Objective:To investigate hepatoprotective activity of ethanol extract of Melothria heterophyila Lour Cogn.（EEMH） against CCl4-induced hepatic damage in ***:β-sitosterol was isolated by column chromatography and characterized *** different doses（200 and 400 mg/kg bw） of EEMH were administered orally in alternate *** hepatoprotective activity was studied in liver by measuring biochemical parameters such as serum aspartate amino transferase（AST）,alanine amino transferase（ALT）,alkaline phosphatase（ALP）,total protein and total *** peroxidation product and different antioxidant enzyme activities were assessed in liver ***:EEMH reduced all biochemical parameters and lipid peroxidation,as well as it increased the antioxidant enzyme activities in comparison with *** protective effect of the extract on CCl4 induced damage was confirmed by histopathological examination of the ***:This result strongly supports the protective effect of EEMH against acute liver injury,and may be attributed to its antioxidative activity.

For this study,we synthesized Aurivillius Bi_(5)Ti_(3)FeO_(15) ceramic using the generic solid-state reaction route and then performed roomtemperature X-ray diffraction to confirm that the compound had a single phase with no *** surface morphology of the prepared sample was observed to contain microstructural grains approximately 0.2–2μm in *** dielectric properties of the sample were determined as a function of frequency in a range of approximately 100 Hz to 1 MHz at various temperatures(303 K≤T≤773 K).Nyquist plots of the impedance data were found to exhibit a semi-circular arc in the high-temperature region,which is explained by the equivalent electrical circuit(R_(1)C_(1))(R_(2)QC_(2)),where R_(1) and R_(2) represent the resistances associated with the grains and grain boundaries,respectively,C_(1) and C_(2) are the respective capacitances,and Q is the constant phase element(CPE),which accounts for non-Debye type of *** results indicate that both the resistance and capacitance of the grain boundaries are more prominent than those of the *** alternating current(ac)conductivity data were analyzed based on the Jonscher universal power law,which indicated that the conduction process is dominated by the hopping *** calculated activation energies of the relaxation and conduction processes were very similar(0.32 to 0.53 eV),from which we conclude that the same type of charge carriers are involved in both processes.

This work was to study composition characteristics and the subsequent effect on the lead(Pb) binding properties of dissolved organic matter(DOM) derived from seaweed-based(SWOF) and chicken manure organic fertilizers(CMOF) during a one-year field incubation experiment using the excitation-emission matrix-parallel factor(EEM-PARAFAC) and twodimensional correlation spectroscopy(2DCOS) analysis. Results showed that high aromatic and hydrophobic fluorescent substances were enriched in CMOF-derived DOM and SWOFderived DOM and enhanced over time. And phenolic groups in the fulvic-like substances for SWOF-derived DOM and carboxyl groups in the humic-like substances for CMOF-derived DOM had the fastest responses over time, respectively. Moreover, both non-fluorescent polysaccharides and fluorescent humic-like substances or fulvic-like substances with aromatic(C=C) groups first participated in the binding process of Pb to SWOF-derived DOM on day 0 and 180 during the lead binding process. In contrast, humic-like substances associated with aromatic(C=C) and phenolic groups gave a faster response to Pb binding on day 360. Regarding CMOF-derived DOM, the fulvic-like substances associated with aromatic(C=C) and carboxylic groups displayed a faster response to Pb ions on day 0. Nonetheless,polysaccharides and humic-like associated with phenolic groups had a faster response on days 180 and 360. It is noteworthy that the polysaccharides, which participated in Pb binding to CMOF-derived DOM, posed a higher risk of Pb in the environment after 360 days. Therefore, these findings gave new insights into the long-term applications of commercial organic fertilizers for the amendment of soil.

Urban Growth and Its Impact on Cityscape: A Geospatial Analysis of Rohtak City, India

Rohtak is one of the eight priority towns (Regional Centres) of National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Plan 2001. It lies 70 kms north-west from Delhi, the National Capital of India. Located at 28?41'1'' North latitude and 76?12'42'' East longitude in the NCR region of Haryana state on National Highway No. 10, it spreads over 100.57 km2. Its population was projected to grow to 500,000 by 2001. Despite its nearness to the national capital it did not attract investment and the rate of urbanization remained low. Rohtak city grew slower than the state of Haryana in the three decades ending in 2001. On being declared as Municipal Corporation in 2010 urban growth of Rohtak took place in the form of extension in territorial jurisdiction and inclusion of urbanized eight villages. The new economic environment demands sustainable land management. Spatial information of land use/land cover types and their change detection in time series are important means for city planning and undertaking development activities. The present work is undertaken in that spirit. It has analyzed the relationship between urban growth and land use changes and their impact on Rohtak city. The period of focus is from 1983 to 2010. Both primary and secondary sources of data have been used for the present study. Secondary sources of data—guide map, topographical sheet and high resolution satellite imageries have been used to detect land use/land cover changes from the study area whereas primary source of data include ground truth and photographs from the field.

