有研究证实,维生素D缺乏和甲状旁腺激素(PTH)过高与高血压的发生密切相关。维生素D缺乏不仅可以影响肾素血管紧张素系统及PTH水平,而且可以直接参与血管炎性反应,影响高血压的发生发展。PTH可以通过促进血管炎性反应及血管钙化等参与高血压的进展。目前还没有前瞻性研究同时评估维生素D和PTH水平与高血压发病的关系。该研究分析多民族动脉粥样硬化研究的前瞻性数据,发现低水平25羟维生素D[25(OH)D]和高水平PTH与高血压发病相关,特别是在肥胖人群中。但在校正混杂因素后,25(OH)D水平与高血压发病的相关性无统计学意义,而PTH水平与高血压发病仍然相关。鉴于维生素D缺乏和PTH过量在人群中是普遍现象,该研究对于更好地了解高血压发病机制,在人群中开展高血压预防工作有重要意义。

The aim of this study was to assess the ability of Nile tilapia to balance its own diet, when two ingredient mixes were offered, using carbon stable isotopes. In order to accomplish that, 225 Nile tilapia juveniles （average initial weight 5.0 g ± 0.5 g） were distributed in five tanks, each containing a group of 45 fish. One group of fish were fed exclusively with a high protein mix （HPM; δ^13C = -22.62‰）, the second one fed only with a low protein mix （LPM; δ^13C = -14.34‰）. The other groups had free access to both mixes （free choice system）. The fish from all tanks were fed four times a day. Muscle, liver and blood samples were collected at each five days （from 2 fish/tank/collection） for 86 days, except for the fish fed with LPM （fed for a 120 days period）. The samples were analyzed in a mass spectrometer and proportions of the mixes consumed were estimated through its carbon isotope enrichment （δ^13C）. Energy intake slightly decreased after the 50th day and protein consumption increased after the same period. However, consumption did not present a clear pattern in relation to the individual weight, i.e., protein consumption patterns are mainly related to the age of the individuals and it is not clear if it is also correlated to their weight. Additionally, this technique allowed the observation of differences regarding consumption among the individuals from the experimental group.

The authors first prove a convergence result on the Ka(?)anov method for solving generalnonlinear variational inequalities of the second kind and then apply the Kacanov method tosolve a nonlinear variational inequality of the second kind arising in elastoplasticity. In additionto the convergence result, an a posteriori error estimate is shown for the Kacanov iterates. Ineach step of the Ka(?)anov iteration, one has a (linear) variational inequality of the secondkind, which can be solved by using a regularization technique. The Ka(?)anov iteration andthe regularization technique together provide approximations which can be readily computednumerically. An a posteriori error estimate is derived for the combined effect of the Ka(?)anoviteration and the regularization.

Objective. Acid secretion produced by a heterotopic gastric mucosal patch (HGMP) in the proximal esophagus, instead of gastric acid, may be responsible for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), passing the upper esophageal sphincter. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of HGMP in the proximal esophagus in patients with posterior laryngitis indicating the presenc e of LPR in comparison with a control group and to elucidate the possible role o f this lesion in the pathogenesis of LPR. Material and methods. A total of 36 co nsecutive patients with posterior laryngitis diagnosed on laryngoscopic examinat ion were enrolled in the study. Esophagoscopy and ambulatory 24 h intra-esophag eal dual-probe pH monitoring were performed in all patients. During endoscopy, special attention was paid to the proximal part of the esophagus, and the proxim al electrode for pH monitoring was placed in this region under endoscopic view. The control group comprised 660 consecutive patients who had undergone upper gas trointestinal endoscopy for the usual indications. When HGMP was found, biopsies were taken for histological confirmation. Results. HGMP was detected in 5 out o f 36 patients. One out of five patients with patches was excluded from the study because the histopathology of this patient‘s patch revealed antral-type mucos a, which is not capable of acid secretion. Thus a total of 35 patients were incl uded in the study, yielding a HGMP prevalence of 11.4%(4/35). Compared with the prevalence of the control group (1.6%), a significant difference was observed (p bnormal proxim al acid reflux. All of four HGMP (+) patients with posterior laryngitis reveale d significantly higher abnormal proximal reflux compared to the patients without patches (p < 0.05). Conclusions. Objective: To isolate Candida albicans(C. albicans) from the urine of hospitalized patients and assess the virulence factors and antifungal susceptibility profiles of the ***: Yeasts were identified using the chromogenic medium CHROMagar?, the VITEK~?2 system, hypertonic Sabouraud broth, tobacco agar, polymerase chain reaction,and DNA sequencing. The evaluated virulence factors were proteinase production,phospholipase production, and biofilm production on polystyrene. The broth microdilution technique was used to determine the minimum inhibitory ***: All yeasts isolated from urine were identified as C. albicans using both classical and molecular methods. Although 91.3% of the isolates showed no phospholipase activity, 56.5% showed strong proteinase activity and 91.7% produced biofilm. All microorganisms were sensitive to fluconazole, voriconazole and amphotericin b, but 56.5% of the yeasts showed resistance to ***: C. albicans isolates from urine have a high capacity for virulence and can be associated with infectious processes. Furthermore, the high percentage of isolates resistant to itraconazole is important because this antifungal agent is commonly used to treat fungal infections in the hospital environment.

Objective: To evaluate anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus activities of 15 nonalkaloidal compounds from Pterogyne nitens Tulasne(Leguminosae), a South American medicinal ***: Compounds were submitted to antifungal assays, using microdilution method described by Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute document, with minor modifications. Five species of Candida and two species of Cryptococcus, including clinical isolates were screened. Antifungal activity was expressed by minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC). Amphotericin b and fluconazole were used as standard antifungal ***: Among tested compounds, six substances presented fungal growth inhibition(MIC bifolin(1), exhibited potent antifungal activity,demonstrating MIC value of 3.90 mg/m L against Candida glabrata ATCC 90030, Cryptococcus gattii 118 and fluconazole-resistant clinical isolate of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii. Pedalin(2) and nitensoside b(3), two glycosylated flavone derivatives, were active against Cryptococcus neoformans ATCC 90012(MIC = 7.80 mg/m L).Conclusions: Flavone derivatives from Pterogyne nitens can serve as prototypes for the design and development of innovative anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus hits.

The effectiveness of neem (Azadiracta indica) oil on the growth, morphology, sporulation, viability of spores, aflatoxin b1 and b2 production by A. flavus on Yeast Extract-Sucrose medium was determined. Neem oil inhibited the fungal growth (i.e. mycelia dry weight, diameter of colony and growth rate) on solid media at concentrations from 0.5 to 5.0% v/v, although it significantly increased sporulation in the same conditions. Spores obtained from cultures grown without neem oil reduced germination when incubated in a neem oil supplemented medium. Colonies grown on solid media and in submerged cultures in the presence of neem oil exhibited morphological alterations, including granular cytoplasm, atypical hyphae branching pattern, abnormal and undifferentiated conidiophores. High Performance Liquid Chromatography was used to measure aflatoxins. In submerged cultures, neem oil at concentrations from 0.5 to 4.0% v/v caused approximately 95% inhibition in Aflatoxin b1 and b2. On other hand, these conditions failed to suppress fungal growth. Current research emphasized that neem oil was not fungistatic or fungicidal, but exhibited anti-aflatoxigenic activity.
