The development of the nervous system is under the strict control of a number of signal transduction pathways, often interconnected. Among them, the phosphoinositide （Pi） pathway and the related phospholipase C （Pi-PLC） family of enzymes have been attracting much attention. Besides their well-known role in the regulation of intracellular calcium levels, Pi-PLC enzymes interact with a number of molecules belonging to further signal transduction pathways, contributing to a specific and complex network in the developing nervous system. in this review, the connections of Pi signalling with further transduction pathways acting during neural development are discussed, with special regard to the role of the Pi-PLC family of enzymes.

Let i be an interval of positive rational numbers. Then the set S （i） = T ∩ N, where T is the submonoid of （Q0＋, ＋） generated by T, is a numerical semigroup. These numerical semigroups are called proportionally modular and can be characterized as the set of integer solutions of a Diophantine inequality of the form ax rood b 〈 cx. in this paper we are interested in the study of the maximal intervals i subject to the condition that S （i） has a given multiplicity. We also characterize the numerical semigroups associated with these maximal intervals.

Background:in stage Ⅳ breast cancer,surgical resection of the primary tumor was traditionally performed solely to palliate symptoms such as bleeding,infection,or *** ongoing discussion has shown that there are many research gaps in the current literature and differences in clinical ***,this systematic review and meta-analysis was designed to evaluate how primary tumor resection(PTR)affects the overall survival(OS)of patients with stage Ⅳ breast ***:A thorough literature search was completed using different databases(PubMed,Google Scholar,Scopus,ScienceDirect,and Cochrane Library)to find papers contrasting PTR with no *** quality of research articles was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 Tool and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS).Review Manager 5.4 was used to determine how much demographic and clinical factors contribute to heterogeneity through subgroup and meta-regression ***:Data derived from 44 observational studies(OS)and four randomized controlled trials(RCTs)including 227,889 patients were *** all cases,150,239 patients were included in the non-PTR group,and 70,795 patients in the PTR group(37 observational studies and 4 randomized control trials).The pooled outcomes of four RCT studies(Hazard Ratio(HR)=1.03,95%Ci:0.67-1.58;i2=88%;Pi-square 24.57)favor *** pooled outcomes of 43 observational studies showed PTR significantly improved OS(HR=0.66,95%Ci:0.61-0.71;i2=87%;Pi-square 359.12).Additionally,subgroup analysis that compared PTR with non-PTR in patients with stage iV breast cancer for progression free-survival(HR=0.89,95%Ci:0.62-1.28;P=0.03;i2=71%)and locoregional progression-free survival(LPFS)(HR=0.33,95%Ci:0.14-0.74;P=0.0004;i^(2)=87%)was found to be significant favoring the PTR *** progression-free survival(DPFS)had a non-significant relationship(HR=0.42,95%Ci:0.29-0.60;P=0.12;i^(2)=53%),while overall,there was a significant relationship(HR=0.49,95%Ci:0

ZnO films doped with different vanadium concentrations are deposited onto glass substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering using a zinc target doped with vanadium. The vanadium concentrations are examined by energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS） and the charge state of vanadium in ZnO thin films is characterized by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results of x-ray diffraction （XRD） show that all the films have a wurtzite structure and grow mainly in the c-axis orientation. The grain size and residual stress in the deposited films are estimated by fitting the XRD results. The optical properties of the films are studied by measuring the transmittance. The optical constants （refractive index and extinction coefficient） and the film thickness are obtained by fitting the transmittance. All the results are discussed in relation with the doping of the vanadium.

Lensless imaging is an approach to microscopy in which a high-resolution image of an object is reconstructed from one or more measured diffraction patterns,providing a solution in situations where the use of imaging optics is not ***,current lensless imaging methods are typically limited by the need for a light source with a narrow,stable and accurately known *** have developed a general approach to lensless imaging without spectral bandwidth limitations or sample *** use two time-delayed coherent light pulses and show that scanning the pulse-to-pulse time delay allows the reconstruction of diffraction-limited images for all the spectral components in the *** addition,we introduce an iterative phase retrieval algorithm that uses these spectrally resolved Fresnel diffraction patterns to obtain high-resolution images of complex extended *** demonstrate this two-pulse imaging method with octave-spanning visible light sources,in both transmission and reflection geometries,and with broadband extreme-ultraviolet radiation from a high-harmonic generation *** approach enables effective use of low-flux ultra-broadband sources,such as table-top high-harmonic generation systems,for high-resolution imaging.