Cobalt(Co)-modified brownmillerite KBiFe_(2)O_(5)(KBFO;[KBiFe_(2(1−x))Co_(2x)O_(5)(x=0,0.05)])polycrystalline is synthesized following the solid-state reaction *** refinement of X-ray diffraction data confirmed the phase purity of KBFO and KBiFe_(1.9)Co_(0.1)O_(5)(KBFCO).The optical bandgap energy(Eg)of KBFO decreased from 1.59 to 1.51 eV because of Co *** decrease in bandgap can be attributed to the tilting of the Fe–O tetrahedral structure of *** observed room-temperature Raman peaks of KBFCO shifted by 3 cm^(−1) toward a lower wavenumber than that of *** shift in Raman active modes can be attributed to the change in the bond angles and bond lengths of the Fe–O tetrahedral structure and modification in response to oxygen deficiency in KBFO because of Co *** with that of KBFO,the frequency-dependent dielectric constant and dielectric loss of KBFCO decrease at room temperature,which is a consequence of the reduction in oxygen migration and modification in response to vibrational modes present in the sample.

The use of nanotechnology in nanoparticle-based cancer therapeutics is gaining impetus due to the unique biophysical properties of nanoparticles at the quantum level. Silver nanoparticles （AgNPs） have been reported as one type of potent therapeutic nanoparticles. The present study is aimed to determine the effect of AgNPs in arresting the growth of a murine fibrosarcoma by a reductive mechanism. Initially, a bioavailability study showed that mouse serum albumin （MSA）-coated AgNPs have enhanced uptake; therefore, toxicity studies of AgNP-MSA at 10 different doses （1-10 mg/kg b.w.） were performed in LACA mice by measuring the complete blood count, lipid profile and histological parameters. The complete blood count, lipid profile and histological parameter results showed that the doses from 2 to 8 mg （IC50： 6.15 mg/kg b.w.） sequentially increased the count of leukocytes, lymphocytes and granulocytes, whereas the 9- and 10-mg doses showed conclusive toxicity. In an antitumor study, the incidence and size of fibrosarcoma were reduced or delayed when murine fibrosarcoma groups were treated by AgNP-MSA. Transmission electron micrographs showed that considerable uptake of AgNP-MSA by the sentinel immune cells associated with tumor tissue and a morphologically buckled structure of the immune cells containing AgNP-MSA. Because the toxicity studies revealed a relationship between AgNPs and immune function, the protumorigenic cytokines TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β were also assayed in AgNP-MSA-treated and non-treated fibrosarcoma groups, and these cytokines were found to be downregulated after treatment with AgNP-MSA.

A 45 year old woman was diagnosed as having anteromedial radial head dislocation and distal radius fracture five months after her injury on fight forearm. The radial head dislocation led to ulnar nerve compression. She had severe restriction of her elbow movements. She was treated with arthrolysis, decompression of the ulnar nerve and radial head resection. The reverse Essex Lopresti injury and radial head dislocation compressing the ulnarnerve has not been reported in English language literature to the best of our knowledge. A mechanism is proposed for the injury. In acute presentations, restoration of both the radioulnar joints should be done and neglected nature of such injury leads to suboptimal outcomes.

We investigated the compositional and structural differences in sequences derived from different fractions of wheat genomic DNA obtained using methylation filtration and Cot fractionation. Comparative analysis of these sequences revealed large compositional and structural variations in terms of GC content, different structural elements including repeat sequences （e.g., transposable elements and simple sequence repeats）, protein coding genes, and non-coding RNA genes. A correlation between methylation status [determined on the basis of selective inclusion/ exclusion in methylation-filtered （MF） library] of different repeat elements and expression level was observed. The expression levels were determined by comparing MF sequences with expressed sequence tags （ESTs） available in the public domain. Only a limited overlap among ME high Cot （HC）, and ESTs was observed, suggesting that these sequences may largely either represent the low-copy non-transcribed sequences or include genes with low expression levels. Thus, these results indicated a need to study MF and HC sequences along with ESTs to fully appreciate complexity of wheat gene space.

The two-body weak decays ■and■ are examined using isospin analysis to study nonfactorizable contributions. After determining strong interaction phases and obtaining factorizable contributions from spectator-quark diagrams for Nc=3, we determine nonfactorizable isospin amplitudes from the experimental data for these modes. Our results support the universality of the ratio of nonfactorizable isospin reduced amplitudes for these decays within experimental errors. To demonstrate that these systematics are not coincidental, we also plot our results w. r. t. this ratio.
