We develop a simple new design for a multi-band metamaterial absorber(MTMA)for radar applications.Computer Simulation Technology(CST)Studio Suite 2018 was used for the numerical analysis and absorption study.The simulated results show four high peaks at 5.6 GHz,7.6 GHz,10.98 GHz,and 11.29 GHz corresponding to absorption characteristics of 100%,100%,99%,and 99%,respectively.Furthermore,two different structures were designed and compared with the proposed MTMA.The proposed structure remained insensitive for any incident angle and polarization angle from 0°to60°.Moreover,negative constitutive parameters were retrieved numerically.To support the simulated results,the proposed design was fabricated by using a computer numerical control-based printed circuit board prototyping machine and tested experimentally in a microwave laboratory.The absorption mechanism of the proposed MTMA is presented through the surface current and electric field distributions.The novelties of the proposed structure are a simple and new design,ease of fabrication,low cost,durability,suitability for real-time applications and long-term stability given the fabrication technique and non-destructive measurement method and very high absorption.The proposed structure has potential applications in C and X band frequency ranges.

BACKGROUND Diabetic polyneuropathy is a very common complication of diabetes.Numerous studies are available in terms of pathogenesis.But examination methods with low reliability are still not standardized and generally time consuming.Highsensitive,easy-to-access methods are expected.Biochemical markers are one of the subjects of research.We aimed to discover a potential biomarker that can be used for this purpose in patients with diabetes who have not yet developed symptoms of neuropathy.AIM To determine the place and availability of visfatin and thiol-disulfide homeostasis in this disorder.METHODS A total of 392 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were included in the study.The polyneuropathy clinical signs were evaluated with the Subjective Peripheral Neuropathy Screen Questionnaire and Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument questionnaire and examination.The biochemical parameters,oxidative stress markers,visfatin,and thiol-disulfide homeostasis were analyzed and correlated with each other and clinical signs.RESULTS Subjective Peripheral Neuropathy Screen Questionnaire and Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument questionnaire with examination scores were correlated with each other and diabetes duration(P<0.005).Neuropathy related symptoms were present in 20.7%of the patients,but neuropathy related findings were observed in 43.9%of the patients.Serum glucose,glycated hemoglobin,and visfatin were positively correlated with each other.Also,these parameters were positively correlated with the total oxidative stress index.Total and native thiol was positively correlated with total antioxidant status and negatively with oxidant status.Inversely thiol-disulfide positively correlated with higher glucose and oxidant status and negatively with total antioxidant status(P<0.005).There was no correlation between visfatin and thiol-disulphide(P=0.092,r=0.086).However,a significant negative correlation was observed between visfatin and total with native thiol(P<0.005,r=-0.338),(P<0.005,r=-0.448).CONCLUSION Diagnosis of

Objective:To examine the effect of the COVID-19 virus,especially the Omicron variant,on hematological parameters of hospitalized pediatric patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods:Medical records of pediatric COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Kartal Dr.Lütfi K?rdar City Hospital in Istanbul,Turkey,between March 2020 and May 2022 were retrospectively reviewed to analyze data regarding demographics,SARS-Co V-2 infection polymerase chain reaction(PCR)test results,reversetranscriptase(RT)-PCR for other respiratory agents,duration of hospital stay,and hematological and biochemical laboratory findings.Results:Out of 467 children with a confirmed diagnosis of SARSCo V-2 infection,94(20.1%)had Omicron infection and 373(79.9%)were infected with other variants;the Omicron group had younger patients than the remaining samples(P<0.001).The most frequent clinical symptoms in all children were cough(53.5%)and fever(32.3%),followed by vomiting(20.8%).Lung involvement in the Omicron group(10.6%)was significantly lower than in the remaining samples(29.8%)(P<0.001).Hemoglobin and lymphocyte levels were lower in the Omicron-infected group(both P<0.001),while prothrombin time,activated partial thromboplastin time,international normalized ratio,and D-dimer levels were significantly higher in this group(P<0.001,P<0.001,P<0.001,and P=0.023,respectively).In terms of lung involvement,those with lung involvement were significantly older(P<0.001).Conclusions:Although lung involvement was less common with Omicron infection,this group had greater hematological system involvement,such as anemia,lymphopenia,D-dimer elevation,and coagulation disorders.

