Effects of contact/collision sport history on gait in early-to mid-adulthood

Background:To determine the effect of contact/collision sport participation on measures of single-task(ST)and dual-task(DT)gait among early-to middle-aged ***:The study recruited 113 adults(34.88±11.80 years,(mean±SD);53.0%female)representing 4 *** included(a)former non-contact/collision athletes and non-athletes who are not physically active(n=28);(b)former non-contact/collision athletes who are physically active(n=29);(c)former contact/collision sport athletes who participated in high-risk sports and are physically active(n=29);and(d)former rugby players with prolonged repetitive head impact exposure history who are physically active(n=27).Gait parameters were collected using inertial measurement units during ST and DT *** cost was calculated for all gait parameters(double support,gait speed,and stride length).Groups were compared first using one-way analysis of *** a multiple regression was performed for participants in the highrisk sport athletes and repetitive head impact exposure athletes groups only to predict gait outcomes from contact/collision sport career ***:There were no significant differences between groups on any ST,DT,or DT cost outcomes(p>0.05).Contact/collision sport duration did not predict any ST,DT,or DT cost gait ***:Years and history of contact/collision sport participation does not appear to negatively affect or predict neurobehavioral function in early-to mid-adulthood among physically active individuals.

AIM:To evaluate aspects of cognition impacted by individuals with and without normal tension ***:Fifty normal tension glaucoma(nTG)and 50 control patients≥50 y of age were recruited from the UCSF Department of *** data and glaucoma parameters were extracted from electronic medical records for both *** of executive function[Executive Abilities:Measures and Instruments for neurobehavioral Evaluation and Research(EXAMInER)]and learning and memory[California Verbal Learning Test–Second Edition(CVLT-II)]were administered to both nTG and ***,handedness,best-corrected visual acuity,maximum intraocular pressure,optic nerve cup-todisc ratio,visual field and optic nerve optical coherence tomography parameters,and a measure of general health(Charlson Comorbidity Index)were compared between nTG and controls as well as within nTG *** linear regression was used to compare group performances on the EXAMInER battery and CVLT-II while controlling for age,sex,and years of ***:nTG and controls were comparable with respect to age,sex,race,education,handedness,and the Charlson Comorbidity Index(P>0.05 for all).Performance on the EXAMInER composite score and the CVLT-II did not differ between nTG and controls(P>0.05 for both).COnCLUSIOn:This is the first prospective study in which the cognitive function of subject with nTG were evaluated using a comprehensive,computerized neurocognitive *** with nTG do not perform worse than unaffected controls on tests of executive function,learning,and memor *** do not suppor t the hypothesis that individuals with nTG are at higher risk for cognitive dysfunction and/or dementia.

Consensus molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer in clinical practice:A translational approach

The identification of several genetic mutations in colorectal cancer(CRC)has allowed a better comprehension of the prognosis and response to different antineoplastic ***,through a systematic process,consensus molecular subtypes(CMS)have been described to characterize genetic and molecular mutations in CRC *** CMS,CRC patients can be categorized into four molecular subtypes of CRC by wide transcriptional genome ***1 has microsatellite instability and mutations in CIMP and BRAF ***2,distinguished by mutations in specific pathways linked to cellular metabolism,also has a better ***3 has a KRAS mutation as a ***4 presents mutations in fibrogenesis pathways and mesenchymalepithelial transition,associated with a worse *** classification can be a meaningful step in providing possible answers to important issues in CRC,such as the use of adjuvant chemotherapy in stage II,personalized first-line chemotherapy for metastasic CRC,and possible new target treatments that address specific pathways in each molecular *** CMS is a crucial step in personalized medicine,although prospective clinical trials selecting patients by CMS are required to pass proof-of-concept before becoming a routine clinical tool in oncology routine care.

Understanding mosquito interaction with long-lasting insecticidal bednets is crucial in the development of more effective intervention methods to protect humans from malaria *** such,a 240×240×1000 mm laboratory setup for the in-line recording of digital holograms and subsequent in-focus reconstruction and 3D localisation of mosquitoes is *** bednet background removal methods are used to accurately localise a mosquito obscured by a bednet in 3D *** and physical data demonstrate that this method is suitable for mosquitoes positioned 3−1000 mm behind a bednet.A novel post-processing technique,involving a cascade-correlation of a Tamura of Intensity focus metric extracted from digitally reconstructed scenes,accurately localises mosquitoes positioned 35−100 mm behind a bednet from a single digital *** result of this study is a scalable digital holographic methodology to examine mosquito-bednet interaction in 3D at a level of accuracy previously only seen in 2D imaging of mosquitoes in a much smaller volume.
