Acute appendicitis can cause of portal vein thrombosis. diagnosis of appendicitis can be difficult because its symptoms may be masked by those of acute portal vein thrombosis. We report 2 cases of appendicitis associated with acute portal vein thrombosis whose diagnosis was delayed by several months. The delayed diagnosis of acute appendicitis in the presence of acute portal vein thrombosis can be avoided by using spiral-computed tomography and careful investigation of signs of appendicitis.

Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as *** a future high energy nuclear physics project,an Electron-ion collider in China(EicC)has been *** will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator,High intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility(HiAF)which is currently under construction,together with a new electron *** proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons(with a po-larization of 80%)and protons(with a polarization of 70%)with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of(2–3)×1033 cm^(−2)·s^(−1).polarized deuterons and Helium-3,as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium,will be also available at the *** main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region,including 3d tomography of nucleon;the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment;the exotic states,especially those with heavy flavor quark *** addition,issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the *** order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals,a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge *** document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the *** EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EiC project in the United *** success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the frequency of selfassessed facial skin sensitivity and its different patterns, and the relationship with gender and sun sensitivity in a general adult population. Methods: A standardized 11-item questionnaire investigating reactions experienced during the past year was developed. The questions explored different patterns of skin sensitivity: pattern i (blushing related to vascular reactivity), pattern ii (skin reactions to certain environmental conditions), pattern iii (skin reactions after substance contact), and for women pattern iV (‘breakout of spots’related to menstrual cycle). Additional items were addressed for women and men, including sun sensitivity. The questionnaire was administered to a large middle aged population involved in the ‘Supplément en Vitamines et Minéraux Antioxydants’(***) cohort. Results: Sensitive facial skin was reported by 61%of the women (n=5074) and 32%of the men (n=3448), and the frequency decreased with age. The frequency of patterns i, ii and iii was greater for women (78, 72 and 58%, respectively) than for men (56, 48 and 28%) of comparable classes of age. The frequency of pattern iV was reported by 49%of premenopausal women, and skin reactions after shaving by 41%of the men. Sun sensitivity was found to be a major component of skin sensitivity. Factor analysis showed that individuals with fair phototype frequently evoked reactions associated with pattern i, and skin redness and burning sensations were related to certain environmental conditions (pattern ii). Conclusion: Skin sensitivity is a common concern that declines with age and is relevant for men as well as for women.

Searching for the neutrinoless double beta decay(NLdBd)is now regarded as the topmost promising technique to explore the nature of neutrinos after the discovery of neutrino masses in oscillation *** X-iii(particle and astrophysical xenon experiment iii)will search for the NLdBd of136Xe at the China Jin ping Underground Laboratory(CJpL).in the first phase of the experiment,a high pressure gas Time projection Chamber(TpC)will contain 200 kg,90%136Xe enriched gas operated at10 *** pitch micro-pattern gas detector(Microbulk Micromegas)will be used at both ends of the TpC for the charge readout with a cathode in the *** signals can be used to reconstruct the electron tracks of the NLdBd events and provide good energy and spatial *** detector will be immersed in a large water tank to ensure～5 m of water shielding in all *** second phase,a ton-scale experiment,will consist of five TpCs in the same water tank,with improved energy resolution and better control over backgrounds.

Background and purpose:Carotid angioplasty and stenting(CAS) has emerged as a potential alternative to endarterectomy(CEA) for the treatment of carotid arter y disease. Aside from the periprocedural complication rates, the benefits of CAS will be affected by the incidence of recurrent carotid stenosis. Methods:We co nducted a systematic analysis of all peer-reviewed studies reporting on the rat e of restenosis (≥50%) after CAS based on duplex ultrasound or angiography tha t were published between January 1990 and July 2004. We identified 34 studies th at reported on a total of 4185 patients with a follow-up of 3814 arteries over a median of 13 months (range, 6 to 31 months).The ultrasound criteria and the lo wer thresholds for defining a recurrent stenosis were very heterogeneous. Result s:The cumulative restenosis rates after 1 and 2 years were ≈6%and 7.5%in tho se studies, which used a lower restenosis threshold≥50%to 70%and ≈4%in the first 2 years after CAS in those studies, which used a lower restenosis threshol d > 70%to 80%.Conclusions:in reviewing the current literature, the early rest enosis rates after CAS compare well with those reported for CEA. However, this a nalysis of the peer-reviewed literature also indicates that the early restenosi s rates after CAS might be higher than previously suggested in observational sur ***, an active follow-up of all stented arteries seems to be warrant ed. Moreover, the bulk of endovascular data are derived from small studies with short follow-up periods so that the long-term durability of CAS still needs to be established in large trials. ideally, these studies should use a clear and u niform definition of restenosis and identical follow-up schedules.

黄斑裂孔术后视功能及主观视力知觉研究

To evaluate the functional and anatomical results of macular hole surgery and to explore its effect on patients’Health-Related Quality Of Life (HR-QOL) and to investigate the associations between self-reported HR-QOL and conventional measures of visual function. Case series. The National Eye institute 25-item V isual Function Questionnaire (VFQ-25) and the 36-item Short-Form Health surve y (SF-36) were self-administered by 30 patients before and 4 months after macu lar hole surgery. preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative clinical data were collected including visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and metamorphopsia . Multi-item scales rating different aspects of HR-QOL were compared before an d after surgery, and their correlation with traditional methods of outcome evalu ation was analyzed. Macular hole closure was achieved in 26 patients (87%). Mea n LogMAR visual acuity improved by 6±10 letters for distance and 7 ±12 letters for near. Metamorphopsia was reduced by a mean of 35±70 squares on Amsler char t, and pelli-Robson contrast sensitivity decreased by a mean of -0.09 ±0.3 lo g units postoperatively. The VFQ-25 composite score as well as scale scores ass ociated with general vision, near vision, vision-related mental health, and rol e difficulties were significantly improved (p sure o f macular hole. Conversely out of the eight SF-36 health concepts, limitation i n usual role activities because of emotional problems was the only one that sign ificantly improved postoperatively. Both baseline and postoperative best-correc ted visual acuity significantly correlated with most of the VFQ subscale scores before and after surgery, respectively. in this case-se-ries, macular hole sur gery appears to have a beneficial effect on patients’subjective perception of v isual function. Macrozoospermia,characterized by the presence of largeheaded spermatozoa usually carrying several flagella,is one of the most severe phenotypes of male *** in most cases,the gametes are chromosomally abnormal and cannot be used for assisted reproductive technologies(ART)(Ray et al.,2017).in 2007,subjects from consanguineous families were shown to carry the same homozygous deleterious AURkC variant(NM_001015878.2:c.144delC,later renamed c.145delC,***49TrpfsTer23),establishing AURkC as the first and main gene associated with macrozoospermia(dieterich et al.,2007).Using flow cytometry,all spermatozoa from patients homozygous for the c.145delC variant were shown to be tetraploid,highlighting a cytokinesis blockage of the first meiotic divisions thus confirming that ART cannot be successful for these patients(dieterich et al.,2009).

Thirty-six patients with subarachnoid and intraventricular cysticercosis were randomly assigned to receive albendazole at 15 or 30 mg/kg/day plus dexamethasone for 8 days. Results favored a higher dose, with larger cyst reduction on MRi at 90 and 180 days and higher albendazole sulfoxide levels in plasma. An albendazole course at 30 mg/kg/day combined with corticosteroids is safe and more effective than the usual dose. A single treatment was insufficient in intraventricular and giant cysts.
