Recently, Zhang et al.(2019) have managed to provide abundant evidence to support long-held theories regarding mechanisms of inbreeding depression and potential effects of heterosis that are likely to have a considerable impact on potato breeding in the future (Figure 1). Despite its large genetic variation regarding yield, harvest index, and water use efficiency, potato breeding has attained only negligible advances in the most important breeding goals such as yield, tuber quality, and abiotic stress tolerance, and only modest progress in pathogen resistance. This low level of improvement is clearly due to the complexity of breeding a heterozygous tetraploid outbreeder rather than to the lack of genetic potential available in wild and cultivated material. In contrast, breeding at the diploid level, in particular in combination with self-compatibility, will allow the fixation of beneficial alleles to homozygosity.

Many patients with pancreas cancer present with locally advanced pancreatic cancer(LAPC).The principle tools used for diagnosis and staging of LAPC include endoscopic ultrasound,axial imaging with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging,and diagnostic *** definition of resectability has historically been vague,as there is considerable debate and controversy as to the definition of *** the patient with LAPC,there is some level of involvement of the surrounding vascular structures,which include the superior mesenteric artery,celiac axis,hepatic artery,superior mesenteric vein,or portal *** feasible,most surgeons would recommend possible surgical resection for patients with borderline LAPC,with the goal of an R0 *** initially unresectable LAPC,neoadjuvant should be strongly ***,these patients should be offered neoadjuvant therapy,and the tumor should be assessed for possible response and eventual *** efficacy of neoadjuvant therapy with this approach as a bridge to potential curative resection is broad,ranging from 3%-79%.The different modalities of neoadjuvant therapy include sin-gle or multi-agent chemotherapy combined with radiation,chemotherapy alone,and chemotherapy followed by chemotherapy with *** review focuses on patients with LAPC and addresses recent advances and controversies in the field.

Pancreatic cancer（PCA） is one of the most aggressive tumors with few effective treatment modalities. It is the 4th and 7th leading cause of cancer death in the United States and China, respectively. At the time of diagnosis, only 20% of cases present with a resectable tumor, and about 40% with a locally advanced tumor that is considered unresectable. Even resected patients still have a poor prognosis, with an incidence of local recurrence ranging from 20% to 60%. It is also reported that up to 30% of PCA patients die from locally obstructive disease with few or no distant metastases. These findings have highlighted the importance of local radiation therapy in the treatment of PCA. As the role of conventional chemoradiotherapy remains controversial, the dawn of the pancreas stereotactic body radiation therapy（SBRT） era represents a potential paradigm shift in the management of PCA. SBRT delivers a higher biological effective dose to the tumor with sharp dose escalation in a shorter treatment time course. Pancreas SBRT is a novel therapeutic option to achieve local tumor control with minimal toxicity. Herein, we review the advancement of SBRT for PCA patients with different stages of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

We report the synthesis of isotopically-labeled graphite films on nickel substrates by using cold-wall chemical vapor deposition(CVD).During the synthesis,carbon from^(12)C-and^(13)C-methane was deposited on,and dissolved in,a nickel foil at high temperature,and a uniform graphite film was segregated from the nickel surface by cooling the sample to room *** and transmission electron microscopy,micro-Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray diffraction prove the presence of a graphite *** graphene films obtained from such isotopically-labeled graphite films by mechanical methods have electron mobility values greater than 5000 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1)at low ***,such films exhibit the half-integer quantum Hall effect over a wide temperature range from 2 K to 200 K,implying that the graphite grown by this cold-wall CVD approach has a quality as high as highly oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG).The results from transport measurements indicate that^(13)C-labeling does not significantly affect the electrical transport properties of graphene.

Surface ozone(O3)is a secondary pollutant harmful to human health and a greenhouse gas which is one of the prime climate *** to the clean atmospheric environment of the Antarctic region and given the complexity of O3 chemistry,the observation of surface O3 variability in this region is necessary in the quest to better understand the potential sources and sink of polar surface *** this paper,we highlighted our observations on O3 variability at the Great Wall Station(GWS)during austral summer in December 2018 and january *** continuous surface O3 measurement at the GWS,Antarctica was carried out using the Ecotech Ozone *** understand the roles of the meteorological conditions on the temporal variations of O3,meteorological data was obtained from the conventional auto-observational station at the *** Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory(HYSPLIT)model was employed to investigate the air mass transport over the *** observed austral summer surface O3 concentrations at the GWS exhibited variability and were significantly lower than those previously observed at other permanent coastal stations in *** surface ozone variability at the GWS was strongly influenced by the synoptic change of air mass origin although the roles of photochemistry production and destruction were still *** characteristics and stable surface O3 characterized the air masses that reached the *** unique characteristic of surface O3 at the coastal site of GWS was emphasized by its synoptic air mass characteristics,which displayed a significant influence on surface O3 *** mass that traveled over the ocean with relatively shorter distance was linked to the lower O3 level,whereby the marine transport of reactive bromine(Br)species was thought to play a significant role in the tropospheric chemistry that leads to O3 ***,the diurnal variation indicated that the O3 background concentration levels were n

This study investigated the deterioration of a lubricant-infused anodic aluminium oxide surface in a 1M NaCl solution for~200 *** observation by cryo-SEM and quantitative analyses by UV spectroscopy and EIS revealed that the long-term deterioration of the lubricant-infused surface was divided into two stages:the surface-adhered lubricant layer gradually dissolved at a constant rate until the substrate was exposed;afterwards the lubricant infused in the nanochannels began to diffuse and was depleted after~200 *** EIS results also revealed that the defects reduced the corrosion resistance of the lubricant-infused surface considerably.