Mercury in sediments and vegetation in a moderately contaminated salt marsh (Tagus Estuary, Portugal)

Depth variations of total mercury （Hg） and methylmercury （MeHg） concentrations were studied in cores from non-colonized sediments, sediments colonized by Halimione portulacoides, Sarcocornia fruticosa and Spartina maritima and belowground biomass, in a moderately contaminated salt marsh （Tagus Estuary, Portugal）. Concentrations in belowground biomass exceeded up to 3 （Hg） and 15 （MeHg） times the levels in sediments, and up to 198 （Hg） and 308 （MeHg） times those found in aboveground parts. Methylmercury in colonized sediments reached 3% of the total Hg, 50 times above the maximum values found in non-colonized sediments. The absence of correlations between total Hg concentrations in sediments and the corresponding MeHg levels suggested that methylation was only dependent on the environmental and microbiological factors. The analysis of belowground biomass at high-depth resolution （2 cm） provided evidence that Hg and MeHg were actively absorbed from sediments, with higher enrichment factors at layers where higher microbial activity was probably occurring. The results obtained in this study indicated that the biotransformation of Hg to the toxic MeHg could increase the toxicity of plant-colonized sediments.

Background: Patients with end-stage liver disease(ESLD) have a compromised nutritional status because of the liver crucial role in regulating metabolic homeostasis and energy *** sources: A systematic review of literature based on extensive relevant articles published from 2001 to 2017 in English in Pub Med database was performed by searching keywords such as liver disease, nonalcoholic liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, malnutrition, epigenetics, gut microbiota, and ***: Liver transplantation would be one eligible therapy for ESLD patients, even if, the clinical outcome is negatively influenced by malnutrition and/or infections. The malnutrition is a condition of nutrient imbalance with a high incidence in ESLD patients. An accurate evaluation of nutritional status could be fundamental for reducing complications and prolonging the survival of ESLD patients including those undergoing liver transplantation. in addition, the interaction among nutrients, diet and genes via epigenetics has emerged as a potential target to reduce the morbidity and mortality in ESLD patients. The malnutrition induces changes in gut microbiota causing dysbiosis with a probable translocation of bacteria and/or pathogen-derived factors from the intestine to the liver. Gut microbiota contribute to the progression of chronic liver diseases as well as hepatocellular carcinoma. The administration of probiotics modulating gut microbiota could improve all chronic liver ***: This review provides an update on malnutrition status linked to epigenetics and the potential benefit of some probiotics on the management of ESLD patients. in support of this view and to reveal the constant and growing interest in this field, some clinical trials are reported.

A multiscale methodology approach was employed integrating microscopic analysis of the biomasses present in the biocomposite (lignocellulosic and fungal) to understand their macro- scopic response in terms of physical and mechanical properties. Colombian native strain Gano- derma gibbosum , used for the first time in the production of biocomposites was cultivated on peach palm fruit peel flour and sugar cane bagasse wet dust, individually and as a mixture. During the solid-state fermentation were monitoring the change that occurred in substrate composition such as glucan, arabinoxylan, and lignin through biomass compositional analysis using structural car- bohydrates and lignin. Moreover, fungal biomass formation was monitored via scanning electron microscopy. The resulting biocomposites underwent characterization through flexural and water absorption tests. Our findings indicated that G. gibbosum primarily degraded the polysaccharides in each of the evaluated media. However, lignin degradation to 15.06 g/g was only observed in the mixture biocomposite of peach palm fruit peel fluor and sugarcane bagasse wet dust in a ratio of 1 ꞉1, accompanied by a reduction in glucan and arabinoxylan weights to 26.1 and 7.72 g/g, respectively. This polymer degradation, combined with a protein-rich source in the mix- ture biocomposite of peach palm fruit peel fluor and sugarcane bagasse wet dust in a ratio of 1 ꞉1, facilitated the production of a fungal skin (biological matrix) with a high hyphal density of 65%, contributing to Young’s modulus of 3.83 MPa, elongation without failure, and low wa- ter absorption rate in this biocomposite (55%). The lignocellulosic biomass in the culture media acted as a filler for mechanical interlocking with the matrix and provided attachment points for water absorption. Acute hepatitis after amiodarone infusion

Acute hepatitis is a very rare, but potentially fatal, adverse effect of intravenous amiodarone. We present a case of an 88-year-old man with history of ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy and severely depressed left ventricular function that was admitted to our coronary care unit with diagnosis of decompensated heart failure and non-sustained ventricular tachycardia. A few hours after the beginning of intravenous amiodarone he developed an acute hepatitis. There was a completely recovery within the next days after amiodarone withdrawn and other causes of acute hepatitis have been ruled out. This case highlights the need for close monitoring of hepatic function during amiodarone infusion in order to identify any potential hepatotoxicity and prevent a fatal outcome. Oral amiodarone is, apparently, a safe option in these patients.
