形成致密的Al_(2)O_(3)氧化膜,有效地保护了渗层,随着热腐蚀时间的延长,由于渗层内原子的内外扩散和腐蚀应力,渗层逐渐开裂,裂纹成为O和S元素的扩散通道,但在此过程中,渗层中的TiAl_(3)相发生分解,为裂纹部位提供Al源并形成Al_(2)O_(3)来填补裂纹,延缓了O和S原子的内扩散速率,增强了TiAl合金的耐热腐蚀性能。

Seasonal and Tissue Age Influences on Endophytic Fungi of Pinus tabulaeformis (Pinaceae) in the dongling Mountains, Beijing

Endophytic fungi associated with Pinus tabulaeformis Carr. were investigated in the dongling Mountains of Beijing. A total of 16200 tissue segments of P. tabulaeformis from four sample collections were processed, and 10659 fungal isolates were recovered. The overall colonization and isolation rates of endophytic fungi from high to low were spring〉winter〉autumn〉summer and in different tissues were bark〉needle〉xylem, irrespective of sampling seasons. The colonization rates of endophytic fungi of needles increased with age in the four sample collections. There were no significant differences of the colonization rates of endophytic fungi among 1-, 2-, and 3-year-old bark and xylem, except for significantly lower colonization rates in 1-year-old bark than in 2- and 3-year-old bark in summer. A similar trend of the isolation rates of endophytic fungi occurred. A total of 24 fungal taxa were recorded, of these five taxa Alternaria alternata, Leptostroma sp., Pestalotiopsis besseyi, Phoma lingam, and Phomopsis archeri, were consistently isolated as the common fungi in each sample collection. Our results suggest that some fungi show a certain degree of tissue recurrence or specificity, and the composition of endophytic assemblages is not conspicuously influenced by the seasonal factor.

Abstract The number of human rabies cases acquired from dog bites constitutes a high proportion of the total rabies cases in China, although the number of human rabies cases has gradually decreased in recent years. The pivotal role of dogs in the spread of rabies indicates that controlling and preventing canine rabies could be a key step in eradicating human rabies in China. The primary aims of this review are to discuss the properties and pathogenesis of the rabies virus, the clinical signs and diagnosis of canine rabies, threshold host density and vaccination of dogs, and the prevention and control of canine rabies in China.

Nonlocal Optical Spatial Soliton with a Non-parabolic Symmetry and Real-valued Convolution Response Kernel

Based on the picture of nonJinear and non-parabolic symmetry response, i.e., Δn2 （I） ≈ ρ（ao ＋ a1x - a2 x^2）, we propose a model for the transversal beam intensity distribution of the nonlocal spatial soliton. In this model, as a convolution response with non-parabolic symmetry, Δn2 （I）≈ρ（b0＋ b1f - b2 f^2 with b2/b1 〉 0 is assumed. Furthermore, instead of the wave function Ψ, the high-order nonlinear equation for the beam intensity distribution f has been derived and the bell-shaped soliton solution with the envelope form has been obtained. The results demonstrate that, since the existence of the terms of non-parabolic response, the nonlocal spatial soliton has the bistable state solution. If the frequency shift of wave number β satisfies 0 〈 4（β - ρbo/μ）〈 3η0/8α, the bistable state soliton solution is stable against perturbation. It should be emphasized that the soliton solution arising from a parabolic-symmetry response kernel is trivial. The sufficient condition for the existence of bistable state soliton solution b2/b1〉 0 has been demonstrated.

Pathogenicity of Rabies Viruses Isolated in China: Two Fixed Strains and a Street Strain

Objective To investigate the virulence characteristics of two fixed strains （CTN and aG） and a street strain （HNIO） of rabies viruses isolated in China, Methods ICR mice of different age groups were via the intracracerebral （i.c.） or intramuscular （i.m inoculated with CTN, aG and HN10 rabies virus strains ） routes, and observed for 20 days. Results The CTN strain was pathogenic to 7-day-old suckling mice that received i.c. inoculations and 3-day-old suckling mice that received i.m. inoculations. The aG strain was pathogenic to 4-week-old mice that received i.c. inoculations and 7-day-old suckling mice that received i.m. inoculations. The HN10 strain was pathogenic to mice of all age groups via both inoculation routes. In moribund mice, the viruses had spread to most regions of the brain. The CTN and HN10 strains had similar dissemination patterns in the brain; both viral antigens could be found in the dentate gyrus （DG）, whereas few viral antigens were present in the DG from specimens that had been infected with the aG strain. Conclusion A comprehensive sequence analysis of the G protein suggested that differences in gene sequences may be responsible for producing strain-specific differences in pathogenicity and distribution in the brain.

Factors Influencing the Number of Rabies Cases in Children in China

To understand the epidemic situation and factors influencing rabies cases in children in China, we obtained an overview of the current epidemic based on individual data of rabies cases in children and a descriptive analysis was carried on the prevalence and related factors. The results showed that the rabies cases in children accounted for 21.3% of the total number of rabies cases in China, 97.0% of these cases occurred in rural areas, they were mainly caused by dogs （81.5%）, and were primarily level Ill exposure （47.7%）. More than half of the cases were not treated with wound care, vaccination rate was extremely low （15.7%）, and only 5.9% of cases were injected with antibodies. Furthermore, 25.4% of cases adopted incorrect treatments such as extruding bleed and wound closure, cases vaccinated with 5 injections acco- unted for only 22.5%. In conclusion, the prevalence of rabies cases in children in China remains a serious concern, the number and immune status of dogs in rural areas, and knowledge of rabies by risk populations should be considered in future rabies prevention and control programs.
