The cultivation of the marine species of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei has emerged as one of the segments that best develop in the Brazilian aquaculture, representing the agribusiness that grew the most in recent years. Regarding the economic importance of the farming of this species in Brazil, further studies on genetic improvement were conducted. A F2 segregating population consisting of 192 samples for each G1 and G2 families, from crossing inbred lines was used for the studies performed in the present work. The genetic linkage analysis was based on polymorphic markers derived from nine AFLP (Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism) primers. Fourteen genetic linkage groups including 103 segregating polymorphic markers were constructed covering350 cMfor G1 and four genetic linkage groups including 59 markers were constructed covering300 cMfor G2. Simple marker analyses were performed among individuals evaluated phenotypically, finding markers linked to genes that may be potentially important and useful to assess characteristics of economic importance for traits related to weight and the disease IMN (idiopathic muscle necrosis). The statistical model including markers explained major proportion of phenotypic characteristic weight in relation to disease incidence IMN.

Introduction:The histological diagnosis of prostate cancer is commonly based on morphological *** presence of malignant tissue mixed with benign tissue,or the presence of carcinoma that mimics benignity may generate difficulty in the diagnostic ***,the application of immunohistochemistry contributes its diagnostic ***:To evaluate the 34βE12 marker in the detection of adenocarcinoma(ADn),atypical small acinar proliferation(ASAp),regular prostatic tissue(RPT)and regular prostatic tissue alternated by atrophy spotlights(RPTa)in transrectal biopsy guided by ultrasonography of patients with suspected prostate ***:Analysis of 34 patients who underwent ultrasound-guided transrectal biopsy with subsequent analysis by H&E staining and 34βE12 labeling for elucidation of neoplasms or diseased tissues with doubtful ***:The marker 34βE12 showed negativity in 100%of the neoplasms ADn,positivity in 100%of the benign prostatic tissues(RPT and RPTa);the patients with ASAp presented positivity(20%)and negativity(80%).The chi-square test(χ2)showed that there is an association(χ2=29.55 and p<0.0001)between the groups,that is,the 34βE12 marker has a significant value(p<0.0001)in the elucidation of patients with prostatic neoplasia and benign prostatic *** and Conclusion:With the early screening of prostate cancer in the modern era,pathologists have become increasingly challenged to diagnose small outbreaks of cancer when only a few atypical glands are present in transrectal biopsy-guided *** 34βE12 marker becomes an important tool in elucidating diagnoses such as ADn and ASAp.

Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is a live attenuated form of Mycobacterium bovis, initially used in medicine as a vaccination agent only. The discovery of its antineoplastic effects in bladder cancer has led to the widespread recognition of BCG intravesical instillation as a therapeutic option. Although sepsis following BCG intravesical instillation is rare, it is nonetheless a dreadful and potentially fatal complication. Therapy usually relies on antituberculous therapy and steroids, alongside with intensive care unit admission. The authors report a case of a 67-year-old male patient who developed septic shock with multiple organ dysfunction after intravesical BCG instillation and review the currently available knowledge concerning the risk factors, diagnosis, management and prevention of BCG sepsis.

Diagnostic Value between 1984 and 2018 of Transrectal Biopsy Guided by Ultrasonography after Radical Prostatectomy

Use of Calcined Bauxite Waste as a Supplementary Cementitious Material： Study of Pozzolanic Activity

Red mud is a solid waste derived from the processing of bauxite ore to produce alumina. It is considered a hazardous waste due to its high pH. The use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) such as red mud and metakaolin as part of binders for concrete has been increasing throughout the world, particularly in the production of high strength and high performance concrete. This paper describes the use of mud as collected and after calcination at distinct temperatures (450, 650, and 1,000 °C) attempting to improve its reactivity. Materials with pozzolanic characteristics may partially replace the cement in mortars or concrete, with known benefits on the durability of products. Mortars containing up to 30 wt% red mud were prepared and characterized. Their pozzolanic activity index was evaluated based on physical and mechanical parameters (EN 4220) and on chemical analysis (EN 196-5). By comparing with a reference mixture without red mud, the obtained results confirm the potential of red mud as a pozzolanic additive to cementitious materials.

Use of Red Mud as Addition for Portland Cement Mortars

The aim of the present research work was to investigate the possibility of adding red mud, an alkaline leaching waste that is obtained from bauxite during the Bayer process for alumina production, in the raw meal of Portland cement mortars. The red mud is classified as dangerous, according to NBR 10004/2004, and world while generation reached over 117 million tons/year. This huge production requires high consuming products to be used as incorporation matrix and we studied the influence of red mud addition on the characteristics of cement mortars and concrete. In this paper the properties of Portland cement mortars incorporating high amounts of red mud was evaluated: pH variation, fresh (setting time, workability or normal consistency and water retention), and hardened state (mechanical strength, capillary water absorption, density and apparent porosity). Results seem promising for red mud additions up to 20 wt%.

BACKGROUND The etiology of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is unknown,but it is believed to be *** hygiene hypothesis proposes that better hygiene conditions would lead to less infectious disease during childhood and favor the development of immune-mediated *** To test the hygiene hypothesis in IBD by assessing the environmental risk factors associated with IBD development in different regions of Brazil with diverse socioeconomic development *** A multicenter case-control study was carried out with 548 Crohn’s disease(CD)and 492 ulcerative colitis(UC)outpatients and 416 healthy controls,from six IBD centers within different Brazilian states at diverse socioeconomic development stages.A semi-structured questionnaire with 87 socioeconomic and environmental questions was *** regression model was created to assess the odds ratio(OR)with P value and 95%confidence intervals(CI).RESULTS Predictive variables for both diseases(CD and UC)were women[odd ratios(OR)=1.31;OR=1.69],low monthly family income(OR=1.78;OR=1.57),lower number of cohabitants(OR=1.70;OR=1.60),absence of vaccination(OR=3.11;OR=2.51),previous history of bowel infections(OR=1.78;OR=1.49),and family history of IBD(OR=5.26;OR=3.33).Associated risk factors for CD were age(18-39 years)(OR=1.73),higher educational level(OR=2.22),absence of infectious childhood diseases(OR=1.99).The UC predictive variables were living in an urban area(OR=1.62),inadequate living conditions(OR=1.48)and former smokers(OR=3.36).Appendectomy was a risk factor for CD(OR=1.58)with inverse association with UC(OR=4.79).Consumption of treated and untreated water was associated with risk of CD(OR=1.38)and UC(OR=1.53),*** This is the first examining environmental exposures as risk factors for inflammatory bowel disease in *** of the variables associated with disease risk support the role of the hygiene hypothesis in IBD development.
