The genus Lactarius Pers.(Russulales)is a cosmopolitan group of Basidiomycota that forms ectomycorrhizal relationships primarily with both deciduous and coniferous *** the genus has been well-studied in Europe and North America,only fragmentary researches have been carried out on Asian *** particular,the distribution of Lactarius species in South Korea is poorly understood due to insufficient morphological descriptions and a lack of DNA sequence *** addition,the misuse of European and North American names has added to confusion regarding the taxonomy of Asian Lactarius *** this study,the diversity of Lactarius in South Korea was evaluated by employing both morphological and phylogenetic approaches.A multi-locus phylogenetic analysis of 729 Lactarius specimens collected between 1960 and 2017 was performed using the internal transcribed spacer(ITS)region,partial nuclear ribosomal large subunit(nrLSU),partial second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II(rpb2),and minichromosome maintenance complex component 7(mcm7).49 Lactarius species were identified in three Lactarius subgenera:***(17 spp.),***(22 spp.),and ***(10 spp.).Among them,28 Lactarius species were identified as new to science,while just 17 were previously described Lactarius *** of the taxa remain un-named due to paucity of materials.A key to Korean Lactarius species,molecular phylogenies,a summary of diversity,and detailed description are provided.

bowel function and quality of life after minimally invasive colectomy with D3 lymphadenectomy for right-sided colon adenocarcinoma

BACKGROUND Changes in bowel function after right-sided colectomy are not well understood compared to those associated with left-sided colectomy or rectal *** particular,there are concerns about bowel function after right-sided colectomy with complete mesocolic excision,which has become popular in the *** To evaluate the functional outcomes of patients who underwent right-sided colectomy with D3 lymphadenectomy for colon *** Functional data from patients who underwent minimally invasive right-sided colectomy for colon cancer from October 2017 to September 2018 were prospectively *** outcomes were evaluated preoperatively and at 3,6,12,and 18 mo *** Prior to surgery,57 patients answered the questionnaire,and 47 responded at three months,52 at 6 mo,52 at 12 mo,and 25 at 18 mo *** scales of quality of life and bowel function improved significantly over *** persisted to a high degree throughout the period without a significant change over *** use of medications for defecation was about 10%over the entire ***(P=0.023)and fecal frequency(Pbowel dysfunction group(P=0.028)was more common among patients taking *** six months,resected bowel and colon lengths were significantly different as a risk factor between the dysfunction group and the no dysfunction group[odd ratio(OR):1.095,P=0.026;OR:1.147,P=0.031,respectively]in univariate analysis,but not in multivariate *** Despite D3 lymphadenectomy,most bowel symptoms improved over time after right-sided colectomy using a minimally invasive approach,and continuous medication was needed in only approximately 10%of patients.

AIM： To demonstrate bone marrow stromal cells （BMSCs） can be used as an attractive target for genetic modification in the treatment of malignant diseases. METHODS： Using a hamster model of biliary cancer, we investigated the therapeutic effects of interleukin-2 （IL-2） gene-modified BHSCs. Syrian golden hamsters were injected via the femoral vein with 5×10^5 cells of the KIGB-5 biliary cancer cell line （n=20）. One week later, the hamsters were injected intraperitoneally with BMSCs containing Ad/hIL-2 and Ad/△E1, unmodified BHSCs, or RPHI only （control） and observed for 12 wk （n=5/each group）. RESULTS： All hamsters treated with BMSCs containing Ad/hIL-2 survived with no evidence of the disease during this period. In contrast, hamsters in the other three groups showed disseminated metastases involving the lungs as eady as 4 wk.CONCLUSION： Ad/IL-2 therapy is effective in the treatment of biliary cancer.

Clinical outcomes of self-expandable metal stents in palliation of malignant anastomotic strictures caused by recurrent gastric cancer

AIM： To examine the technical feasibility and clinical outcomes of the endoscopic insertion of a selfexpandable metal stent （SEMS） for the palliation of a malignant anastomotic stricture caused by recurrent gastric cancer. METHODS： The medical records of patients, who had obstructive symptoms caused by a malignant anastomotic stricture after gastric surgery and underwent endoscopic insertion of a SEMS from January 2001 to December 2007 at Kangnam St Mary＇s Hospital, were reviewed retrospectively. RESULTS： Twenty patients （15 male, mean age 63 years） were included. The operations were a total gastrectomy with esophagojejunostomy （n = 12）, subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth-Ⅰ reconstruction （n = 2） and subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth- Ⅱ reconstruction （n = 8）. The technical and clinical success rates were 100% and 70%, respectively. A small bowel or colon stricture was the reason for a lack of improvement in symptoms in 4 patients. Two of these patients showed improvement in symptoms after another stent was placed. Stent reobstruction caused by tumor ingrowth or overgrowth occurred in 3 patients （15%） within 1 mo after stenting. Stent migration occurred with a covered stent in 3 patients who underwent a subtotal gastrectomy with Billroth-Ⅱ reconstruction. Two cases of partial stent migration were easily treated with a second stent or stent repositioning. The median stent patency was 56 d （range, 5-439 d）. The median survival was 83 d （range, 12-439 d）. CONCLUSION： Endoscopic insertion of a SEMS provides safe and effective palliation of a recurrent anastomotic stricture caused by gastric cancer, A meticulous evaluation of the presence of other strictures before inserting the stent is essential for symptom improvement.

A Simple Method for Grain Refinement of Pure Aluminium

In order to produce the fully equiaxed and fine grained pure Al, a simple casting process that used cooling slope was examined and compared with conventional casting process under same casting conditions. By using cooling slope, grains over the whole section of castings were suddenly refined and ability of grain refinement kept up at very high mold temperature up to 550癈 in examined casting conditions.

