Utilizing biomaterials in tissue engineering has shown considerable promise for tissue regeneration,particularly through delivering multimodel cell-regulatory signals,including the material-related signals and extrinsic *** this research,we developed a magnetic-responsive aligned nanofiber fibrin hydrogel(MAFG),integrating the structured alignment of nanofibers and the pliability of fibrin hydrogel with an external magnetic *** design aimed to enhance the regenerative response in spinal cord injury treatment.A medium-strength magnetic field,aligned with the spinal cord,was applied to aid motor function recovery in rats with spinal cord *** use of MAFG in this context not only intensified the effect of the magnetic field but also encouraged the activation and differentiation of native neural stem ***,this method effectively steered macrophage polarization towards a beneficial M2 phenotype,addressing immune dysregulation at the injury *** parallel application of magnetic field stimulation through MAFG in a spinal cord injury model contributed to the concurrent promotion of neurogenesis,angiogenesis,and immunomodulation,resulting in marked improvement in motor function in *** investigation underscores the therapeutic potential of magnetic field stimulation and highlights how aligning this stimulation with the spinal cord can significantly enhance the regenerative milieu at the injury site.

The geochemical components of the leachate from loess-paleosol deposits can provide information about climaterelated post-depositional *** example,leachate lithium([Li]_(leachate))is a potential paleoclimate proxy because lithium is a typical lithophile element that is readily adsorbed by clay minerals during weathering and pedogenesis,and thus stratigraphic variations in[Li]leachatecan reflect these *** investigated the[Li]leachatevalues of two loess-paleosols profiles(the Luochuan and Weinan sections),on a north-south climatic gradient on the Chinese Loess *** paleoclimate information was provided by measurements of magnetic susceptibility,grain size,Rb/Sr ratios,and clay mineral *** the last glacial-interglacial period,[Li]leachateincreased from 0.39 to 1.97μg/g at Luochuan and from 0.67 to 2.45μg/g at Weinan,mainly due to increasing *** on these results we developed a conceptual model to explain the variations in[Li]leachate,Li^(+)within loess layers is mainly derived from dust input and the decomposition of primary minerals,influenced by the East Asian winter monsoon,while in paleosol layers Li is mainly derived from clay mineral adsorption during pedogenic processes,influenced by the East Asian summer monsoon.

3D bioprinting holds great promise toward fabricating biomimetic living constructs in a bottom-up assembly *** date,various emergences of living constructs have been bioprinted for in vitro applications,while the conspicuous potential serving for in vivo implantable therapies in spinal cord injury(SCI)has been relatively ***,living nerve-like fibers are prepared via extrusion-based 3D bioprinting for SCI *** living nerve-like fibers are comprised of neural stem cells(NSCs)embedded within a designed hydrogel that mimics the extracellular matrix(ECM),assembled into a highly spatial ordered architecture,similar to densely arranged bundles of the nerve *** pro-neurogenesis ability of these living nerve-like fibers is tested in a 4 mm-long complete transected SCI rat *** shows that living nerve-like fibers refine the ecological niche of the defect site by immune modulation,angiogenesis,neurogenesis,neural relay formations,and neural circuit remodeling,leading to outstanding functional reconstruction,revealing an evolution process of this living construct after *** effective strategy,based on biomimetic living constructs,opens a new perspective on SCI therapies.

The risk of mpox importation and subsequent outbreak potential in Chinese mainland: a retrospective statistical modelling study