This paper aims to introduce the novel concept of neutrosophic crisp soft set(NCSS),including various types of neutrosophic crisp soft sets(NCSSs)and their fundamental operations.We define NCS-mapping and its inverse NCS-mapping between two NCS-classes.We develop a robust mathematical modeling with the help of NCS-mapping to analyze the emerging trends in social networking systems(SNSs)for our various generations.We investigate the advantages,disadvantages,and natural aspects of SNSs for five generations.With the changing of the generations,it is analyzed that emerging trends and the benefits of SNSs are increasing day by day.The suggested modeling with NCS-mapping is applicable in solving various decision-making problems.

Objective:To examine the effects of human bocavirus type 1(HBoV1)on the course of lower respiratory tract infections in cases of monoinfection and coinfection,and the effects of HBoV1 viral load on the disease in children under six years old hospitalized with a diagnosis of HBoV1-associated lower respiratory tract infections.Methods:Children under six years of age,who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection due to HBoV1 between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 were included in the study.Laboratory confirmation of the respiratory pathogens was performed using polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:Fifty-four(16.4%)children with HBoV1 among 329 children whose PCR was positive with bacterial/viral agent in nasopharyngeal swab samples were included in the study.There were 28(51.9%)males and 26(48.1%)females with a median age 23.4 months[interquartile range(IQR):13.2,30.0 months](min-max:1 month-68 months).HBoV1 was detected as a monoinfecton in 26(48.1%)children,and as a coinfection with other respiratory agents in 28 children(51.9%).In multiple regression analysis,coinfection(P=0.032)was associated with the length of hospitalization(P<0.001;R^(2)=0.166).There was a negative correlation(r=−0.281,P=0.040)between cough and cycle threshold.Fever was found to be positively correlated with C-reactive protein(r=0.568,P<0.001)and procalcitonin(r=0.472;P=0.001).Conclusions:Although we found a higher HBoV1 viral load in children with more cough symptoms in our study,it had no effect on the severity of the disease,such as length of hospital stay and need for intensive care.Coinfection was found to affect the length of hospitalization.

Interest in preconcentration techniques for the determination of metals at ultratrace levels still continues increasingly because of some disadvantages of flameless atomic absorption spectrometry as well as the high costs of other sensitive methods in compared to flame atomic absorption spectrometry.In this study,thiol-containing sulfonamide resin was synthesized,characterized and applied as a new sorption material for solid phase extraction of nickel in drinking water samples.After preconcentration procedure,flame atomic absorption spectrometry was used for determinations.Optimum parameters were found to be pH=3.2,contact time=20 min and eluate volume=3 mL.The limit of detection was found to be 0.75 ng·mL-1.The synthesized resin exhibits the superiority in compared to the other adsorption reagents because of the fact that there is no necessity of any complexing reagent,high sorption capacity as well as the relatively fast extraction rate.The Ni concentrations in the studied 21 kind of water samples were found to be in the range of BDL-4.0 ng·mL-1.

Essential oils of the resins of Pinus brutia and Pinus pinea were evaluated for their biological potential. Essential oils were characterized using GC-MS and GC/FID. In vitro antimicrobial, phytotoxic, antioxidant, and insecticidal activities were carried out using the direct contact and the fumigant assays, respectively. The chemical profile of the essential oils of the resins of P. pinea and P. brutia included mainly α-pinene(21.39% and 25.40%), β-pinene(9.68% and 9.69%), and caryophyllene(9.12% and 4.81%). The essential oils of P. pinea and P. brutia exerted notable antimicrobial activities on Micrococcus luteus and Bacillus subtilis, insecticidal activities on Ephestia kuehniella eggs, phytotoxic activities on Lactuca sativa, Lepidium sativum, and Portulaca oleracea, as well as antioxidant potential. Indications of the biological activities of the essential oils suggest their use in the formulation of ecofriendly and biocompatible pharmaceuticals.
