While waveguide-based light concentrators offer significant advantages,their application has not been considered an interesting option for assisting multijunction or other two-terminal tandem solar *** this study,we present a simple yet effective approach to enhancing the output power of transfer-printed multijunction InGaP/GaAs solar *** utilizing a simply combinable waveguide concentrator featuring a coplanar waveguide with BaSO4 Mie scattering elements,we enable the simultaneous absorption of directly illuminated solar flux and indirectly waveguided *** deployment of cells is optimized for front-surface photon collection in monofacial *** systematic comparisons across various waveguide parameters,supported by both experimental and theoretical quantifications,we demonstrate a remarkable improvement in the maximum output power of a 26%-efficient cell,achieving an enhancement of~93%with the integration of the optimal scattering ***,a series of supplementary tests are conducted to explore the effective waveguide size,validate enhancements in arrayed cell module performance,and assess the drawbacks associated with rear *** findings provide a comprehensive understanding of our proposed approach towards advancing multi-junction photovoltaics.

Impact of Fusobacterium nucleatum in the gastrointestinal tract on natural killer cells

BACKGROUND Gut microbial dysbiosis contributes to the development and progression of colorectal cancer(CRC).Natural killer(NK)cells are involved in early defense mechanisms to kill infective pathogens and tumor cells by releasing chemokines and *** better understand the relationship between the gut microbiome and CRC,it was hypothesized here that a high abundance of Fusobacterium nucleatum(***)in the gastrointestinal tract could cause reduced NK cell *** To identify associations between gastrointestinal tract *** levels and NK cell *** In vitro experiments were performed on NK cells treated with ***,Peptostreptococcus anaerobius,and Parvimonas micra to identify the effects of gut microbiome species on NK *** 24 and 48 h of treatment,NK cell counts were *** parallel studies,C57BL/6 mice were given broadspectrum antibiotics in their drinking water to reduce resident gut *** 3 wk,the mice received the various bacterial species or phosphate-buffered saline(PBS)via oral gavage every 2 d for 6 *** the study end,blood samples were acquired to perform NK cell activity assessment and cytokine *** tissues were collected and analyzed via immunohistochemistry(IHC).RESULTS The data show that after 3 wk of broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment,levels of total bacteria and *** were markedly decreased in *** of *** significantly decreased NK cell activity relative to the activities of cells from mice treated with antibiotics only and *** administration of *** decreased the proportion of NK46+cells based on IHC staining and increased the production of interleukin-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α.CONCLUSION High levels of *** in the gastrointestinal tract reduced NK cell activity in mice,and the decrease in NK cell activity might be affected by increased proinflammatory cytokines after *** treatment.

Early-stage primary signet ring cell carcinoma of the colon

Primary signet ring cell carcinoma of the colorectum detected at an early stage is very rare; most cases are detected at an advanced stage. Therefore, its progno-sis is poorer than that of ordinary colorectal cancer. A 56-year-old Korean man was seen at this hospital for management of signet ring cell carcinoma of the co-lon. Colonoscopic examination revealed a Ⅱa-like, ill-defined and flatly elevated 9-mm residual tumor in the cecum. Endoscopic mucosal resection was preformed. Pathological examination of the resected specimen re-vealed signet ring cell carcinoma that had invaded the lamina propria without venous or perineural invasion. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) and positron CT showed no evidence of primary lesions or distant me-tastasis. An additional laparoscopic right-hemicolectomy was performed; no residual tumor or lymph node me-tastasis was found. We report a case of primary signet ring cell carcinoma of the colon detected at an early stage and provide a review of the literature.

