In vivo antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity of methanolic extracts of Daucus carota seeds in experimental animals

Objective:To assess the In vivo anlioxid Fanl and hepaloproleclive activity of metlianolic exlracl of Daucus carota(***) seeds in experimental ***:Methanolic extracts of *** seeds is used for hepatoproleclion *** stress were induced in rats by thioacetamide 100 nig/kg *** four groups of rats(two test,standard and toxic control). Two test groups received *** seeds extract[DCSE) at doses of 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg. Standard group received silymarin(25 mg/kg) and toxic control received only thioacetamide. Control group received only *** the 8th day animals were sacrificed and liver enzyme like serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase(SGPT),serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase(SCOT) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)were estimated in blood serum and antioxidant enzyme like superoxide disnuituse(SOD),cululase(CAT),glutathione reductase(CKD),glutathione peroxidase(GPX),glutalhione-S-transferase(GST)and lipid peroxidation(LPO)were estimated in liver ***:A significant decrease in SGPT,SCOT and ALP levels was observed in all drug treated groups as compared to thioacetamide group(P<0.001) and in case of antioxidant enzyme a significant(P<0.001) increase in ***,GRD,GPX and GST was observed in all dmg treated groups as compared with thioacetamide *** in case of LPO a significant(P <0.001) reduction was observed as compared to toxic control ***:DCSE has contributed lo the reduction of oxidative stress and the protection of liver in experimental rals.

Palaeodiet of Miocene Producers and Depositional Environments:Inferences from the First Evidence of Microcoprolites from India

This paper reviews research on coprolites from India,providing the first evidence of microcoprolites from the early Miocene(Aquitanian)Khari Nadi Formation sedimentary succession,exposed about 1.5 km northeast of the village of Kotada,Kachchh(Kutch)District,Gujarat State,western *** and size comparisons(in a statistical framework)with known coprolites from the Mesozoic-Cenozoic successions of India(including those recorded herein)and globally suggest that fishes were the likely producers of the Kotada *** electron microscopy confirms the presence of fish dental remains within the coprolites,while both Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy(EDS)reveal the phosphatic nature of the microscopic coprolite specimens(recorded herein)hinting that the producer(s)were predominantly carnivorous(ichthyophagous)in their ***,X-Ray Fluorescence(XRF)analysis of the host and associated lithologies allows us to deduce that the Kotada coprolites were deposited in a shallow marine environment,with possible aerial exposure of the host lithology occurring at some point after *** the best of our knowledge,the present report is the first record of microscopic fish coprolites from India,as well as being the first from the Aquitanian of India and the oldest Neogene record from India.

Attenuation characteristics of monolayer graphene by Pi-and T-networks modeling of multilayer microstrip line

The impedances of Pi- and T- networks are obtained from the measured S-parameters of the multilayer microstrip line by modeling as an attenuator. The changes in impedances have been analyzed for the properties of various superstrates at the microwave ranges. With graphene on glass and graphene on quartz loadings, the impedances have increased and shifted towards lower frequency more in Pi-network than T-network modeling. This shift has become more prominent at higher frequency for the graphene on glass than graphene on quartz. A little increase in attenuation is found for graphene on glass or quartz than bare glass and quartz. The present study can be extended to obtain attenuation characteristic of any thin film by simple experimental method in the microwave frequencies.

Apply AHP for Resource Allocation Problem in Cloud

Cloud computing is an emerging paradigm with many applications that are integrated with IT organization having the freedom to migrate services between different physical servers. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with a pairwise comparison matrix technique for applications has been used for serving resources. AHP is a mathematical technique for multi-criteria decision-making used in cloud computing. The growth in cloud computing for resource allocation is sudden and raises complex issues with quality of services for selecting applications. Finally, based on the selected criteria, applications are ranked using the pairwise comparison matrix of AHP to determine the most effective scheme. The presented AHP technique represents a well-balanced multi criteria priorities synthesis of various applications effect factors that must be taken into consideration when making complex decisions of this nature. Keeping in view wide range of applications of cloud computing an attempt has been made to develop multiple criteria decision making model.

