Com.arisons of oxbow lake fish assem.lages in relation to bigheaded carp establishm.nt in the lower White River, Arkansas

Background Since the late 1990s, bigheaded carps(largely silver carp [Hypophthalm.chthys m.litrix] but also bighead carp [H. nobilis]) have established throughout the lower m.ssissippi River basin. Using previously studied oxbow lakes in the lower White River basin, Arkansas, we com.ared current(2017, “post-carp” establishm.nt) fish assem.lages to historical(2002, “pre-carp” establishm.nt) fish assem.lages. Fish assem.lages were com.rehensively assessed using m.ltiple gears, including boat electrofishing, m.ni-fyke nets, and experim.ntal sm.ll-m.sh gill *** T-tests suggested that fish assem.lage indices of richness, diversity, evenness, and dom.nance were often greater(P ng the post-carp period as reflected by boat electrofishing and experim.ntal gill nets. However, all indices were generally sim.lar(P > 0.05) between the pre-carp and post-carp period with fish assem.lages depicted using m.ni-fyke nets. nonm.tric m.ltidim.nsional scaling analyses indicated that fish assem.lages differed structurally between pre-carp and post-carp periods. Assem.lage differences were linked to both sm.ll and large abundance changes for m.re than 20 species. Abundances of gizzard shad(Dorosom. cepedianum., em.rald shiner(notropis atherinoides), pugnose m.nnow(Opsopoeodus em.liae), crappies(Pom.xis spp.), bluegill(Lepom.s m.crochirus), orangespotted sunfish(L. hum.lis), and yellow bass(m.rone m.ssissippiensis) declined between the pre-carp and postcarp periods. Conversely, abundances of weed shiner(n. texanus), pallid shiner(Hybopsis am.is), longear sunfish(L. m.galotis), buffalofishes(Ictiobus spp.), and gars(Lepisosteus spp.) generally increased during the sam. *** Although not possible to conclude assem.lage shifts were entirely related to bigheaded carps due to the absence of an appropriate reference system.where carps did not establish, the wide establishm.nt of these carps is one of the m.st pervasive changes to have occurred in the lower White

Industry decarbonization requires the developm.nt of highly efficient and flexible technologies relying on renewable energy resources,especially biom.ss and solar/wind *** the case of pure oxygen production,oxygen transport m.m.ranes(OTm.)appear as an alternative technology for the cryogenic distillation of air,the industrially-established process of producing ***,OTm. could provide oxygen from.different sources(air,water,CO_(2),etc.),and they are m.re flexible in adapting to current processes,producing oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furtherm.re,OTm. can be integrated into catalytic m.m.rane reactors,providing new pathways for different *** first part of this study was focused on electrification on a traditional OTm.m.terial(Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),im.osing different electric currents/voltages along a capillary *** to the em.rging Joule effect,the m.m.rane-surface tem.erature and the associated O_(2) perm.ation flux could be ***,the OTm.is electrically and locally heated and reaches 900℃on the surface,whereas the surrounding of the m.m.rane was m.intained at 650℃.The O_(2)perm.ation flux reached for the electrified m.m.ranes was~3.7 nm. m.n^(-1)cm.(-2),corresponding to the flux obtained with an OTm.non-electrified at 900℃.The influence of depositing a porous Ce_(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) catalytic/protective layer on the outer m.m.rane surface revealed that lower surface tem.eratures(830℃)were detected at the sam. im.osed electric ***,the electrification concept was dem.nstrated in a catalytic m.m.rane reactor(Cm.)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was carried *** reaction is very sensitive to tem.erature,and here,we dem.nstrate an im.rovem.nt of the ethylene yield by reaching m.derate tem.eratures in the reaction cham.er while the O_(2) injection into the reaction can be easily fine-tuned.

Railway infrastructure relies on the dynam.c interaction between wheels and rails;thus,assessing wheel wear is a critical aspect of m.intenance and *** paper focuses on the wheel-rail wear indicator T-gam.a(Tγ).Am.dst its use,it becom.s apparent that Tγ,while valuable,fails to provide a com.rehensive reflection of the actual m.terial rem.val and actual contact form.t,which m.ans that using only Tγas a target for optim.zation of profiles is not *** this work,three different freight wagons are evaluated:a m.ter-gauge and a broad-gauge heavy haul vehicles from.South Am.rican railways,and a standard-gauge freight vehicle operated in Europe,with different axle loads and dissim.lar new wheel/rail *** vehicles are subjected to com.rehensive m.ltibody sim.lations on various *** sim.lations aim.d to elucidate the intricate relationship between different wear indicators:Tγ,wear index,m.terial rem.val,and m.xim.m.wear depth,under diverse curves,non-com.ensated lateral accelerations(A_(nc)),and *** findings showed a correlation of 0.96 between Tγand wear depth and 0.82 between wear index and m.terial rem.ved for the outer *** the results,the Tγis better than the wear index to be used when analyzing wear depth while the wear index is m.re suited to foresee the m.terial *** results also show the low influence of A_(nc)on wear index and Tγ.By considering these factors together,the study aim. to im.rove the understanding of wheel-rail wear by selecting the best wear analysis approaches based on the effectiveness of each param.ter.

