Clinical characteristics and analysis of vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss in different ages

BACKGROUND Numerous studies have found that patients experiencing sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSHL),with or without accompanying vertigo,often show impaired vestibular ***,there is a dearth of studies analyzing vestibularevoked myogenic potentials(VEMPs)in SSHL patients across various age *** To investigate vestibular condition in SSHL patients across various age *** Clinical data of 84 SSHL patients were investigated ***,cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials(c-VEMPs),and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials(o-VEMPs)were conducted on these *** assessed included the latencies of P1 and N1 waves,as well as the amplitudes of P1–N1 ***,the study evaluated the influence of factors such as sex,affected side,configuration of hearing loss,and presence of accompanying *** Among the 84 SSHL patients,no significant differences were observed among the three groups in terms of gender,affected side,and the presence or absence of *** II(aged 41–60 years)had the highest number of SSHL *** rates of absent o-VEMPs in the affected ears were 20.83%,31.58%,and 22.72%for the three age groups,respectively,with no statistically significant difference among *** rates of absent c-VEMPs in the affected ears were 8.3%,34.21%,and 18.18%for the three age groups,respectively,with significant *** the unaffected ears,there were differences observed in the extraction rates of o-VEMPs in the unaffected ears among the age *** the three age groups,no significant differences were noted in the three age groups in the latencies of P1 and N1 waves or in the amplitude of N1–P1 waves for c-VEMPs and o-VEMPs,either on the affected side or on the unaffected side,across the three age *** The extraction rate of VEMPs is more valuable than *** of the presence of vertigo,vestibular organs are involved in ***,SSHL pat

The brown planthopper(BPH,Nilaparvata lugens)is a notorious sap-sucking insect pest that damages rice(Oryza sativa)plants throughout *** BPH feeding,saliva enters rice plant tissues,whereas during oviposition egg-associated secretions(EAS)are deposited in damaged plant *** changes in rice to planthopper salivary effectors have been widely ***,the effects of EAS from planthopper on rice immunity remains largely *** this study,we found that both infestation of rice by gravid BPH female adults and treatment with the EAS elicited a strong and rapid accumulation of jasmonic acid(JA),JA-isoleucine,and hydrogen peroxide in *** enhanced plant defenses not only in rice but also in tobacco,and these impaired the performance of BPH on rice,as well as the performance of aphids and whiteflies on ***-throughput proteome sequencing of EAS led to 110 proteins being identified and 53 proteins with 2 or more unique peptides being *** proteins from BPH EAS were also found in the salivary proteome from herbivores,suggesting potential evolutionary conservation of effector functions across feeding and oviposition;however,others were only identified in EAS,and these are likely specifically related to *** findings point to novel proteins affecting interactions between planthoppers and rice during oviposition,providing an additional source of information for effector studies.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, such as MoS2, have been considered as a competitive coordinate for future electronics due to their excellent electrostatics and high mobility [1–3]. In this study,we investigate the quasinormal modes(QNMs)of a Lorentz-violating spacetime,factoring in a cosmological constant,within the framework of Einstein-bumblebee *** findings reveal that the interaction of spacetime with an anisotropic bumblebee field imparts distinct contributions to the axial and polar sectors of the vector *** subsequently breaks the isospectrality typically observed in vector *** evidence strongly indicates isospectral breaking in the vector modes of Einstein-bumblebee black holes:a pronounced breakage in the real part of the frequencies,while the imaginary component seems less *** isospectral breaking indicates the existence of two different waveforms in the Ringdown phase of the black hole,which provides a potential signal of quantum gravity observable in current experiments.

Modelling analysis embodies drastic transition among global potential natural vegetations in face of changing climate

Potential natural vegetation(PNV)is a valuable reference for ecosystem renovation and has garnered increasing attention ***,there is limited knowledge on the spatio-temporal distributions,transitional processes,and underlying mechanisms of global natural vegetation,particularly in the case of ongoing climate *** this study,we visualize the spatio-temporal pattern and inter-transition procedure of global PNV,analyse the shifting distances and directions of global PNV under the influence of climatic disturbance,and explore the mechanisms of global PNV in response to temperature and precipitation *** achieve this,we utilize meteorological data,mainly temperature and precipitation,from six phases:the Last Inter-Glacial(LIG),the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM),the Mid Holocene(MH),the Present Day(PD),2030(20212040)and 2090(2081–2100),and employ a widely-accepted comprehensive and sequential classification sy–stem(CSCS)for global PNV *** find that the spatial patterns of five PNV groups(forest,shrubland,savanna,grassland and tundra)generally align with their respective ecotopes,although their distributions have shifted due to fluctuating temperature and ***,we observe an unexpected transition between tundra and savanna despite their geographical *** shifts in distance and direction of five PNV groups are mainly driven by temperature and precipitation,although there is heterogeneity among these shifts for each ***,the heterogeneity observed among different global PNV groups suggests that they may possess varying capacities to adjust to and withstand the impacts of changing *** spatio-temporal distributions,mutual transitions and shift tendencies of global PNV and its underlying mechanism in face of changing climate,as revealed in this study,can significantly contribute to the development of strategies for mitigating warming and promoting re-vegetation in degraded regions worldwide.