Structural and Ion Transport Studies in (100-x) PVdF + xNH4SCN Gel Electrolyte

In order to obtain highly conductive polymer gel electrolytes for electrochemical devices, Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) based gel electrolytes namely (100–x)PVdF + xNH4SCN electrolyte system has been synthesized by solution cast technique and characterized by XRD, DSC, IR, SEM and electrical measurements. IR study of gel electrolytes shows interaction of PVdF matrix and dopant salt with prominence of α-phase. This result is also well supported by XRD and DSC studies. The electrolytes are electrochemically stable within ± 1.5 V. The optimum bulk electrical conductivity for 90PVdF + 10NH4SCN electrolyte has been found to be ~ 2.5 × 10–2 S●cm–1. Dielectric relaxation behavior shows low frequency dispersion and αc-related relaxation peak is observed in loss spectra. Polarization behavior of gel electrolyte shows ionic nature of charge transport (Tion. > 0.90). The temperature dependent conductivity shows VTF behavior.

Male Breast Cancer (MBC) has a familial component thus identification of polymorphic risk alleles of candidate genes and/or cytogenetic anomalies may help to predict the risk for the offspring of MBC patients. The conventional metaphase cytogenetics can indicate loci that are hotspots while analysis by single nucleotide polymorphism arrays (SNP-A) can identify chromosomal defects which may play a role in the etiology of cancer. A cumulative genotype risk due to each allele of candidate genes of the signaling pathways regulating c-MYC, HIF1A, TP53 and BRCA1 may be a factor facilitating cancer development. Induced Accumulation of Polyphenolics and Flavonoids in Cyanobacteria under Salt Stress Protects Organisms through Enhanced Antioxidant Activity

Induced accumulation of polyphenolics and flavonoids in cyanobacterial strains grown under different salt concentrations is correlated with their growth under stress conditions and enhanced antioxidant activity. Plectonema boryanum, Hapalosiphon intricatus, Anabaena doliolum and Oscillatoria acuta grown for 21 days under different salt concentrations (80, 160, 240, 320 and 400 mM) in BG11 medium showed differential growth responses in terms of biomass, total protein, chlorophyll content, total content of polyphenol, flavonoid and carotenoid, accumulation of phenolic acids (gallic, caffeic, chlorogenic, ferullic and vanillic) and flavonoids (rutin and quercetin). Cyanobacterial extracts showed prominent free radical scavenging antioxidant activity (AOA) in terms of % DPPH discoloration. Highly significant (p < 0.05) and strong correlation was found between TPC and AOA (r = 0.974). Other positive but non-significant (p < 0.05) correlations were observed between AOA and gallic acid (r = 0.893) and AOA and caffeic acid (r = 0.931). Significant and strong correlation was also observed between gallic and caffeic acid (r = 0.973). Positive but lesser magnitude correlations were recorded between TPC and caffeic acid (r = 0.905), TPC and gallic acid (r = 0.920), gallic and vanillic acid (r = 0.916) and caffeic and vanillic acid (r = 0.814). An integrated combination of growth parameters, salt-induced accumulation of phenylpropanoids and stress-derived subsequent antioxidant property of cyanobacterial extracts is thought to provide evidence that secondary metabolic changes can act as the possible alternative mechanism to overcome stress-induced damages in cells.

Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency leading to anemia in pregnancy. Conventionally, non-heme form of iron salts has been the mainstay of treatment. However, patient compliance is an important concern with existing oral iron therapy due to gastrointestinal side effects. Heme iron, a better bioavailable and tolerable form of iron can be suitable form of iron for supplementation in pregnancy. Evidence suggests its utility in pregnancy for treatment of iron deficiency anemia with benefits extending to postpartum period. Effective transfer across placenta to fetus further supports its utility in pregnancy. This review discusses in details the absorption kinetics along with clinical evidence on efficacy, safety, and tolerability of heme-iron supplementation in iron deficiency anemia of pregnancy.

A bony foreign body found in a patient with no bony injury： a case report

Open fractures with bone loss are a common occurrence following high energy trauma. But usually the bone fragments are lost on the roadside and are not usable. We report a patient who was involved in a head-on collision between two wheelers and presented with a bone fragment embedded in his thigh. Radiological survey revealed no bony injury in that patient. Another patient, who presented at the same time, sustained a segmental fracture of shaft femur and was found to have lost a bone fragment that was similar to the one found in previous patient. CT scan with 3D reconstruction revealed this missing fragment to be the same as that found in previous patient. Both patients had a history of head-on collision while travelling on a two-wheeler. Present case report throws some highlights on the probable mechanism of injury.
