cONStANS alters the circadian clock in Arabidopsis thaliana

Plants are sessile organisms that have acquired highly plastic developmental strategies to adapt to the *** these processes,the floral transition is essential to ensure reproductive success and is finelyregulated by several internal andexternal genetic *** photoperiodic pathway,which controls plant response to day length,is one of the most important pathways controlling *** Arabidopsis photoperiodic flowering,cONStANS(cO)is the central gene activating the expression of the florigen FLOWERING LOcUS t(Ft)in the leaves at the end of a long *** circadian clock strongly regulates co ***,to date,no evidence has been reported regarding a feedbackloop from the photoperiod pathway back to the circadian *** transcriptional networks,we have identified relevant network motifs regulating the interplay between the circadian clock and the photoperiod *** expression,chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments,and phenotypic analysis allowed us to elucidate the role of co over the circadian *** with altered cO expression showed a different internal clock period,measured by daily leaf rhythmic *** showed that co upregulates the expression of key genes related to the circadian clock,such as ccA1,LHY,PRR5,and Gl,at the end of a long day by bindingto specific sites on their ***,a high numberof PRR5-repressed target genes are upregulated by cO,and this could explain the phase transition promoted by *** cO-PRR5 complex interacts with the bZiP transcriptionfactor HY5andhelps to localize the complex in the promoters of clock *** together,our results indicate that there may be a feedback loop in which co communicates back to the circadian clock,providing seasonal information to the circadian system.

We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of WS_(2),te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and tiS_(3)and tiS_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for WS_(2)and tiS_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Remediation of amide pesticide-polluted soils by combined solarization and ozonation treatment

Agriculture has a close relationship with nature,but it can also be the source of negative and permanent environmental *** use of pesticides in modern agriculture is a common practice,but their side effects on the environment cannot be *** this study,we evaluated a combination of solarization and ozonation techniques for the elimination of six amide pesticides(boscalid,chlorantraniliprole,cyflufenamid,fluopyram,napropamide,and propyzamide)in *** experiments were performed with four different soils to assess the efficiency of this methodology at different soil temperatures and ozone dosages under laboratory conditions,and then a greenhouse pot experiment was conducted under controlled conditions during *** days after the onset of the experiments,higher degradation percentages of amide pesticides were observed in ozonized soils than in other treated soils,particularly when ozone was applied at 10 cm soil *** results show that the utilization of ozonation,along with solarization,represents a valid method for degrading residues of the studied pesticides and suggest that this combined technology may be a promising tool for remediating pesticide-polluted soils.

New therapeutic strategy with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for refractory hepatopulmonary syndrome after liver transplant: A case report

BAcKGROUND Due to the lack of published literature about treatment of refractory hepatopulmonary syndrome(HPS)after liver transplant(Lt),this case adds information and experience on this issue along with a treatment with positive *** is a complication of end-stage liver disease,with a 10%-30%incidence in cirrhotic *** can reverse the physiopathology of this process and restore normal ***,in some cases,refractory hypoxemia persists,and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(EcMO)can be used as a rescue therapy with good *** SUMMARY A 59-year-old patient with alcohol-related liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension was included in the Lt waiting list for *** had good liver function(Model for End-Stage Liver Disease score 12,child-Pugh class B7).He had pulmonary fibrosis and a mild restrictive respiratory pattern with a basal oxygen saturation of 82%.the macroaggregated albumin test result was>*** demonstrated a forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)of 78%,forced vital capacity(FVc)of 74%,FEV1/FVc ratio of 81%,diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide of 42%,and carbon monoxide transfer coefficient of 57%.He required domiciliary oxygen at 2 L/min(16 h/d).the patient was admitted to the intensive care unit(IcU)and extubated in the first 24 h,needing high-flow therapy and non-invasive ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide *** was needed after 72 *** to the non-response to supportive therapies,installation of EcMO was decided with progressive recovery after 9 *** was possible on the tenth day,maintaining a high-flow nasal cannula and de-escalating to conventional oxygen therapy after 48 *** was discharged from IcU on postoperative day(POD)20 with a 90%-92%oxygen *** recycling was needed twice for acute *** patient was discharged from hospital on POD 27 with no symptoms,with an 89%-90%oxygen *** Due to the favorable results observed,EcMO could bec

Orthostatic Hypotension: Qtc Interval Prolongation during Head-Up tilt

Background: the Qt interval shortens in response to sympathetic stimulation. Head-up tilt-table (HUt) testing is a straightforward way to achieve brisk sympathetic stimulation. there is not enough information about the response of the Qt interval to HUt, particularly, in patients with orthostatic hypotension (OH). Objective: Analyse the response of the RR, Qt and Qtc intervals in patients with OH and reflex syncope (NM) during HUt and find differences between groups. Methods: We reviewed the electrocardiograms and compare the RR and Qt/Qtc intervals during 1) baseline;2) HUt plus hyperventilation;3) positive test. Results: We studied 137 patients, 62 control group (no syncope and negative HUt). On average, the RR HUt interval was shorter than the resting RR by −171 ± 110.4 ms in controls;−228.6 ± 119.4 ms (NM) and −194 ± (OH) (P conclusion: Significant differences between the reflex group and the OH during a positive test, the Qtc decreased in the NM group, but in the OH population increased. this observation has not been described. We hypothesize that Qtc prolongation could reflect autonomic nervous system downregulation and could explain to a degree, the increased mortality in this group.

Association between lifestyle factors and thyroid function in young euthyroid adults

Purpose:the present work examines the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism,physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determined in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were measured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** time spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively measured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stimulating hormone(tSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with tSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the Mediterranean diet was negatively related to tSH and free thyroxine(Ft4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with Ft4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seems to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.
