Objective Cognitive impairment(CI)in older individuals has a high morbidity rate worldwide,with poor diagnostic methods and susceptible population *** study aimed to investigate the relationship between different retinal metrics and CI in a particular population,emphasizing polyvascular *** We collected information from the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community Study on retinal vessel calibers,retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness,and cognitive function of 3,785participants,aged 40 years or *** regression was used to analyze the relationship between retinal metrics and cognitive *** stratified by different vascular statuses were also *** RNFL thickness was significantly thinner in the CI group(odds ratio:0.973,95%confidence interval:0.953–0.994).In the subgroup analysis,the difference still existed in the non-intracranial arterial stenosis,non-extracranial carotid arterial stenosis,and peripheral arterial disease subgroups(P<0.05).Conclusion A thin RNFL is associated with CI,especially in people with non-large vessel *** underlying small vessel change in RNFL and CI should be investigated in the future.

Equal channel angle pressing is recognized for its ability to refine alloy grains and alter grain orientation, thereby achieve better mechanical performance of the magnesium alloy. This study investigates the microstructures,dynamic recrystallization mechanism, texture development, and mechanical performance of GW94K(Mg–8.7Gd–4.18Y–0.42Zr wt. %) Mg alloy following ECAP-4 passes at 400°C and 3 mm/min. Results show that when high-temperature deformation is undertaken, twin formation is suppressed while dislocation slip is facilitated, increasing dislocation density during deformation. Following ECAP deformation, the sample displayed higher fracture elongation, TYS, and UTS than the as-solutioned GW94K alloy. In particular, the GW94K alloy performed well mechanically after ECAP-4 passes, with an ultimate TYS of 231 MPa, an UTS of 290 MPa, and an elongation of 14.8 %. DDRX and shear bands induce CDRX, both of which are important in plastic deformation. as well as in modifying microstructure and grain orientation during ECAP deformation.

Orthorhombic Nb_(2)O_(5)(T-Nb_(2)O_(5))is attractive for fast-charging li-ion batteries,but it is still hard to realize rapid charge transfer kinetics for li-ion ***,F-doped T-Nb_(2)O_(5) microﬂowers(F-Nb_(2)O_(5))are rationally synthesized through topotactic ***,F-Nb_(2)O_(5) are assembled by single-crystal nanoﬂakes with nearly 97%exposed(100)facet,which maximizes the exposure of the feasible li^(+)transport pathways along loosely packed 4g atomic layers to the electrolytes,thus effectively enhancing the li^(+)-intercalation ***,the band gap of F-Nb_(2)O_(5) is reduced to 2.87 eV due to the doping of F atoms,leading to enhanced electrical *** synergetic effects between tailored exposed crystal facets,F-doping,and ultrathin building blocks,speed up the li^(+)/electron transfer kinetics and improve the pseudocapacitive properties of F-Nb_(2)O_(5).Therefore,F-Nb_(2)O_(5) exhibit superior rate capability(210.8 and 164.9 mAh g^(-1) at 1 and 10 C,respectively)and good long-term 10 C cycling performance(132.7 mAh g^(-1) after 1500 cycles).

Hydrogen energy stands out as one of the most promising alternative energy sources due to its cleanliness and *** water splitting offers a sustainable pathway for hydrogen ***,the kinetic rate of the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is sluggish,emphasizing the critical need for stable and highly active electrocatalysts to facilitate HER and enhance reaction *** metal-based catalysts have garnered attention for their favorable catalytic activity in electrochemical hydrogen evolution in alkaline *** this investigation,flower-like nanorods of MoS_(2) were directly synthesized in situ on a nickel foam substrate,followed by the formation of MoP/MoS_(2)-nickel foam(NF)heterostructures through high-temperature phosphating in a tube furnace *** findings reveal that MoP/MoS_(2)-NF-450 exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic performance in an alkaline milieu,demonstrating a low overpotential(90 mV)and remarkable durability at a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2).Comprehensive analysis indicates that the introduction of phosphorus(P)atoms enhances the synergistic effect with MoS_(2),while the distinctive flower-like nanorod structure of MoS_(2) exposes more active ***,the interface between the MoP/MoS_(2) heterostructure and NF facilitates electron transfer during hydrogen evolution,thereby enhancing electrocatalytic *** design and synthesis of such catalysts offer a valuable approach for the development of high-performance hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts.

