This paper explores the application of non-intrusive load monitoring techniques in the industrial sector for disaggregating the energy consumption of machinery in manufacturing processes. With an increasing focus on energy efficiency and decarbonization measures, achieving energy transparency in production becomes crucial. Utilizing non-intrusive load monitoring, energy data analysis and processing can provide valuable insights for informed decision-making on energy efficiency improvements and emission reductions. While non-intrusive load monitoring has been extensively researched in the building and residential sectors, the application in the industrial manufacturing domain needs to be further explored. This paper addresses this research gap by adapting established non-intrusive load monitoring techniques to an industrial dataset. By employing artificial neural networks for energy disaggregation, the determination of energy consumption of industrial machinery is made possible. Therefore, a generally applicable cross-energy carrier method to disaggregate the energy consumption of machinery in manufacturing processes is developed using a design science research approach and validated through a practical case study utilizing a compressed air demonstrator. The results show that the utilization of artificial neural networks is well-suited for energy disaggregation of industrial data, effectively identifying on and off states, multi-level states and continuously variable states. Non-intrusive load monitoring should be further considered in the research of emerging artificial intelligence technologies in energy consumption evaluation. It can be a viable alternative for intrusive load monitoring and is a prerequisite to installing energy meters for every machine.

This contribution presents a novel wear dependent virtual flow rate sensor for single stage single lobe progressing cavity pumps. We study the wear-induced material loss of the pump components and the impact of this material loss on the volumetric efficiency. The results are combined with an established backflow model to implement a backflow calculation procedure that is adaptive to wear. We use a laboratory test setup with a highly abrasive fluid and operate a pump from new to worn condition to validate our approach. The obtained measurement data show that the presented virtual sensor is capable of calculating the flow rate of a pump being subject to wear during its regular operation.

This study explored the thermo-chemical properties of industrial hemp hurd with different provenances,maturity stages,and retting *** findings were then compared to hemp hurd used in the fabrication of citric acid-bonded ultra-low-density hemp hurd ***-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(Py-GC/Ms),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)were employed to document the variability of the hurd and comprehend the potential impact on biobased composite *** choice of cultivar,maturity stage,and processing modality significantly influenced the chemical composition,presence of functional groups,and thermal stability of the ***-GC/Ms revealed substantial variations in the lignin-to-carbohydrate(L/C)ratio,along with the absence of fatty acids in certain *** FTIR signals confirmed consistent functional groups,differences in peak intensities were indicative of carbohydrate variations associated with maturity and retting duration,impacting the availability of hydroxyl groups for,i.e.,interparticle bonding in citric acid-based ***,it was observed that shorter retting durations initially enhanced the thermal resistance,but prolonged retting led to accelerated degradation,significantly reducing the hurd’s residual *** findings indicated notable differences among the samples,emphasizing the importance of investigating variables such as provenance/cultivar,maturity,and processing *** assessment is essential to ensure effective agronomic practices that align the raw material characteristics with the specific requirements of intended applications,such as the fabrication of biobased hemp hurd composites.

Immune outcomes are key mediators of many health benefits of exercise and are determined by exercise type,dose(frequency/duration,intensity),and individual ***,reduced availability of ambient oxygen(hypoxia)modulates immune functions depending on the hypoxic dose and the individual capacity to respond to *** combined exercise and hypoxia(e.g.,high-altitude training)sculpts immune responses is not well understood,although such combinations are becoming increasingly ***,in this paper,we summarize the impact on immune responses of exercise and of hypoxia,both independently and together,with a focus on specialized cells in the innate and adaptive immune *** review the regulation of the immune system by tissue oxygen levels and the overlapping and distinct immune responses related to exercise and hypoxia,then we discuss how they may be modulated by nutritional ***,antioxidant,and anti-inflammatory mechanisms underlie many of the adaptations that can lead to improved cellular metabolism,resilience,and overall immune functions by regulating the survival,differentiation,activation,and migration of immune *** review shows that exercise and hypoxia can impair or complement/synergize with each other while regulating immune system *** acclimatization,training,and nutritional strategies can be used to avoid risks and tap into the synergistic potentials of the poorly studied immune consequences of exercising in a hypoxic state.