Effects of honing treatment on AIP-TiN and TiAlN coated end-mill for high speed machining

The objective of this work is to compare the tool performance of TiN and TiA1N coated carbides end-mills deposited by an arc ion plating （ALP） method, using honing treatment to polish the cutting edge surface sleekly. The curve of surface roughness versus honing time showed a rapid improvement initially and thereafter became steady, manifesting a saturation effect. The optimal honing time related to surface roughness was determined to be approximately 20 s. As the surface roughness increased, the critical loads reduced. At an average surface roughness （Ra） of 0.028 p.m, the highest critical loads of TiN and TiAlN coating layers were 98 and 114 N, respectively. Tool performances of uncoated and coated tools were conducted under high speed machining （HSM） of AISI D2 cold-worked die steel （62 HRC）. Consequently, the TiAlN coated end-mill using honing treatment showed excellent tool life under HSM conditions.

Diagnostic value of maximal-outer-diameter and maximal-mural-thickness in use of ultrasound for acute appendicitis in children

MM： To evaluate the maximal-outer-diameter （MOD） and the maximal-mural-thickness （MMT） of the appendix in children with acute appendicitis and to determine their optimal cut-off values to diagnose acute appendicitis.METHODS： In total, 164 appendixes from 160 children between 1 and 17 years old （84 males, 76 females; mean age, 7.38 years） were examined by high-resolution abdominal ultrasound for acute abdominal pain and the suspicion of acute appendicitis. We measured the MOD and the MMT at the thickest point of the appendix. Patients were categorized into two groups according to their medical records： patients who had surgery （surgical appendix group） and patients who did not have surgery （non-surgical appendix group）. Data were analyzed by MedCalc v.9.3. The rank sum test （Mann-Whitney test） was used to evaluate the difference in the MOD and the MMT between the two groups. ROC curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off value of the MOD and the MMT on diagnosis of acute appendicitis.RESULTS： There were 121 appendixes （73.8%） in the non-surgical appendix group and 43 appendixes （26.2%） in the surgical appendix group. The median MOD differed significantly between the two groups （0.37 cm vs 0.76 cm, P〈 0.0001）, and the median MMT also differed （0.15 cm vs 0.33 cm, P 〈 0.0001）. The optimal cut-off value of the MOD and the MMT for diagnosis of acute appendicitis in children was 〉 0.57 cm （sensitivity 95.4%, specificity 93.4%） and 〉 0.22 cm （sensitivity 90.7%, specificity 79.3%）, respectively.CONCLUSION： The MOD and the MMT are reliable criteria to diagnose acute appendicitis in children. An MOD 〉 0.57 cm and an MMT 〉 0.22 cm are the optimal criteria.

Endoscopic fibrin glue injection for closure of pancreatocutaneous fistula following transgastric endoscopic necrosectomy

Transgastric endoscopic necrosectomy has been recently introduced as the effective and alternative management of infected pancreatic necrosis and pancreatic abscess. However,up to 40% of patients who undergo endoscopic necrosectomy may need an additional percutaneous approach for subsequent peripancreatic fluid collection or non-resolution of pancreatic necrosis. This percutaneous approach may lead to persistent pancreatocutaneous fistula,which remains a serious problem and usually requires prolonged hospitalization,or even open-abdominal surgery. We describe the first case of pancreatocutaneous fistula and concomitant abdominal wall defect following transgastric endoscopic necrosectomy and percutaneous drainage,which were endoscopically closed with fibrin glue injection via the necrotic cavity.

Human periodontal ligament stem cells repair mental nerve injury

Human periodontal ligament stem cells are easily accessible and can differentiate into Schwann cells. We hypothesized that human periodontal ligament stem cells can be used as an alternative source for the autologous Schwann cells in promoting the regeneration of injured peripheral nerve. To validate this hypothesis, human periodontal ligament stem cells （1 × 106） were injected into the crush-injured left mental nerve in rats. Simultaneously, autologous Schwann cells （1 × 106） and PBS were also injected as controls. Real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction showed that at 5 days after injection, mRNA expression of low affinity nerve growth factor receptor was sig-nificantaly increased in the left trigeminal ganglion of rats with mental nerve injury. Sensory tests, histomorphometric evaluation and retrograde labeling demonstrated that at 2 and 4 weeks after in-jection, sensory function was significantly improved, the numbers of retrograde labeled sensory neurons and myelinated axons were significantly increased, and human periodontal ligament stem cells and autologous Schwann cells exhibited similar therapeutic effects. These findings suggest that transplantation of human periodontal ligament stem cells show a potential value in repair of mental nerve injury.

Process of establishing design requirements and selecting alternative configurations for conceptual design of a VLA

In this study,a process for establishing design requirements and selecting alternative configurations for the conceptual phase of aircraft design has been *** proposed process uses system-engineering-based requirement-analysis techniques such as objective tree,analytic hierarchy process,and quality function deployment to establish logical and quantitative ***,in order to perform a logical selection of alternative aircraft configurations,it uses advanced decision-making methods such as morphological matrix and technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal *** addition,a preliminary sizing tool has been developed to check the feasibility of the established performance requirements and to evaluate the flight performance of the selected *** present process has been applied for a two-seater very light aircraft（VLA）,resulting in a set of tentative design requirements and two families of VLA configurations：a high-wing configuration and a low-wing *** resulting set of design requirements consists of three categories：customer requirements,certification requirements,and performance *** performance requirements include two mission requirements for the flight range and the endurance by reflecting the customer *** flight performances of the two configuration families were evaluated using the sizing tool developed and the low-wing configuration with conventional tails was selected as the best baseline configuration for the VLA.