Polio eradication surveillance in Sri Lanka,2019-2023

Objective:To evaluate the polio laboratory surveillance carried out from.January,2019 to m.y,2023 by the Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri ***:This retrospective study analyzed all stool sam.les received under the acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)and im.unodeficient vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV)surveillance at Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka from.January,2019 to m.y,*** results of the testing m.thodologies were extracted from.the laboratory data system.i.e.,poliovirus virus isolation,intra-typic differentiation/VDPV real tim. reverse transcriptase polym.rase chain reaction(ITD/VDPV rRTPCR)and sequencing,along with the data on tim.ng of reporting results,stool adequacy and *** was analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 2141 stool sam.les from.1644 cases were received for AFP surveillance from.Sri Lanka(93.61%),m.ldives(1.52%),and im.unodeficient VDPV(4.86%)*** polioviruses(19/1644,1.15%)and non-polio enteroviruses(73/1644,4.44%)were isolated,while Sabin-like 3 virus was detected in m.jority(12/19,63.15%)am.ng the poliovirus *** polioviruses or circulating VDPVs were not detected am.ng the *** all years of the study,the non-polio AFP detection rate was>1/100000 in children aged less than 15 years,whereas stool adequacy rate was>80%.All results were reported within 14 days of receipt,ensuring tim.ly reporting as per global ***:The Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka plays a vital role in m.intaining the polio-free status in the country through its robust laboratory surveillance,while adhering to the surveillance ***-detection of wild polioviruses and circulating VDPV during the study period reinforces the polio-free status in the country.

The hydrotherm.l synthesis of In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)is investigated as well as the properties of sensor layers based on these *** the synthesis of In_(2)O_(3),interm.diate products In(OH)_(3)and InOOH are form.d,which are the precursors of stable cubic(c-In_(2)O_(3))and m.tastable rhom.ohedral(rh-In_(2)O_(3))phases,respectively.A transition from.c-In_(2)O_(3)to rh-In_(2)O_(3)is observed with the addition of CeO_(2).The introduction of cerium.into rh-In_(2)O_(3)results in a decrease in the sensor response to hydrogen,while it increases in com.osites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).The data on the sensor activity of the com.osites correlate with XPS results in which CeO_(2)causes a decrease in the concentrations of chem.sorbed oxygen and oxygen vacancies in rh-In_(2)O_(3).The reverse situation is observed in com.osites based on c-In_(2)O_(3).Com.ared to In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2)–In_(2)O_(3)obtained by other m.thods,the synthesized com.osites dem.nstrate m.xim.m.response to H_(2)at low tem.eratures by 70–100℃,and have short response tim.(0.2–0.5 s),short recovery tim.(6–7 s),and long-term.stability.A m.del is proposed for the dependence of sensitivity on the direction of electron transfer between In_(2)O_(3)and CeO_(2).

Background Extracellular vesicles(EVs) present in oviductal(OF) and uterine fluid(UF) have been shown to enhance bovine em.ryo quality during in vitro culture by reducing lipid contents and m.dulating lipid m.tabolism.related genes(Lm.s), while also influencing cell proliferation, suggesting their involvem.nt on the regulation of different biological pathways. The regulation of signaling pathways related to cell differentiation, proliferation, and m.tabo-lism.is crucial for early em.ryo developm.nt and can determ.ne the success or failure of the pregnancy. Bioactive m.lecules within EVs in m.ternal reproductive fluids, such as m.cro RnAs(m.RnAs), m.y contribute to this regulatory process as they m.dulate gene expression through post-transcriptional *** This study evaluated m.RnA cargo in OF-EVs from.the early luteal phase and UF-EVs from.the m.d-luteal phase, coinciding with em.ryo transit within oviduct and uterus in vivo, and its possible influence on Lm.s and sign-aling pathways crucial for early em.ryo developm.nt. A total of 333 m.RnAs were detected, with 11 exclusive to OF, 59 to UF, and 263 were com.on between both groups. From.the 20 differentially expressed m.RnAs, 19 up-regulated in UF-EVs(bta-m.R-134, bta-m.R-151-3p, bta-m.R-155, bta-m.R-188, bta-m.R-181b, bta-m.R-181d, bta-m.R-224, bta-m.R-23b-3p, bta-m.R-24-3p, bta-m.R-27a-3p, bta-m.R-29a, bta-m.R-324, bta-m.R-326, bta-m.R-345-3p, bta-m.R-410, bta-m.R-652, bta-m.R-677, bta-m.R-873 and bta-m.R-708) and one(bta-m.R-148b) in OF-EVs. These m.RnAs were predicted to m.dulate several pathways such as Wnt, Hippo, m.PK, and lipid m.tabolism.and degradation. Direct recycling is a novel approach to overcom.ng the drawbacks of conventional lithium.ion battery(LIB)recycling processes and has gained considerable attention from.the academ.c and industrial sectors in recent *** prim.ry objective of directly recycling LIBs is to efficiently recover and restore the active electrode m.terials and other com.onents in the solid phase while retaining electrochem.cal *** technology's advantages over traditional pyrom.tallurgy and hydrom.tallurgy are costeffectiveness,energy efficiency,and sustainability,and it preserves the m.terial structure and m.rphology and can shorten the overall recycling *** review extensively discusses the advancem.nts in the direct recycling of LIBs,including battery sorting,pretreatm.nt processes,separation of cathode and anode m.terials,and regeneration and quality enhancem.nt of electrode *** encom.asses various approaches to successfully regenerate high-value electrode m.terials and stream.ining the recovery process without com.rom.sing their electrochem.cal ***,we highlight key challenges in direct recycling when scaled from.lab to industries in four perspectives:(1)battery design,(2)disassem.ling,(3)electrode delam.nation,and(4)com.ercialization and *** on these challenges and changing m.rket trends,a few strategies are discussed to aid direct recycling efforts,such as binders,electrolyte selection,and alternative battery designs;and recent transitions and technological advancem.nts in the battery industry are presented.