AIM: To identify whether the forceps estimation is more useful than visual estimation in the measurement of colon polyp ***: We recorded colonoscopy video clips that included scenes visualizing the polyp and scenes using open biopsy forceps in association with the polyp, which were used for an exam. A total of 40 endoscopists from the Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam Intestinal Study Group Society(BIGS) participated in this study. Participants watched 40 pairs of video clips of the scenes for visual estimation and forceps estimation, and wrote down the estimated polyp size on the exam paper. When analyzing the results of the exam, we assessed interobserver differences, diagnostic accuracy, and error range in the measurement of the polyp size.R E S U LT S : The overall intra-class correlation coefficients(ICC) of inter-observer agreement for forceps estimation and visual estimation were 0.804(95%CI: 0.731-0.873, P < 0.001) and 0.743(95%CI: 0.656-0.828, P < 0.001), respectively. The ICCs of each group for forceps estimation were higher than those for visual estimation(Beginner group, 0.761 vs 0.693; Expert group, 0.887 vs 0.840, respectively). The overall diagnostic accuracy for visual estimation was 0.639 and for forceps estimation was 0.754(P < 0.001). In the beginner group and the expert group, the diagnostic accuracy for the forceps estimation was significantly higher than that of the visual estimation(Beginner group, 0.734 vs 0.613, P < 0.001; Expert group, 0.784 vs 0.680, P < 0.001, respectively). The overall error range for visual estimation and forceps estimation were 1.48 ± 1.18 and 1.20 ± 1.10, respectively(P < 0.001). The error ranges of each group for forceps estimation were significantly smaller than those for visual estimation(Beginner group, 1.38 ± 1.08 vs 1.68 ± 1.30, P < 0.001; Expert group, 1.12 ± 1.11 vs 1.42 ± 1.11, P < 0.001, respectively).CONCLUSION: Application of the open biopsy forceps method when measuring colon polyp size could help reduce int

Association between Job Satisfaction and Stress or Depressive Symptom of Employed Persons with Disabilities:Findings from the Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled 2016–2023

Background:This study conducted a longitudinal analysis of the association between job satisfaction and stress or depressive symptoms of employed persons with disabilities(PWDs)based on the data from the 1st to 8th Pannel Survey of Employment for the Disabled(PSED).Methods:After excluding missing values,data on 1614 participants at baseline(1st wave)were analyzed using the chi-square test and generalized estimating equation(GEE)model for data from 1st to ***:It was found that for each one-unit increase in the job satisfaction score,the stress scale decreased by 0.004(B:−0.004,95%CI:−0.006–−0.002,p-value:<0.0001).Compared to the very high job satisfaction group,the low job satisfaction group was more likely to experience perceived stress(odds ratio[OR]:2.127,p-value:0.001)and experience depressive symptoms(OR:3.557,p-value<0.0001).Furthermore,in terms of the overall satisfaction with their current job among the PWDs,compared to the‘satisfied’group,the‘unsatisfied’group had higher perceived stress(OR:1.593,p-value<0.0001)and depressive symptoms(OR:2.688,p-value<0.0001).Conclusions:There was a close association between job satisfaction and stress or depressive symptoms among employed *** study’s findings may serve as foundational research to support improving mental health in this *** addition,it is anticipated that these findings can be used as evidence to improve the work environment for PWDs within the context of Korean corporate culture.

Association between Occupational Change Trajectories and Mental Health: Results from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging

Objectives:This study was to longitudinally investigate the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health in the Korean population aged 45 years and older from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLo-SA).Methods:After excluding missing values,the data of 6,224 participants from thefirst to eighth waves of the KLo-SA were analyzed using t-test,Analysis of variance(ANOVA),Group-based Trajectory Model(GBTM)from 1–5th KLoSA and Time-Lagged Generalized estimating equation(GEE)model from 5–8th KLoSA to analyze the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health in the Korean population aged 45 years and ***:An analysis of the association between occupational change trajectories and mental health demonstrated that,among all age group,the“sustained in unemployment”group had a worse MMSE and CESD score compared to“sustained WC”*** the under-54 age group,those aged≥55 years demonstrated reductions in the MMSE and CESD scores in the sustained unemployment and the changed working condition from Standard BC to Unemployment groups,whereas those who underwent a change from the Standard WC to unemployment group only demonstrated a reduction in MMSE ***:There was a close relationship between occupational change trajectories and mental ***,this study can serve as the foundation for policies and institutional measures to manage the deteriorate mental health in the late middle-aged and older population.

