Cellulose is a renewable biomass material and natural polymer which is abundantly available on Earth,and includes agricultural wastes,forestry residues,and woody *** excellent and smart characteristics of cellulose materials,such as lightweight,biocompatibility,biodegradability,high mechanical strength/stiffness and low thermal expansibility,have made cellulose a highpotential material for various industry *** has recently been discovered as a smart material in the electroactive polymers family which carries the name of cellulose-based electroactive paper(EAPap).The shear piezoelectricity in cellulose polymers is able to induce large displacement output,low actuation voltage,and low power consumption in the application of biomimetic sensors/actuators and electromechanical *** present study provides an overview of biomass pretreatment from various lignocellulosic cellulose(LC)resources and nanocellulose production via TEMPO-mediated oxidation reaction,followed by the production of different types of EAPap versus its performance,and lastly the applications of EAPap in different areas and ***,LC biomass consists mainly of cellulose having a small content of hemicelluloses and lignins which form a defensive inner structure against the degradation of plant cell ***,selective approaches are discussed to ensure proper extraction of cellulosic fibers from complex biomass for further minimization to *** addition,a comprehensive review of the development of cellulose-based EAPap as well as fabrication,characterization,performance enhancement and applications of EAPap devices are discussed herein.

Correlation between Serum Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin and Burn Severity: A Pilot Study

The severity of an initial burn injury is critical for determining the treatment plan and prognosis of burn patients. Here, we measured serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels to determine whether NGAL can be used as a biomarker for severity of burn injuries. A study of the demographic, clinical, and laboratory markers for various organ damage was performed at Bestian Burn Center (n = 10 healthy people, n = 31 patients). NGAL and organ damage marker levels were measured in 31 patients with severe burns within 2 - 3 days following their admission to the intensive care unit. Serum NGAL level of the expired patients was 788.5 (685.0 - 998.0) pg/mL, whereas that of the discharged patients was 421.2 (356.2 - 480.6) pg/mL, showing that the initial serum NGAL level can be used to estimate mortality. We also determined the correlation between serum NGAL level and the currently used severity markers (total body surface area burned and abbreviated burn severity index) and confirmed that serum NGAL level could be used as a severity marker. We also found that serum NGAL level was correlated with damage of organs such as the liver, kidney, heart, and respiratory organs in patients with severe burns.

Effect of heat treatment on LPSO morphology and mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Y-Gd alloys

The mechanical properties and microstructure were investigated under different Zn content and heat treatment conditions in a Mg-Zn-YGd cast alloy.A part of the long period stacking order(LPSO)phases transformed to W-M^ZnaRE?phases with an increase in Zn content from 0.9 at.%to 1.8 at.%,and the ultimate tensile strength(UTS)increased from 229 MPa to 248 *** solution treatment at 480°C,the content of the LPSO phase and strength sharply decreased in the Mg-1.8Zn-0.8Y-0.8Gd alloy,whereas this change was not significantly observed in the Mg-0.9Zn-O.8Y-O.8Gd *** solution treatment,the elongation significantly improved and the UTS sharply decreased in both *** lamellar and filminess LPSO phases were observed with aging treatment at 200℃.Moreover,the strengthening efficiency of lamellar and filminess LPSO phases was lower than that of the block LPSO ***,the UTS of the T6 state was lower than that of the as-cast alloy.

采用高压电点火进行直接起爆,通过放电过程中电流的输出信号确定起爆能量,实验测定了C2H2-2.5O2气体和加入摩尔浓度为70%氩气的C2H2-2.5O2混合气体直接起爆的临界起爆能量,研究了高浓度氩气稀释对C2H2-2.5O2混合物临界起爆能量的影响。实验测得的混合物临界起爆能量实验值与lee等人的表面积能量理论值基本吻合。研究表明:C2H2-2.5O2气体和加入摩尔浓度为70%氩气的C2H2-2.5O2混合气体的临界起爆能量均依赖于初始压力,并呈反相关指数关系;在相同实验条件下,高浓度氩气稀释极大提高了混合气体直接起爆的临界起爆能量。分析认为,由于临界起爆能量正比于诱导区长度的3次方,因此在相同初始压力下,高浓度氩气的稀释增加了C2H2-2.5O2混合气体爆轰诱导区长度,并最终导致其临界起爆能量的显著上升。

On-demand design of spectrally sensitive multiband absorbers using an artificial neural network

We report an approach assisted by deep learning to design spectrally sensitive multiband absorbers that work in the visible *** propose a five-layered metal-insulator-metal grating structure composed of aluminum and silicon dioxide,and we design its structural parameters by using an artificial neural network(ANN).For a spectrally sensitive design,spectral information of resonant wavelengths is additionally provided as input as well as the reflection *** ANN facilitates highly robust design of a grating structure that has an average mean squared error(MSE)of *** optical properties of the designed structures are validated using electromagnetic simulations and *** of design results for gradually changing target wavelengths of input shows that the trained ANN can learn physical knowledge from *** also propose a method to reduce the size of the ANN by exploiting observations of the trained ANN for practical *** design method can also be applied to design various nanophotonic structures that are particularly sensitive to resonant wavelengths,such as spectroscopic detection and multi-color applications.