Structural and magnetic properties of micropolycrystalline cobalt thin films fabricated by direct current magnetron sputtering

Pure cobalt(Co)thin films were fabricated by direct current magnetron sputtering,and the effects of sputtering power and pres-sure on the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of the films were *** the sputtering power increases from 15 to 60 W,the Co thin films transition from an amorphous to a polycrystalline state,accompanied by an increase in the intercrystal pore ***,the resistivity decreases from 276 to 99μΩ·cm,coercivity increases from 162 to 293 Oe,and in-plane magnetic aniso-tropy *** the sputtering pressure decreases from 1.6 to 0.2 Pa,grain size significantly increases,resistivity significantly de-creases,and the coercivity significantly increases(from 67 to 280 Oe),which can be attributed to the increase in defect ***-pondingly,a quantitative model for the coercivity of Co thin films was *** polycrystalline films sputtered under pressures of 0.2 and 0.4 Pa exhibit significant in-plane magnetic anisotropy,which is primarily attributable to increased microstress.

Chronic administration of triclosan leads to liver fibrosis through hepcidin-ferroportin axis-mediated iron overload

Triclosan(TCS)has been manufactured as an antibacterial compound for half a ***,it is widely used in various personal care products;however,its potential adverse effects raise a lot of ***,we create a long-term oral administration mouse model and identify the corresponding hepatotoxicity of *** discover that daily intragastric administration of 10 mg/kg TCS to mice for 12 weeks results in severe hepatic *** study displays that hepatic iron increased 18%,23%and 29%upon oral TCS treatment for4,8 and 12 weeks,*** by hepatic iron variation,splenic and duodenal iron are increased,which indicates systemic iron *** only excessive iron accumulated in the liver,abnormal hepatic malondialdehyde,prostaglandin synthase 2 and glutathione peroxidase 4 are pointed to *** study uncovers that hepcidin expression increases 7%,10%,4%in serum and 2.4-,4.8-,and 2.3-fold on transcriptional levels upon TCS exposure for 4,8 and 12 weeks,*** together,the mice in the TCS-treated group show disordered systemic iron homeostasis via the upregulated hepatic hepcidin-ferroportin ***,both hepatic iron overload(systemic level)and hepatocyte ferroptosis(cellular level)are accused of TCS-induced liver ***■,an iron scavenger,significantly ameliorates TCS-induced liver *** summary,this study confirms the impact of TCS on liver fibrosis;a critical signal pathway is also *** significance of the current study is to prompt us to reevaluate the“pros and cons”of TCS applications.

Unraveling the role of NiSnPH@OOH/CC perovskite hydroxide for efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol to formate

The sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key tailback for hydrogen production from the water *** OER with thermodynamically auspicious methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)can significantly boost the H_(2) and value-added products ***,it is currently challenging to achieve a synergistic manipulation of product selectivity and performance for MOR ***,we report NiSnPH@OOH/CC(CC=carbon cloth)perovskite hydroxide nanosphere as an efficient MOR electrocatalyst with high activity,stability,and selectivity towards methanol oxidation to formate.A surface amorphous layer of defect rich NiOOH was generated in operando by selective Sn leaching with stable perovskite hydroxide bulk structure,which mitigates the oxidative power and optimizes the local coordination environment of the active NiOOH *** situ Raman combined with electrochemical studies further confirm the key active species,NiOOH,generated in operando enhance the MOR and blocking the over oxidation of methanol to CO_(2).As a result,NiSnPH@OOH/CC effectively masks the OER and attains>99%selectivity with 100%Faradic efficiency for *** results of this study show the advances of NiSnPH@OOH/CC as an efficient electrocatalyst for MOR and also suggest its potential applications for various small organic molecules oxidation.