The grain boundary diffusion process(GBDP) of Dy and DyAl on sintered NdFeB magnets was conducted via magnetron-sputtering deposition of Dy and DyAl films to enhance coercivity(H_(cj)),The magnetic properties,microstructure and anti-corrosion properties of Dy-surface-alloying NdFeB magnets obtained via magnetron sputtering and thermal diffusion were *** H_(cj) of the Dy_(95)Al_(5)-NdFeB magnet increases by 32.68%,while the remanence declines ***,X-ray diffraction and microstructural analysis confirm the formation of Dy-rich shells,the higher-magnetic-anisotropy field of hard(Nd_(x)Dy_(1-x))2(FeAl)_(14)B magnetic phases and an optimised grain boundary structu re,contributing to the H_(cj)enhancement of the *** elemental distribution and diffusion mechanism of the magnets are also ***,the corrosion resistance of the Dy_(95)Al_(5)-NdFeB magnet is substantially improved by enhancing the electrochemical stability and optimising the distribution and morphology of the intergranular *** findings of this study are of substantial importance in the development of low-heavy rare-earth sintered NdFeB magnets.

Screening of QHF formula for effective ingredients from Chinese herbs and its anti-hepatic cell cancer effect in combination with chemotherapy

Background Recent studies have shown that effective ingredients of Chinese herbs are used more and more widely in the treatment or co-treatment of cancers, however, they are usually used separately and there has been limited research about joint application of Chinese herbs in multi-modal treatment. The aim of this study was to screen a QHF （Q： Qingrejiedu, H： Huoxuehuayu and F： Fuzhengguben） formula for effective ingredients from Chinese medicines and assess its anti-hepatic cell cancer （HCC） effect in combination with chemotherapy.Methods Six effective ingredients from Chinese medicine were selected based on the previous literature and used in the study. The QHF formula and the best ratio of ingredients were evaluated in H22 mouse （KM） models with solid tumors and ascites tumors by uniform design and monitoring inhibition of tumor growth and survival. We then observed the anti-hepatic cell cancer （HCC） effect of QHF when combined with cisplatin （DDP） in H22 mouse （Balb/c） models with solid tumors and ascites tumors. Evaluating of the therapeutic effect included the general condition of the mice, inhibition of tumor growth, survival, changes in body weight, thymus index, spleen index and WBC counts.Results The optimal QHF dose ratio for anti-hepatic cell cancer treatment was： 800 mg/kg Cinobufotalin, 14 mg/kg Ginsenosides Rg3, 5.5 mg/kg PNS and 100 mg/kg Lentinan. Treatment was more efficient in inhibiting the growth of transplanted tumors in H22 mice when using the QHF formula （55.91%） than using Cinobufotalin （33.25%）, Ginsenosides Rg3 （35.11%）, PNS （27.12%） or Lentinan （4.97%） separately. QHF also prolonged the life of H22 ascites hepatic cancer mice more efficiently （38.13%） than Cinobufotalin （25.00%）, Ginsenosides Rg3 （27.27%）, PNS （23.30%） or Lentinan （24.43%）. QHF combined with DDP could reduce DDP-induced leucopenia, spleen and thymus atrophy and other toxic reactions. Combining QHF with DDP the tumor growth inhibition reached 82.54% with a 66.83% incr

Biological structural materials not only exhibit remarkable mechanical properties but also often embody dynamic characteristics such as environmental responsiveness,autonomy,and self-healing,which are difficult to achieve in conventional engineering *** merging materials science,synthetic biology,and other disciplines,engineered living materials(ELMs)provide a promising solution to combine living organisms with abiotic components,thus facilitating the construction of functional“living”*** natural materials,ELMs possess vitality and hold immense application potential in areas such as medicine,electronics,and construction,captivating increasing research attention *** an emerging branch of ELMs,structural ELMs aim to mimic living biological structural materials by achieving desired mechanical performance while maintaining important“living”*** we summarize the recent progress and provide our perspectives for this emerging research *** first summarize the superiority of structural ELMs by reviewing biological structural materials and biomimetic material design ***,we provide a systematic discussion on the definition and classifications of structural ELMs,their mechanical performance,and physiological ***,we summarize some critical challenges faced by structural ELMs and highlight directions of future *** hope this review article can provide a timely summary of the state of the art and relevant perspectives for future development of structural ELMs.
