Radio Frequency IDentification(RFID)and related technologies such as near Field Communication(nFC)are becoming essential in industrial contexts thanks to their ability to perform contactless data exchange,either device-to-device or *** of the three main operation modes of nFC,called read/write mode,makes use of the latter type of *** is extensively used in business information systems that make use of nFC tags to provide the end-user with augmented information in one of several available nFC data exchange formats,such as plain text,simple URLs or enriched *** a wide variety of physical form factors,nFC-compatible tags(wireless transponders)are currently available in many locations with applications going from smart posters,contactless tokens,tap-and-go payments or transport ticketing to automated device configuration,patient identification at hospitals or inventory management within supply *** of these applications handle sensitive processes or *** paper proposes a complete security threat model for the read/write operation mode of nFC used in next Generation Industrial IoT(nx-IIoT)*** model,based on a wellknown methodology,STRIDE,allows developers and users to identify nFC applications vulnerabilities or weaknesses,analyze potential threats,propose risk management strategies,and design mitigation mechanisms to mention only some significant examples.

Despite their potential for providing important information for paleobiogeography,studies using ostracod assemblages compiled from global datasets have been scarce so *** this study,the paleogeographic implications of the relationship between different ostracod assemblages are analyzed and discussed for the Albian and *** compiled an ostracod dataset at the genus level,with 168 genera for the Albian and 174 for the Cenomanian,to which different multivariate statistical methods of grouping were *** affinity between different ostracod assemblages from different regions allowed for the delineation of 30 operational geographic units(OGUs)for the Albian,and 32 OGUs for the Cenomanian,grouped in three paleobiogeographic units(PBUs;Megatethys,Persia,and Austral)and one sub-unit(PBSU;Maghreb associated to the Megatethys).The Maghreb PBSU showed minor changes between the Albian and *** relationship among the OGUs grouped in each PBU is related to different factors,such as eustatic sea level events,similar climatic zones,and marine current circulation patterns.A relationship was observed between the Gabon and nigeria OGUs with the Persia PBU,which suggests a direct east—west connection between them during the *** affinity observed in the Austral PBU between the South American,South African,and Australian regions during the Albian can be explained by their relative geographic isolation due to the Walvis Ridge *** eventual flooding of this barrier led to the relationship observed between the SE Brazilian and Bolivian regions with the Austral ***,the data also suggested that the separation of the Indian subcontinent from the Austral PBU took place during the Cenomanian.

Membranes are fundamental elements within organ-on-a-chip(OOC)platforms,as they provide adherent cells with support,allow nutrients(and other relevant molecules)to permeate/exchange through membrane pores,and enable the delivery of mechanical or chemical *** OOC platforms,physiological processes can be studied in vitro,whereas OOC membranes broaden knowledge of how mechanical and chemical cues affect cells and *** with membranes are in vitro microfluidic models that are used to replace animal testing for various applications,such as drug discovery and disease *** this review,the relevance of OOCs with membranes is discussed as well as their scaffold and actuation roles,properties(physical and material),and fabrication methods in different organ *** purpose was to aid readers with membrane selection for the development of OOCs with specific applications in the fields of mechanistic,pathological,and drug testing *** stimulation from liquid flow and cyclic strain,as well as their effects on the cell’s increased physiological relevance(IPR),are described in the first *** review also contains methods to fabricate synthetic and ECM(extracellular matrix)protein membranes,their characteristics(e.g.,thickness and porosity,which can be adjusted depending on the application,as shown in the graphical abstract),and the biological materials used for their *** discussion section joins and describes the roles of membranes for different research purposes and their advantages and challenges.

Background:The purpose of the study was to determine the advantages and disadvantages of epi-on corneal crosslinking(CXL)techniques compared with standard epi-off ***:We searched MEDLInE and EMBASE for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and non-randomized studies of interventions(nRSIs)and we evaluated the selected papers according to the Cochrane risk of bias *** considered,as primary outcomes,average Kmax flattening,changes in uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity(UDVA and CDVA);as secondary outcomes,we considered changes in pachymetry values and endothelial cell density(ECD).We also investigated adverse events related to the treatments and treatment ***-analysis was conducted with a fixed or random-effects model using weighted mean difference(MD)with 95%confidence interval(CI)as the effect ***:A total of 15 studies were included and among these 15 trials,9 were RCTs and 6 were nRSIs,but only 4 studies showed no high risk of bias and were included in this *** analysis revealed significant postoperative differences in CDVA(MD=0.07;95%CI 0.04 to 0.10;Pnd no significative differences in UDVA,Kmax,central corneal thickness(CCT)and ECD(P>0.05).Epi-on CXL protocol was found to be significantly less prompt to have risks of delay in epithelial healing(P=0.035)and persistent stromal haze(P=0.026).Conclusion:Epi-on CXL is as effective as epi-off *** for a higher significant improvement in CDVA with current epi-on protocols,our meta-analysis demonstrates that epi-on and epi-off CXL have comparable effects on visual,topographic,pachymetric,and endothelial ***-on CXL has clinical advantages in terms of comfort and avoidance of complications as it reduces the risk of developing delay in epithelial healing and persistent stromal haze.

Infiltration,as a major component of the hydrological cycle,plays an important role in ecosystems,river flooding,and soil ***,this process has been studied on different soils,with different vegetation cover,and under different climate ***,it is still necessary to know how infiltration rates depend on land degradation,vegetation cover,forest management,and forest restoration,since soil infiltration is related to soil hydrological function and hydrological ecosystem *** aim of our study is to analyze the way reforestation and check dam construction have helped to improve soil infiltration rates in comparison with old,degraded land,different soils and vegetation covers in Central ***,three infiltration tests were carried out by means of a simple methacrylate infiltrometer ring,in four sampling plots,for five types of land use:(i) native holm oak forest,(ii) 60-year-old reforested pine wood,(iii) shrubs,(iv) sediment wedges of check dams,and(v) gullies and degraded *** results show much higher infiltration rates in the soil of 60-yearold pine reforestation sites(1198.00 mm·h^(-1)),and in the sediment wedges of check dams(1088.00 mm·h^(-1)),than in those of degraded hillslopes(365.00 mm·h^(-1)) and shrubland(420.80 mm·h^(-1)).The rates were also shown to be close to those from the remaining patches of native holm oak woodland(770.40 mm·h^(-1)).We also found that organic matter,humus and litter depth,and height of vegetation and cover,all improve soil infiltration rates,while slope degree,presence of coarse elements,stoniness,clay content,bulk density,and electric conductivity inhibit the *** was additionally seen that pine reforestation and check dam construction caused degraded land to recover its hydrological conditions to a level that is quite close to that of the ancient oak holm native forest,alongside ameliorating the hydrological cycle in the *** information will be very useful for decisi