Changes of the gastric endocrine cells in the C57BL/6 mouse after implantation of murine lung carcinoma: An immunohistochemical quantitative study

AIM: The regional distributions and relative frequencies of some gastric endocrine cells of C57BL/6 mice were studied by immunohistochemical method using seven types of specific antisera against chromogranin A (CGA), serotonin, somatostatin, gastrin, cholecystokinin (CCK)-8, glucagon and human pancreatic polypeptide (HPP) after subcutaneous implantation of murine lung carcinoma (3LL) cells. METHODS: The experimental animals were divided into two groups, one is non-implanted sham and the other is 3LL-implanted group. Samples were collected from the two regions of stomach (fundus and pylorus) at 28 d after implantation of 3LL cells (1x105 cell/mouse). RESULTS: In this study, all the seven types of immunoreactive (IR) cells were identified except for HPP. Most of these IR cells in the gastric portion were generally spherical or spindle in shape (open-type cell) while cells showing round in shape (closed-type cell) were found occasionally. The regional distributions of gastric endocrine cells in the 3LL-implanted group were similar to those of non-implanted sham. However, significant decreases of some types of IR cells were detected in 3LL-implanted group compared to those of non-implanted sham. In addition, the IR cells showing degranulation were numerously detected in 3LL-implanted group. CGA-, serotonin- and somatostatin-IR cells in the fundus and pylorus regions, and gastrin-IR cells in the pylorus regions of 3LL-implanted groups significantly decreased compared to those of non-implanted sham. However, no changes on frequencies of CCK-8- and glucagon-IR cells were demonstrated between 3LL-implanted and non-implanted groups. CONCLUSION: Endocrine cells are the anatomical units responsible for the production of gut hormones, and the change in their density would reflect a change in the capacity of producing these hormones. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether a near-infrared fluorescence(NIRF)probe,Cy5.5-d-glucosamine(Cy5.5-2DG),can image arthritis in collagen-induced arthritic(CIA)*** presence of arthritis was verified by both visual examination and micro-computed tomography(MicroCT)*** mice were imaged by a micro-positron emission tomography(MicroPET)scanner one hour after intravenous injection of 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose([18F]FDG).After radioactivity of[18F]FDG decayed away,Cy5.5-2DG was injected into a lateral tail vein of the *** tissue targeting and retention of Cy5.5-2DG in CIA mice were evaluated and quantified by an optical imaging *** tissue in CIA mice was clearly visualized by[18F]FDG-MicroPET *** imaging of Cy5.5-2DG in the same mice revealed that the pattern of localization of Cy5.5-2DG in the arthritic tissue was very similar to that of[18F]*** analysis further showed that[18F]FDG uptake in arthritic tissues at one hour post-injection(p.i.)and Cy5.5-2DG uptakes at different time points *** all well correlated(r2 over 0.65).In conclusion,Cy5.5-DG can detect arthritic tissues in living *** good correlation between the[18F]FDG uptake and Cy5.5-2DG accumulation in the same arthritic tissue warrants further investigation of Cy5.5-2DG as an approach for assessment of anti-inflammatory treatments.

Safety assessment of condensed phosphate intake from fishery and processed marine food products in Korea with respect to gender,age,and region

Condensed phosphates are used as food additives,especially in marine products and meat,to improve food *** import and consumption of fishery and processed marine food products in Republic of Korea have reportedly increased by~5 per cent ***,processed marine food products are often intentionally adulterated with excessive amounts of condensed phosphates to increase their *** intake of condensed phosphates via consuming processed marine food products can lead to various adverse effects on human health due to anionic ***,we conducted a safety assessment of condensed phosphates in 14 types of fishery and processed marine food products in Korea for the first *** analysis of various factors including gender,age,and region was also performed,and the risk level of exposure for each group was *** assessments by age and gender indicated that infants were at the highest *** the regional safety assessment,Chungnam,the most inland region,showed the lowest *** both the general and the high-intake groups(95th percentile)in all classifications,the risk was lower(<20 per cent)than the international standard,and the phosphorus content of the 14 types of processed marine products in Korea was confirmed to be safe for human consumption.

A Study on the Dynamic Behavior of Wheel-Type Train Propelled by Superconducting Linear Synchronous Motor

This paper deals with a study on the dynamic behavior of 600 km/h wheel-type train propelled by superconducting linear synchronous motor (LSM). This train is of a traditional wheel-on-rail type with traction motors on wheel-bogies. However, for the 600 km/h speed, on the both sides of each vehicle, superconducting LSMs are attached and the ground coils are installed on the guideway. In this case, the guideway irregularities act as disturbance to the vehicle causing deterioration of ride comfort. And besides thrust force, the normal force could be created in superconducting LSM control, which influences vehicle dynamics during running. In this study, to examine the effect of guideway irregularity and normal force on dynamic behavior of proposed train, the vehicle dynamic model is driven and frequency analysis is performed through simulation. The simulation results show that the lateral directional acceleration is mainly influential to ride comfort;however this could be reduced effectively by electromagnetic damping force from linear generator. It is also shown that the normal force effect from superconducting LSM control is limited even though the attractive normal force acts favorably to ride comfort.
