Organic Reserves in ropical Grasses under Grazing

Inadequate management in recent times has been considered the main factor contributing to pasture degradation. A major reason for this is related to gross errors of grazing management as a consequence of the lack of knowledge of ecophysiological limits of forage. This review aimed to approach the importance of organic reserves for grasses under grazing. Therefore, the predominant effect of animal grazing is the reduction of leaf area which impacts on carbohydrate and nitrogen reserves and consequently the growth of tillers, leaves and roots. Grass growth after defoliation is related to organic reserves and rate of photosynthesis. The latter is affected by the level of canopy light interception of and by the reminiscent leaf area index. When grazing management is carried out with respect to the physiological limits of grass growth, the rate of dry matter accumulation will be quick and constant. In this aspect, grazing management consists of seeking an efficient balance between plant growth and consumption which will reflect on animal productivity. Therefore, a balance point among frequency and intensity of defoliation must be found to achieve greater animal production concerning the ecophysiological limits of the forage plants. So the challenge will be to find a balance between frequency and intensity of grazing to achieve greater production of animals respecting the eco-physiological limits of forage plants for each forage grass individually.

The study of the paper about the rhizosphere in the transformation of nitrogen compounds can generate knowledge of the microbial and biochemical atmosphere of the rhizosphere of wheat, for the understanding of the dynamics of the N in agricultural zones, with the purpose of optimizing the fertilizer use and increasing the productivity of the cultures. Therefore, the objective of the present work was to know the effect the rhizosphere in the dynamics of the bacterial populations that take part in the cycle of the N in wheat nourished with slow release fertilizer and one commercial, irrigated with waste water or well. Analyses in the soil took place vertisol used in the experiment with the rhizospheric and non rhizospheric fraction. The slow release fertilizer used has a matrix enriched with N and p and is in the process of being patented (it explains in materials and methods). Each fertilizer was evaluated and the combination of the slow release fertilizer with organic fertilizer. The technique of the number most probable was used (MNp) to carry out the quantification of the nitrificants and denitrificants bacteria to the 55, 67 and 97 days after sowing (Dds). The results obtained for the MNp of denitrificants bacteria and Nitrosomonas indicate that the effect average of the types of water, soil and fertilizers, as well as their interaction to each other was not significant (p > 0.05). The effect of the fertilizing type and soil (rhizospheric and non rhizospheric) in the MNp of Nitrobacter was significant (p pheric soil is more favorable for the development of denitrificants bacteria and Nitrobacter, whereas the MNp of Nitrosomonas was greater in rhizospheric soil.

Reproductive biotechnologies offer us greater possibilities to improve animal genetics. However, the success of these depends on different factors such as the proper selection of the donor female. For this reason, endocrine markers have been used to evaluate the ovarian reserve, which allow a successful selection of donors. Recent research has shown, among other things, that concentrations greater than 0.130 ng/mL of anti-Mullerian hormone (also known as Muller-inhibiting substance, which is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily of growth and differentiation factors) are related to donors of more than fifteen transferable embryos. Therefore, this review describes studies showing that the measurement of anti-Müllerian hormone concentrations, before superovulation programs, reduces the costs per embryo produced.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of supplying calcium salts of linseed oil (Ca-FA) rich in omega-3 (α-linolenic acid) on the production and chemical composition of milk and its nutraceutical value in dairy cows in early lactation. The trial lasted 12 weeks (2 weeks for adaptation to lipids and 10 weeks of data collection). A total of 36 Holstein dairy cows with 58.0 ± 17.0 days in milk (DIM), 594.1 ± 92.4 kg BW, 2.6 ± 1.5 parity and 38.9 ± 9.3 kg milk dayp>-1p> were used in a randomized complete block design. The treatments were: 1) Omega-3 (O3): 5.2 kg DM day-1 of concentrate including 0.7 kg DM of Ca-FA + 13.5 kg DM day-1 of partial mixed ration (pMR) + 12 kg DM day-1 of alfalfa pasture (Medicago sativa) and 2) Control (C): diet similar to O3 but lipid supplementation was replaced by cracked corn grain so that the diets were isoenergetic. No treatment effect was detected (p > 0.05) for any milk production and composition variables, except for urea in milk that was slightly higher in O3 (p = 0.02). The treatment × week interaction was significant (p p period in favor of group C (1.39 vs. 1.13 kg·day-1 and 3.86% vs. 3.23% for fat yield and content, respectively). Haematuria was known as a benign hallmark of some glomerular diseases, but over the last decade, new evidences pointed its negative implications on kidneydisease progression. Cytotoxic effects of oxidative stress induced by hemoglobin, heme, or iron released from red blood cells may account for the tubular injury observed in human biopsy specimens. However, the precise mechanisms responsible for haematuria remain unclear. The presence of red blood cells （RBCs） with irregular contours and shape in the urine indicates RBCs egression from the glomerular capillary into the urinary space. Therefore glomerular haematuria may be a marker of glomerular filtration barrier dysfunction or damage. In this review we describe some key issues regarding epidemiology and pathogenesis of haematuric diseases as well as their renal morphological fndings.

