extrusion-based additive manufacturing of Mg-Zn alloy scaffolds

Porous biodegradable Mg and its alloys are considered to have a great potential to serve as ideal bone *** recent progress in additive manufacturing(AM) has prompted its application to fabricate Mg scaffolds with geometrically ordered porous *** AM,followed by debinding and sintering,has been recently demonstrated as a powerful approach to fabricating such Mg scaffolds,which can avoid some crucial problems encountered when applying powder bed fusion AM ***,such pure Mg scaffolds exhibit a too high rate of in vitro *** the present research,alloying through a pre-alloyed Mg-Zn powder was ultilized to enhance the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of AM geometrically ordered Mg-Zn scaffolds *** in vitro biodegradation behavior,mechanical properties,and electrochemical response of the fabricated Mg-Zn scaffolds were ***,the response of preosteoblasts to these scaffolds was systematically evaluated and compared with their response to pure Mg *** Mg-Zn scaffolds with a porosity of 50.3% and strut density of 93.1% were composed of the Mg matrix and MgZn2second phase *** in vitro biodegradation rate of the Mg-Zn scaffolds decreased by 81% at day 1,as compared to pure Mg *** 28 days of static immersion in modified simulated body fluid,the corrosion rate of the Mg-Zn scaffolds decreased from 2.3± 0.9 mm/y to 0.7±0.1 mm/*** yield strength and Young’s modulus of the Mg-Zn scaffolds were about 3 times as high as those of pure Mg scaffolds and remained within the range of those of trabecular bone throughout the biodegradation *** culture of MC3T3-e1 preosteoblasts in Mg-Zn extracts indicated favorable *** direct cell culture,some cells could spread and form filopodia on the surface of the Mg-Zn ***,this study demonstrates the great potential of the extrusion-based AM Mg-Zn scaffolds to be further develo

In recent years,bone tissue engineering has emerged as a promising solution to the limitations of current gold standard treatment options for bone related-disorders such as bone *** tissue engineering provides a scaffold design that mimics the extracellular matrix,providing an architecture that guides the natural bone regeneration *** this period,a new generation of bone tissue engineering scaffolds has been designed and characterized that explores the incorporation of signaling molecules in order to enhance cell recruitment and ingress into the scaffold,as well as osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis,each of which is crucial to successful bone ***,we outline and critically analyze key characteristics of successful bone tissue engineering *** also explore candidate materials used to fabricate these *** growth factors involved in the highly coordinated process of bone repair are discussed,and the key requirements of a growth factor delivery system are ***,we concentrate on an analysis of scaffold-based growth factor delivery strategies found in the recent *** particular,the incorporation of two-phase systems consisting of growth factor-loaded nanoparticles embedded into scaffolds shows great promise,both by providing sustained release over a therapeutically relevant timeframe and the potential to sequentially deliver multiple growth factors.

li-ion battery is one of the key players in energy storage technology empowering electrified and clean transportation ***,it is still associated with high costs due to the expensive material as well as high fluctuations of the manufacturing *** production processes involving mechanical,chemical,and electrical operations makes the predictability of the manufacturing process a challenge,hence the process is optimised through trial and error rather systematic *** establish an in-depth understanding of the interconnected processes and manufacturing parameters,this paper combines data-mining techniques and real production to offer a method for the systematic analysis,understanding and improving the li-ion battery electrode manufacturing *** novelty of this research is that unlike most of the existing research that are focused on cathode manufacturing only,it covers both of the cathode and anode case ***,it is based on real manufacturing data,proposes a systematic design of experiment method for generating high quality and representative data,and leverages the artificial intelligence techniques to identify the dependencies in between the manufacturing parameters and the key quality factors of the *** this study,machine learning models are developed to quantify the predictability of electrode and cell properties given the coating process control ***,the manufacturing parameters are ranked and their contribution to the electrode and cell characteristics are quantified by *** systematic data acquisition approach as well as the quantified interdependencies are expected to assist the manufacturer when moving towards an improved battery production chain.

Nowadays,force sensors play an important role in industrial production,electronic information,medical health,and many other ***-dimensional material-based filed effect transistor(2D-FeT)sensors are competitive with nano-level size,lower power consumption,and accurate ***,few of them has the capability of impulse detection which is a path function,expressing the cumulative effect of the force on the particle over a period of *** we fabricated the flexible polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)gate dielectric MoS_(2)-FeT for force and impulse sensor *** systematically investigated the responses of the sensor to constant force and varying forces,and achieved the conversion factors of the drain current signals(I_(ds))to the detected impulse(I).The applied force was detected and recorded by I_(ds)with a low power consumption of~30 *** sensitivity of the device can reach~8000%and the 4×1 sensor array is able to detect and locate the normal force applied on ***,there was almost no performance loss for the device as left in the air for two months.

Viscosity and structure relationship with equimolar substitution of CaO with MgO in the CaO–MgO–Al_(2)O_(3)–SiO_(2)slag melts

Currently,the Al_(2)O_(3)content in the high-alumina slag systems within blast furnaces is generally limited to 16wt%–18.5wt%,making it challenging to overcome this *** most studies that concentrated on managing the MgO/Al_(2)O_(3)ratio or basicity,this paper explored the effect of equimolar substitution of MgO for CaO on the viscosity and structure of a high-alumina CaO-MgO-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)slag system,providing theoretical guidance and data to facilitate the application of high-alumina *** results revealed that the viscosity first decreased and then increased with higher MgO substitution,reaching a minimum at 15mol%MgO *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)results found that the depths of the troughs representing[SiO_(4)]tetrahedra,[AlO_(4)]tetrahedra,and Si-O-Al bending became progressively deeper with increased MgO *** of the Raman spectra showed that the average number of bridging oxygens per Si atom and the X_(Q^(3))/X_(Q^(2))(X_(Q^(i))is the molar fraction of Q^(i) unit,and i is the number of bridging oxygens in a[SiO_(4)]tetrahedral unit)ratio increased from 2.30 and 1.02 to 2.52 and 2.14,respectively,indicating a progressive polymerization of the silicate structure.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results highlighted that non-bridging oxygen content decreased from 77.97mol% to 63.41mol% with increasing MgO concentration,whereas bridging oxygen and free oxygen contents *** analysis demonstrated a gradual increase in the polymerization degree of the tetrahedral structure with the increase in MgO ***,bond strength is another important factor affecting the slag *** occurrence of a viscosity minimum can be attributed to the complex evolution of bond strengths of non-bridging oxygens generated during depolymerization of the[SiO_(4)]and[AlO_(4)]tetrahedral structures by CaO and MgO.

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor alterations and cognitive decline in schizophrenia:Implications for early intervention

This manuscript explores the recent study by Cui et al which assessed the interplay between inflammatory cytokines and brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)levels in first-episode schizophrenia *** study revealed that higher levels of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-αcorrelated with reduced BDNF levels and poorer cognitive *** is a severe psy-chiatric disorder impacting approximately 1%of the global population,charac-terized by positive symptoms(hallucinations and delusions),negative symptoms(diminished motivation and cognitive impairments)and disorganized thoughts and *** research highlights the role of BDNF as a potential biomarker for early diagnosis and therapeutic *** findings from Cui et al’s study suggest that targeting neuroinflammation and enhancing BDNF levels may improve cognitive *** treatment approaches involve a com-bination of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions tailored to individual patient ***,monitoring cognitive and neuroinflammatory markers is essential for improving patient outcomes and quality of ***-quently,this manuscript highlights the need for an integrated approach to schizo-phrenia management,considering both clinical symptoms and underlying neuro-biological changes.