Simulation model for electron irradiated IGZO thin film transistors

An efficient drain current simulation model for the electron irradiation effect on the electrical parameters of amorphous In–Ga–Zn–O（IGZO） thin-film transistors is developed. The model is developed based on the specifications such as gate capacitance, channel length, channel width, flat band voltage etc. Electrical parameters of un-irradiated IGZO samples were simulated and compared with the experimental parameters and 1 kGy electron irradiated parameters. The effect of electron irradiation on the IGZO sample was analysed by developing a mathematical model.

Theoretical physics foretells that ＂strain engineering＂ of graphene could hold the key to finding treasures still hidden in two-dimensional （2D） condensed matter physics and commercializing graphene-based devices. However, to produce strained graphene in large quantities is not an easy task by any means. Here, we demonstrate that thermal annealing of graphene placed on various substrates could be a surprisingly simple method for preparing strained graphene with a large area. We found that enhanced graphene-substrate interfacial adhesion plays a critical role in developing strained graphene. Creative device architectures that consider the thermal mismatch between graphene and the target substrate could enable the resulting strain to be intentionally tailored. We believe that our proposed method could suggest a shortcut to realization of graphene straintronics.

Superior mesenteric vein thrombosis induced by influenza infection:A case report

BACKGROUND Among the various types and causes of mesenteric ischemia,superior mesenteric vein(SMV)thrombosis is a rare and ambiguous *** a patient presents with SMV thrombosis,past medical history should be reviewed,and the patient should be screened for underlying *** thrombosis may also occur due to systemic *** this report,we describe a case of SMV thrombosis complicated by influenza B *** SUMMARY A 64-year-old male visited the hospital with general weakness,muscle aches,fever,and abdominal *** patient underwent computed tomography(CT)and was diagnosed with SMV *** the patient’s muscle pain and fever could not be explained by the SMV thrombosis,the clinician performed a test for influenza,which produced a positive result for influenza *** patient had a thrombus in the SMV only,with no invasion of the portal or splenic veins,and was clinically *** treatment was prescribed without surgery or other *** follow-up CT scan showed improvement,and the patient was subsequently discharged with continued oral anticoagulant *** This case provides evidence that influenza may be a possible risk factor for SMV *** unexplained abdominal pain is accompanied by an influenza infection,examination of an abdominal CT scan may be necessary to screen for possible SMV thrombosis.

Second-line bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication and impact of diabetes

To investigate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication rates using second-line bismuth-containing quadruple therapy and to identify predictors of eradication *** study included 636 patients who failed first-line triple therapy and received 7 d of bismuth-containing quadruple therapy between January 2005 and December 2015. We retrospectively demonstrated H. pylori eradication rates with respect to the year of therapy as well as demographic and clinical factors. H. pylori eradication was confirmed by a 13C-urea breath test or a rapid urease test at least 4 wk after the completion of bismuth-based quadruple therapy: proton pump inhibitor, metronidazole, bismuth, and *** overall eradication rates by intention-to-treat analysis and per-protocol analysis were 73.9% (95%CI: 70.1%-77.4%) and 94.5% (95%CI: 92.4%-96.5%), respectively. Annual eradication rates from 2005 to 2015 were 100.0%, 92.9%, 100.0%, 100.0%, 100.0%, 97.4%, 100.0%, 93.8%, 84.4%, 98.9%, and 92.5%, respectively, by per-protocol analysis. A multivariate analysis showed that diabetes mellitus (OR = 3.99, 95%CI: 1.56-10.20, P = 0.004) was associated with H. pylori eradication therapy *** second-line bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for H. pylori infection is still effective in Korea, and diabetes mellitus is suggested to be a risk factor for eradication failure.
