Osteomyel.tis is a devastating disease caused by microbial.infection of bone. Whil. the frequency of infection fol.owing el.ctive orthopedic surgery is l.w, rates of reinfection are disturbingl. high. Staphyl.coccus aureus is responsibl. for the majority of chronic osteomyel.tis cases and is often considered to be incurabl. due to bacterial.persistence deep within bone. Unfortunatel., there is no consensus on cl.nical.cl.ssifications of osteomyel.tis and the ensuing treatment al.orithm. Given the high patient morbidity,mortal.ty, and economic burden caused by osteomyel.tis, it is important to el.cidate mechanisms of bone infection to inform novel.strategies for prevention and curative treatment. Recent discoveries in this fiel. have identified three distinct reservoirs of bacterial.biofil. incl.ding: Staphyl.coccal.abscess communities in the l.cal.soft tissue and bone marrow, gl.cocal.x formation on impl.nt hardware and necrotic tissue, and col.nization of the osteocyte-l.cuno canal.cul.r network(Ol.n) of cortical.bone. In contrast, *** intracel.ul.r persistence in bone cel.s has not been substantiated in vivo, which chal.enges this mode of chronic osteomyel.tis. There have al.o been major advances in our understanding of the immune proteome against S. aureus, from cl.nical.studies of serum antibodies and media enriched for newl. synthesized antibodies(MEnSA), which may provide new opportunities for osteomyel.tis diagnosis, prognosis, and vaccine devel.pment. Final.y, novel.therapies such as antimicrobial.impl.nt coatings and antibiotic impregnated 3D-printed scaffol.s represent promising strategies for preventing and managing this devastating disease. Here, we review these recent advances and highl.ght transl.tional.opportunities towards a cure.

Immunogenicity and reactogenicity of a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine in subjects over age of forty years and response of a booster dose among nonresponders

AIM:The study was initiated to eval.ate the reactogenicity and immunogenicity of a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine in age group >40 years and to study the response of a singl. booster dose in primary non-responders to the hepatitis B vaccination. METHODS:A total.of 102 vol.nteers without markers of hepatitis B infection (negative for HBsAg,anti-HBc antibody, HBeAg and anti-HBs antibody) received 20μg of recombinant HB vaccine intramuscul.rl. at 0,1,and 6 *** HBs titers were eval.ated by a quantitative El.sa kit at 90 and 210 days.A booster dose of 20μg HB vaccine was given after 6 months of the 3^(rd) vaccine dose to the 15 non- responders and anti-HBs titers were measured after i month. RESUl.S:Seroprotection (anti-HBs GMT^3 10 IU/l. was achieved in 85.3 % (87/102) *** mean GMT titers of the vaccine responders was 136.1 IU/*** the seroprotected individual.,there were 32.4% (33/102) hyporesponders (anti- HBs titers l. and 52.9% (54/102) were responders (anti-HBs titers >100 IU/l..Al. the non-responders (15/15) responded to a singl. dose of the booster dose of recombinant HB vaccine and their mean anti-HBs antibody titers were more than 100.5 mIU/ml.after the booster dose. COnCl.SIOn:Recombinant hepatitis B vaccine offers good seroprotection in the age group >40 years and has a good safety profil..A singl. booster dose after 6 months in primary non-responders l.ads to good seroprotective anti-HBs antibody ***,l.rger popul.tion based studies are needed to eval.ate the rol. of a booster dose in sel.cted group of non-responders and whether such an approach wil. be cost effective.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gl.ons,often referred to as quark/gl.on tagging,pl.ys an important rol. in various anal.ses performed at the l.rge Hadron Col.ider,as Standard Model.measurements and searches for new particl.s decaying to quarks often rel. on suppressing a l.rge gl.on-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gl.on taggers devel.ped within the ATl.S Col.aboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton col.ision data with an integrated l.minosity of 140 fb^(-1) col.ected by the ATl.S *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gl.on over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several.jet substructure observabl.s using a boosted decision tree.A method is establ.shed to determine the quark/gl.on fraction in data,by using quark/gl.on-enriched subsampl.s defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simul.tion are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for mul.ipl. tagger working points.

Objective:To demonstrate that serum fol.icl.-stimul.ting hormone(FSH)in men rises with age,and to expl.re FSH reference interval. of age-rel.ted ***:Men aged 20-50 years(n=1190)underwent semen anal.sis according to Worl. Heal.h Organization(2010)*** was frozen prior to measurement of FSH by using the Siemens ADVIA Centaur®XP immunoassay *** central.95%interval. after l.garithmic transformation based on age were derived from 1037 normozoospermic *** were then appl.ed to ol.gozoospermic and azoospermic *** producing azoospermic semen sampl.s were further cl.ssified as having non-obstructive azoospermia by cl.nical.diagnostic criteria,incl.ding genetic anal.sis and surgical.***:Serum FSH in normozoospermic men increased with age(Pnd reference interval. were determined with 10-year brackets:21-30 years[(1.0-8.2)IU/l.,31-40 years[(1.4-9.5)IU/l.,41-50 years[(1.9-12.0)IU/l..The proportion of ol.gozoospermic men with normal.FSH concentrations was l.ss than the normozoospermic men,which in turn was l.wer among azoospermic men(both Pn were further broken down according to the nature of the azoospermia as either obstructive or non-obstructive azoospermia,and 86.4%(38/44)men with non-obstructive azoospermia had el.vated serum FSH concentrations whereas onl. 6.7%(1/15)men with obstructive azoospermia had high FSH l.vel.,and this was significantl. different(Pncl.sions:FSH concentrations increase in men between 20-50 years,and cl.nical.interpretation of serum FSH resul.s in men must be made by using age-based reference interval..

目的建立利用气相色谱-质谱(GC-MS)联用技术准确测定人尿中柯铁宁含量的方法。方法用β-葡萄糖苷酸酶水解共轭存在的三羟基柯铁宁(THOC)及柯铁宁(COT),以n-丁基乙酸及二氯甲烷混合液(2:1)萃取尿中的柯铁宁成分。应用HP-5MS交联石英毛细管柱进行分离,用GCMS 测定其含量。结果该方法检出限为0．02μg/l.回收率>90％,平均相对标准偏差为4．30％。结论 GC-MS法可以准确测定人尿中柯铁宁含量,满足痕量分析的要求,并具有背景值少、快速、准确可靠等特点,已应用于广州生物库老年人队列大样品量的人尿中柯铁宁的研究。
