Semen from 10 932 male partners of infertile couples was analysed and sperm parameter trends were evaluated at the Reproduction Biology Laboratory of the University Hospital of Marseille （France） between 1988 and 2007. After 3-6 days of abstinence, semen samples were collected. Measurements of seminal fluid volume, pH, sperm concentration, total sperm count, motility and detailed morphology of spermatozoa were performed. Sperm parameters were analysed on the entire population and in men with normal total numeration （〉~ 40 million per ej.culate）. The whole population demonstrated declining trends in sperm concentration （1.5% per year）, total sperm count （1.6% per year）, total motility （0.4% per year）, rapid motility （5.5% per year） and normal morphology （2.2% per year）. In the group of selected samples with total normal sperm count, the same trends of sperm quality deterioration with time were observed. Our results clearly indicate that the auality of semen decreased in this population over the study period.

In a previous study, we showed that patients with muscular dystrophies (MDs) perceive passive movements, experience sensations of illusory movement induced b y muscle tendon vibration, and have proprioceptive- regulated sways in response to vibratory stimulation applied to the neck and ankle muscle tendons. These fi ndings argue for preserved proprioceptive functions of muscle spindles. However, it is unclear whether the function of intrafusal muscle fibers is spared, i.e., whether they retain their ability to contract when submitted to a fusimotor dri ve. To answer this question, we analyzed the effects of reinforcement maneuvers (mental computation and the j.ndrassik maneuver) that are known to increase musc le spindle sensitivity via fusimotor drive in healthy subj.cts. Nine patients wi th different MDs participated in the study. Reinforcement maneuvers increased bo th the mean amplitude of the Achilles tendon reflex (187 ± 52.9% of the mean control amplitude) and the sensitivity of muscle spindle afferents to imposed mo vements of the ankle. The same reinforcement maneuvers failed to alter the ampli tude of the Hoffmann reflex in the triceps surae muscle. These results suggest t hat the intrafusal muscle fibers preserve their contractile abilities in slowly progressive MDs. The reasons for a differential impairment of intrafusal and ext rafusal muscle fibers and the clinical implications of the present results are d iscussed.

＜正＞ The expansion to date of concrete from a structure in service affected by alkali-silica reactivity （ASR） is a crucial parameter in the evaluation of this structure. In a first phase, relationships were obtained in laboratory between the expansion generated by ASR and the "Stiffness Damage Test" （SDT）, the "Damage Rating Index" （DRI）, and the surface cracking of concrete specimens made with various reactive aggregates and kept in the laboratory under constant conditions of high temperature and humidity. A second phase allowed verifying the validity of these relationships in the case of concrete elements made in laboratory but exposed outdoors. This second phase allowed to highlight the very random character of the surface cracking, very important distinctions between the laboratory concrete and the exposed concrete concerning the defects observed during the DRI test, while recognizing the higher reliability of the SDT method, and this despite the large influence of the type of reactive aggregate involved on the results of this test. The third part of the study had the goal of applying the three methods studied to three structures in service affected by ASR in the Quebec City area （Canada）, all made with siliceous limestone aggregates. This time, the surface cracking allowed estimating rather well the expansion of the concrete involved provided it was measured on the most exposed sections of the structures under study. The DRI did not allow in the present case to differentiate the most visually and mechanically affected concretes from the ones that are less affected. The SDT method proved to be the most interesting for the evaluation of the expansion to date of concrete structures affected by ASR even if it is aggregate-dependent and seems to underestimate expansions in the case of pre-stressed elements.

通过测量生长速率与几个在宽阔范围内变化的生长参数的关系,来研究以三氯化砷输运方法进行的砷化镓汽相生长。研究了源的过饱和度、淀积温度和进入系统的三氯化砷分压的影响。生长实验主要是在(100)晶面上做的,在(110)晶面上也做了一些实验。实验数据可估价在非通常条件下(即:低温、低过饱和度以及宽阔范围的三氯化砷分压)生长的可能性。在这些条件下,以很高的生长速率获得了纯的材料。所有实验结果都能用包括表面吸附层的动力学控制的生长机理做定性说明。
