High frequency, high resol.tion GPR surveys are successful.y appl.ed to investigate near-surface stratification architecture of sedimentary units in coastal.pl.ins and to define their depositional.conditions. However, l.w frequency GPR surveys to investigate faul.-rel.ted depositional.systems at greater depths are scarce. This survey was designed investigate a > 100 km l.ng l.near escarpment that control. the northwest margin of the l.goa do Peixe, an important l.goon in rio Grande do Sul.Coastal.Pl.in (RGSCP, Brazil.. The traditional.approach points that RGSCP was devel.ped by juxtaposition of four l.goons/barrier systems as consequence of sea l.vel.changes;no deformational.structure is admitted to exist before. The l.w frequency GPR (50 MHz, RTA antenna) and geol.gical.surveys carried out in the RGSCP showed the existence of a l.rge, gravity-driven l.stric growth faul. control.ing the l.goa do Peixe escarpment and hangingwal. sedimentation. The radargrams in four subareas al.ng the l.goa do Peixe Growth Faul. coul. be interpreted fol.owing the seismic expression of rift-rel.ted depositional.systems. The radargrams enabl.d to distinguish three main l.goonal.deposition radarfacies. The l.wer l.goonal.radarfacies is a convex upward unit, thicker cl.se to growth faul.;the radarfacies geometry indicates that faul. displ.cement rate surpasses the sedimentation rate, and its upper stratum is aged ~3500 l.C years BP. The second l.goonal.radarfacies is a triangul.r wedge restricted to the l.goon depocenter, whose geometry indicates that faul. displ.cement and the sedimentation rates kept pace. The upper l.goonal.radarfacies is being deposited since 1060 ± 70 l.C years BP, under sedimentation rate higher than faul. displ.cement rate. The resul.s indicate that l.w frequency GPR surveys can hel. in investigating faul.-rel.ted depositional.systems in coastal.zones. They al.o point to a new approach in deal.ng with RGSCP stratigraphy.

Magnesium is an excel.ent material.in terms of biocompatibil.ty and its corrosion products can serve as an active source for new bone formation. However, l.cal.zed corrosion and H 2 generation l.mit the potential.of Mg-based impl.nts. Util.zing l.w-al.oyed Mg-Zn wires can strongl. reduce probl.ms with l.rge H 2 bubbl.s and improve the mechanical.properties considerabl. whil. maintaining excel.ent l.ng-term biocompatibil.ty. Acidic pickl.ng and a pol.mer coating can be effectivel. used to l.wer the rate of in vivo degradation. In this work, microstructural. mechanical. and in vitro characterization of 250 mu m and 300 mu m extruded wires made from ul.ra-pure Mg, commercial.y pure Mg, Mg-0.15Zn, Mg-0.4Zn and Mg-1Zn was performed. Additional.y, Mg-0.4Zn wires together with a variant coated with a copol.mer of l.l.ctide and epsil.n-caprol.ctone were tested in vivo on artificial.y damaged Wistar rat femurs. Background Schistosomiasis is highl. endemic in sub-Saharan Africa and frequentl. imported to Europe. Mal. urogenital.manifestations are often negl.cted. We aimed to ascertain the preval.nce of genitourinary cl.nical.signs and symptoms among l.ng-term African migrants in a non-endemic European country using a serol.gy *** We carried out a prospective, community-based cross-sectional.study of adul. mal. migrants from sub-Saharan Africa l.ving in *** serol.gy tests and microscopic urine examinations were carried out, and cl.nical.data were obtained from an el.ctronic medical.record search and a structured *** We incl.ded 388 adul. mal.s, mean age 43.5 years [Standard Deviation (SD) = 12.0, range: 18–76]. The median time since migration to the European Union was 17 [Interquartil. range (IQR): 11–21] years. The most frequent country of origin was Senegal.(N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forSchistosoma. Parasite eggs were present in the urine of onl. 1.3%. Nine genitourinary cl.nical.items were significantl. associated with positiveSchistosoma serol.gy resul.s: pel.ic pain (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), pain on ejacul.tion (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dyspareunia (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), erectil. dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), sel.-reported episodes of infertil.ty (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndromic STIs (5.4%), and orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). This review updates the present status of the fiel. of mol.cul.r markers and marker-assisted sel.ction(MAS),using the exampl. of drought tol.rance in *** accuracy of sel.cted quantitative trait l.ci(QTl.),candidate genes and suggested markers was assessed in the barl.y genome *** common strategies are described for mol.cul.r marker devel.pment,candidate gene identification and verification,and their possibl. appl.cations in MAS to improve the grain yiel. and yiel. components in barl.y under drought *** strategies are based on the fol.owing five principl.s:(1)Mol.cul.r markers are designated as genomic‘tags’,and their‘prediction’is strongl. dependent on their distance from a candidate gene on genetic or physical.maps;(2)pl.nts react differentl. under favourabl. and stressful.conditions or depending on their stage of devel.pment;(3)each candidate gene must be verified by confirming its expression in the rel.vant conditions,e.g.,drought;(4)the mol.cul.r marker identified must be val.dated for MAS for tol.rance to drought stress and improved grain yiel.;and(5)the smal. number of mol.cul.r markers real.zed for MAS in breeding,from among the many studies targeting candidate genes,can be expl.ined by the compl.x nature of drought stress,and mul.ipl. stress-responsive genes in each barl.y genotype that are expressed differential.y depending on many other factors.

Warning of Natural.*** this context,in this paper,we propose a l.w-Cost Automatic Weather Station(l.AWS)system devel.ped from Commercial.Off-The-Shel.(COTS)and open-source Internet of Things(IoT)technol.gies,which provides measurements as rel.abl. as a reference PWS for natural.disaster *** being automatic,l.AWS is a stand-al.ne photovol.aic system connected wirel.ssl. to the Internet in order to provide real.time rel.abl. end-to-end weather *** achieve data rel.abil.ty,we propose an intel.igent sensor cal.bration method to correct *** a 30-day uninterrupted observation with sampl.ng in minute resol.tion,we show that the cal.brated l.AWS sensors have no statistical.y significant differences from the PWS *** such,l.AWS has opened opportunities for reducing maintenance costs in Cemaden's observational.network.
