Whole breast ultrafractionation radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery in early breast cancer: A single-center, prospective, observational study from China

Objective:This single-center,prospective,observational study was designed to investigate the toxicities,patient-reported outcome(PRO),and dosimetric analysis of whole breast ultrafractionation radiotherapy(RT)after breast-conserving surgery(BCS)in early breast cancer(BC).Patients and methods:Patients diagnosed with BC stage I,II and treated with BCS were enrolled.A dose of 26 Gray(Gy)in five fractions was prescribed to the whole breast and tumor *** endpoints included toxicities,PRO,and dosimetric *** was measured by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer general quality of life questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30)and the BC-specific questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-BR23)***:Between January 2022 and June 2023,62 female patients were *** median age was 45 *** patients(83.9%)were diagnosed with pathological stage I *** median planning target volume(PTV)was 456.4 *** minimum,maximum,and mean doses,and D95(dose of PTV irradiated volume more than 95%)to PTV were 20.2,28.8,27.2,and 26.3 Gy,*** median mean lung dose and percentage lung volume receiving 8 Gy(V8)were 3.6 Gy and 13.4%,*** median mean heart dose,V1.5(percentage of organ volume irradiated with 1.5 Gy or higher),and V7(percentage of organ volume irradiated with 7 Gy or higher)were 0.6 Gy,6.8%,and 0.4%,*** effects before RT showed no obvious differences compared to that post *** toxicities of grade 3 or higher *** patients had asymptomatic radiation pneumonia(grade 1),and 12 patients had radiation dermatitis(grade 1).No factor was significantly related to radiation dermatitis or radiation *** the EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 questionnaires,all function and symptom scores before RT had no significant differences compared with that after RT,1−2 months after RT,and 3−4 months after *** RT did not worsen *** 1-year crude local control was 100%.Conclusion:Whole br

Activity of Azoxystrobin and SHAM to Four Phytopathogens

The study was conducted to make clear the activity of azoxystrobin to 4 plant pathogens and the synergistic effects of salicylhydroxamic acid （SHAM）, which acted on the alternative oxidase. It was also conducted to be aware of the mechanism of azoxystrobin in inhibition on mycelial respiration and the influence of SHAM. The activity test of azoxystrobin and SHAM was carried out with a mycelial linear growth test and spore germination test. Other related biological properties were also observed. Inhibition of azoxystrobin and SHAM on 4 pathogens was determined by using SP-II oxygraph system. Azoxystrobin inhibited mycelial growth in Colletotrichum capsici, Botrytis cinerea, Rhizoctonia solani, and Magnaporthe grisea, respectively; it also inhibited conidia germination, and conidia production in C. capsici, B. cinerea M. grisea, and sclerotia formation in R. solani. Moreover, it created stayed pigment biosynthesis in C. capsici and M. grisea somehow. Salicylhydroxamic acid enhanced inhibition by azoxystrobin. An oxygen consuming test of the mycelia showed that azoxystrobin inhibited all the 4 fungi＇s respiration in the early stages. With the concentration rising up, the effectiveness increased. However, as time went on, the respiration of the mycelia treated with fungicides recovered and SHAM could not inhibit the oxygen consuming. This reaction between the mycelia and the fungicides appeared not to initiate alternative respiration but rather the other mechanism created a lack of efficacy.

Methylprednisolone accelerate chest computed tomography absorption in COVID-19:A three-centered retrospective case control study from China

Synthesis of one-dimensional GaN nanorods by Tb intermediate layer with different thicknesses

GaN nanorods were synthesized by magnetron sputtering and ammonification system, and the thickness of Tb intermediate layer was changed to study the effect on GaN nanorods. The resultant was tested by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy （HRTEM）, and photo- luminescence （PL） spectra. The results show that the thickness of Tb layer has an evident effect on the modality, quality, and luminescence properties of GaN nanorods. PL spectra at room temperature show a very strong emission peak at 368 nm and a weak emission peak at 387 nm, and the intensities of the peak for the produced samples reach the maximum when Tb layer is 20 nm. Finally, the optimal thickness of 20 nm of Tb intermediate layer for synthe- sizing GaN nanostructures is achieved.

Construction of Recombinant Modified Vaccinia Ankara(MVA) Expressing Hepatitis B Virus Surface Antigen

The T lymphocyte response has been shown to be the determinant in the clearance of many viral infections. Hence, therapeutic vaccine candidates against HBV are designed to enhance this response of the immune system. Vaccinia virus vector-based vaccines have been proposed as excellent candidates to elicit long-term and strong T lymphocyte mediated immune responses. In this study, the recombinant MVA expressing HBV surface antigen has been constructed, which can elicit a potent T cell mediated response. The ELISA results for the surface protein in the medium of the recombinant MVA, strongly indicate that the recombinant virus has been successfully obtained.

High-resolution remote thermometry based on Bi^(3+)-doped 0D zinc halide hybrids

Developing highly sensitive optical thermometers is of great significance due to their capability to enable remote and non-contact temperature measurements, rendering them highly applicable in diverse and harsh environments. Herein we report a temperature-dependent phosphor of 0D metal halide hybrid by incorporating Bi^(3+)into the(MePPh_(3))_(2)ZnCl_(4) matrix. Through Bi^(3+)doping,the initially non-luminescent(MePPh_(3))_(2) ZnCl_(4) matrix exhibits a deep-blue emission centered at 453 nm, with a photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY) of 5.71% and a Stokes shift of 75 nm at room temperature. Experimental characterization demonstrates that exciton-like luminescence of Bi^(3+)is mainly responsible for the blue emission. Single crystals of Bi^(3+)-doped(MePPh_(3))_(2)ZnCl_(4) show an unusual correlation between photoluminescence(PL) lifetime and temperature. Particularly, the dependence of luminescence lifetime on temperature is most remarkable in the temperature range of 80 to 100 K with an exceptional sensitivity up to 0.09 K^(-1), representing one of the best levels for thermometry based on PL decay lifetime. Our work not only provides a viable strategy for designing a novel, environmentally friendly, and stable blue emitter, but also paves the way for precise thermometric application at low temperature.

Experimental investigation on using CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion with high water cut in enhanced oil recovery

CO_(2) emulsions used for EOR have received a lot of interest because of its good performance on CO_(2)mobility ***,most of them have been focusing on the high quality CO_(2) emulsion(high CO_(2) fraction),while CO_(2) emulsion with high water cut has been rarely *** this paper,we carried out a comprehensive experimental study of using high water cut CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion for enhancing oil ***,a nonionic surfactant,alkyl glycosides(APG),was selected to stabilize CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion,and the corresponding morphology and stability were evaluated with a transparent PVT ***,plugging capacity and apparent viscosity of CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion were measured systematically by a sand pack displacement apparatus connected with a 1.95-m long capillary ***,a high water cut(40 vol%) CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion was selected for flooding experiments in a long sand pack and a core sample,and the oil recovery,the rate of oil recovery,and the pressure gradients were *** results indicated that APG had a good performance on emulsifying and stabilizing CO_(2) *** inversion from H_(2)O/CO_(2) emulsion to CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion with the increase in water cut was ***_(2)/H_(2)O emulsions with lower water cuts presented higher apparent viscosity,while the optimal plugging capacity of CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion occurred at a certain water ***,the displacement using CO_(2)/H_(2)O emulsion provided 18.98% and 13.36% additional oil recovery than that using pure CO_(2) in long sand pack and core tests,*** work may provide guidelines for EOR using CO_(2) emulsions with high water cut.