Background The 2022-2023 mpox(monkeypox)outbreak has spread rapidly across multiple countries in the non-endemic region,mainly among men who have sex with men(MSM).In this study,we aimed to evaluate mpox's importation risk,border screening effectiveness and the risk of local outbreak in Chinese *** We estimated the risk of mpox importation in Chinese mainland from April 14 to September 11,2022 using the number of reported mpox cases during this multi-country outbreak from *** and the international air-travel data from Official Aviation *** constructed a probabilistic model to simulate the effectiveness of a border screening scenario during the mpox outbreak and a hypothetical scenario with less stringent quarantine *** we further evaluated the mpox outbreak potential given that undetected mpox infections were introduced into men who have sex with men,considering different transmissibility,population immunity and population *** We found that the reduced international air-travel volume and stringent border entry policy decreased about 94% and 69% mpox importations *** the quarantine policy,15-19% of imported infections would remain *** a case of mpox is introduced into active MSM population with almost no population immunity,the risk of triggering local transmission is estimated at 42%,and would rise to>95% with over six *** Our study demonstrates that the reduced international air-travel volume and stringent border entry policy during the COvID-19 pandemic reduced mpox importations ***,the risk could be sub-stantially higher with the recovery of air-travel volume to pre-pandemic *** could emerge as a public health threat for Chinese mainland given its large MSM community.

The recycling of graphite from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is overlooked due to its relatively low added value and the lack of efficient recovering *** reuse the spent graphite anodes,we need to eliminate their useless components(mainly the degraded solid electrolyte interphase,SEI)and reconstruct their damaged ***,a facile and efficient strategy is proposed to recycle the spent graphite on the basis of the careful investigation of the composition of the cycled graphite anodes and the rational design of the regeneration *** regenerated graphite,which is revitalized by calcination treatment and acid leaching,delivers superb rate performance and a high specific capacity of 370 mAh g^(-1)(~99% of its theoretical capacity)after 100 cycles at 0.1 C,superior to the commercial graphite *** improved electrochemical performance could be attributed to unchoked Li^(+) transport channels and enhanced charge transfer reaction due to the effective destruction of the degraded SEI and the full recovery of the damaged structure of the spent *** work clarifies that the electrochemical performance of the regenerated graphite could be deteriorated by even a trace amount of the residual“impurity”and provides a facile method for the efficient regeneration of graphite anodes.

Flat optics has been considered promising for constructions of spaceborne imaging systems with apertures in excess of 10 *** recent advances,there are long-existing challenges to perform in-phase stitching of multiple flat optical *** the segmented planar instrument has remained at the proof of ***,we achieve autonomous system-level cophasing of a 1.5-m stitching flat device,bridging the gap between the concept and engineering *** do so,we propose a flat element stitching scheme,by manipulating the point spread function,which enables our demonstration of automatically bringing seven flat segments'tip/tilt and piston errors within the *** phasing done,the 1.5-m system has become the largest phased planar instrument ever built in the world,to our *** first demonstration of phasing the large practical flat imaging system marks a significant step towards fielding a 10-m class one in space,also paving the way for ultrathin flat imaging in various remote applications.

The mid-passage gap is an inevitable structure in a vane passage due to turbine vanes being manufactured *** coolant from this gap is able to prevent hot mainstream ingression and provide cooling protection for the endwall.A novel idea of enlarging the endwall’s coverage area and reducing the endwall’s thermal load by applying the mid-passage gap with variable surface angles is carried out in this *** endwall’s aerothermal and film cooling performances under four mid-passage gap modes at three typical mass flow ratio conditions are numerically *** indicate that under the traditional mid-passage mode,the coolant flows into the mainstream with a perpendicular incidence angle and can’t stick to the ***,cooling failure occurs,and the endwall’s thermal load is badly *** film cooling level at the suction-side endwall is improved when applying the mid-passage gap of a 45surface angle due to the secondary vortex being *** addition,when applying the mid-passage gap of a 135surface angle,the horseshoe vortex is pushed away,and the coverage area at the pressure-side endwall is enlarged *** best film cooling performance is achieved when the upstream surface angle is 135and the downstream surface angle is 45due to the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness being increased at both the pressure-and suction-side *** the mass flow ratio is 1.5%,the coverage area is enlarged by 43%,and the area-averaged adiabatic film cooling effectiveness is increased by 37%,when compared with those under the traditional mid-passage mode.