聚焦于西班牙1996-2007年间的房地产泡沫,此次危机与西班牙前两次经历的地产泡沫有着相似的背景条件:将住房建设作为利好投机性投资。但几次泡沫供给结构却不同:此次住房供给主要为分散式,不同于以往的集中供应;旅游地产大量出现;房屋拥有型社会形成。作者认为供给结构的改变并非危机的主要原因,并提出了造成房地产泡沫的四个关键要素:符合一定条件的土地、土地规划的配合、充足的资金与可获得的土地所有权。结论是:政策的制定直接影响土地利用、发展规划、金融系统与个人资产、造成住房由使用品变为投机投资的对象、银行体系信用缺乏保障,最终导致了住房库存量陡增,大量房屋拆除事件与失业率攀升等经济和社会方面的不良影响。

Vapor phase Decarbonylation of Furfural to Furan over Nickel Supported on SBA-15 Silica Catalysts

Vapor-phase transformations of furfural over SBA-15 silica supported Ni catalysts under H2 in a continuous-flow reactor at atmospheric pressure and 170°C and 230°C were investigated. Two different samples having Ni loadings of 5 and 20 wt% (denoted here by SBA-5Ni and SBA-20Ni, respectively) were prepared by impregnation and characterized by atomic absorption spectroscopy, N2 sorption analysis, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Furan and furfuryl alcohol were two primary products resulting, respectively, from decarbonylation and hydrogenation of furfural. Under the conditions of the study, both reactions exhibited structure sensitivity evidenced by changes in product selectivities with variable Ni loadings. Compared with SBA-20Ni, the 5 wt% Ni catalyst showed better catalytic activity, reaching a furfural conversion of 100 mol% and a selectivity to furan of 98 mol%, after 5 h of time-on-stream at 230°C.

Hepatogenous diabetes: Is it a neglected condition in chronic liver disease?

Diabetes mellitus(DM) that occurs because of chronic liver disease(CLD) is known as hepatogenous diabetes(HD). Although the association of diabetes and liver cirrhosis was described forty years ago, it was scarcely studied for long time. patients suffering from this condition have low frequency of risk factors of type 2 DM. Its incidence is higher in CLD of viral, alcoholic and cryptogenic etiology. Its pathophysiology relates to liver damage, pancreatic dysfunction, interactions between hepatitis C virus(HCV) and glucose metabolism mechanisms and genetic susceptibility. It associates with increased rate of liver complications and hepatocellular carcinoma, and decreased 5-year survival rate. It reduces sustained virological response in HCV infected patients. In spite of these evidences, the American Diabetes Association does not recognize HD. In addition, the impact of glucose control on clinical outcomes of patients has not been evaluated. Treatment of diabetes may be difficult due to liver insufficiency and hepatotoxicity of antidiabetic drugs. Notwithstanding, no therapeutic guidelines have been implemented up to date. In this editorial, authors discuss the reasons why they think that HD may be a neglected pathological condition and call attention to the necessity for more clinical research on different fields of this disease.

MRI-Brachytheraphy of Cervical Carcinoma—A pictorial Review for the Radiologist

Exact staging of cervical malignant neoplasms is essential in the selection of the most favorable therapy. MR imaging plays a comprehensive role in primary tumor staging. It monitors response to treatment, detects recurrence and helps in the planning of radiotherapy. patients with advanced disease usually receive external-beam radiation therapy followed by intracavitary brachytherapy with concurrent chemotherapy. Brachytherapy based on cross-sectional imaging, especially MR imaging, improves local control and overall survival. MRI-based brachytherapy allows accurate positioning of the probe and the depiction of the tumor volume contour, which also permits individualized treatment planning. In order to obtain successful radiation treatment, the radiologist must provide the radiation oncologist with adequate knowledge regarding this technique and its possible complications.
