Introduction: Posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV) is considered the mostcommon cause of peripheral vertigo in the emergency department (ED). Although the canalith repositioning maneuver (CRm) is the standard of care, the most effective method to deliver it in the ED hasbeen poorly ***: To compare two protocols of the Epley maneuver for the treatment of *** and methods: We prospectively recruited 101 patients with unilateral PC-BPPV on physical examination, randomizing them to either a single Epley maneuver (Em) (n ¼ 46) or multiple maneuvers(n ¼ 55) on the same visit. measured outcomes included presence/absence of positional nystagmus,resolution of vertigo, and score on the dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) at follow-up evaluations. TheDHI was stratified into mild ( 30) and moderate-severe (>30).Results: Normalization of the Dix-Hallpike maneuver at day 5 was observed in 38% of the single Emgroup and 44.4% in the multiple Em group (p ¼ 0.62). The DHI showed reduction from 42.2 (SD 18.4) to31.9 (SD 23.7) in the single Em group and from 43.7 (SD 22.9) to 33.5 (SD 21.5) in the multiple Em group(p ¼ 0.06). A higher number of patients improved from moderate-severe to mild DHI (p ¼ 0.03) in thesingle Em group compared to the multi-Em group (p ¼ 0.23).Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between performing a single Em versusmultiple Ems for treatment of PC-BPPV in the emergency department. The single Em approach isassociated with shorter physical contact between patients and examiner, which is logically safer in apandemic context.

Experimental studies on phase equilibria and liquidus temperature in the PbO-ZnO-CaO-SiO2-＂Fe2O3＂ system,with the mass ratios of CaO/SiO2=1-1.6 and Fe/SiO2= 1.3-1.7,and 40% PbO and 8% ZnO,were carried out between 1273 and 1573 *** were equilibrated at 1273 to 1573 K and cooled rapidly by *** XRD and SEm-EDS results showed that the slag compositions are in the franklinite primary phase *** and lead silicates are formed between 1373 and 1473 *** Ca/Pb silicate and magnetoplumbite phases are partially formed by an incongruent *** experimental and thermodynamical results showed that the liquidus increased by increasing CaO/SiO2 mass ratio and decreasing Fe/SiO2 mass ratio.

An experimental study was carried out to estimate the effect of the lead impurities on the silver distribution in the phases formed in the lead blast furnace. Samples of sinter with different contents of Cu, S, As and Sb were equilibrated under reducing atmosphere （p（CO）/p（CO2）=2.45） at 1573 K in a tube furnace and slowly cooled. The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and microanalysis （SEm-EDS）. There were five immiscible phases：slag （CaO, FeO and SiO2）, matte （S, Cu and Fe）, speiss （As, Fe and Cu）, Cu-Sb phase and lead bullion （Pb, Ag, Sb, Cu, etc）. The results showed that Cu and Sb promote silver losses during the process since they form a liquid solution with higher silver solubility than liquid bullion. Sulfur and arsenic react with copper to form the matte and speiss phases, respectively. The effect of S and As is to reduce the amount of Cu-Sb alloy and then the silver losses from the bullion.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a common and lifelong disabling gastrointestinal *** treatments are being developed to target inflammatory cytokines which initiate and perpetuate the immune *** is an important modulator of inflammation and its anti-inflammatory effects have been well established in humans as well as in animal *** extracellular adenosine suppresses and resolves chronic inflammation in IBD *** extracellular adenosine levels could be achieved by enhanced adenosine absorption and increased de novo *** adenosine concentration leads to activation of the A2a receptor on the cell surface of immune and epithelial cells that would be a potential therapeutic target for chronic intestinal inflammation. Adenosine is transported via concentrative nucleoside transporter and equilibrative nucleoside transporter transporters that are localized in apical and basolateral membranes of intestinal epithelial cells,respectively. Increased extracellular adenosine levels activate the A2a receptor,which would reduce cytokines responsible for chronic inflammation.

The expression of the genes encoding the ferredoxin-thioredoxin system including the ferredoxin-thioredoxin reductase （FTR） genes ftrC and ftrV and the four different thioredoxin genes trxA （m-type; sir0623）, trxB （x-type; sir1139）, trxC （sll1057） and trxQ （y-type; sir0233） of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 has been studied according to changes in the photosynthetic conditions. Experiments of light-dark transition indicate that the expression of all these genes except trxQ decreases in the dark in the absence of glucose in the growth medium. The use of two electron transport inhibitors, 3-（3,4-dichlorophenyl）-1,1-dimethylurea （DCmU） and 2,5-dibromo-3-methyl-6-isopropyl-p- benzoquinone （DBmIB）, reveals a differential effect on thioredoxin genes expression being trxC and trxQ almost unaffected, whereas trxA, trxB, and the ftr genes are down-regulated. In the presence of glucose, DCmU does not affect gene expression but DBmIB still does. Analysis of the single TrxB or TrxQ and the double TrxB TrxQ Synechocystis mutant strains reveal different functions for each of these thioredoxins under different growth conditions. Finally, a Synechocystis strain was generated containing a mutated version of TrxB （TrxBC34S）, which was used to identify the potential in-vivo targets of this thioredoxin by a proteomic analysis.

In this paper, we present a framework to validate and to correct the location information in crash reports. The proposed system is composed of several modules: creation of intersection network and pre-processing, validation, snapping, updating, and *** proposed system utilizes GPS coordinates(latitude/longitude), primary and reference road names, primary direction, and distance to the reference road. The algorithm starts at an initial GPS coordinate provided in the crash report. Additional location information is utilized in case this coordinate does not satisfy certain criteria. After verification of the road names, the correct snapping location is determined using the primary direction and primary distance information. At the final stage, the attributes in the crash data are retrieved from the base map given the snapping point. We tested the proposed system by three different test data sets. The number of correctly identified matches and the average snapping error are calculated for assessment. The experiments show that the proposed framework is capable of geocoding the crashes up to 98% accuracy with the average of 37 feet of snapping error and 64% of the matching records have less than snapping error of 1 foot. However, we observed that considering highly specific cases as an outlier, the snapping error significantly drops. We discuss these cases in detail and propose a remedy as a future work.

Salivary glands provide saliva to maintain oral health, and a loss of salivary gland function substantially decreases quality-of-life. Understanding the biological mechanisms that generate salivary glands during embryonic development may identify novel ways to regenerate function or design artificial salivary glands. This review article summarizes current research on the process of branchingmorphogenesis of salivary glands, which creates gland structure during development. We highlight exciting new advances and opportunities in studies of cell-cell interactions, mechanical forces, growth factors, and gene expression patterns to improve our understanding of this important process.
