Gravel roads are an economi.al choi.e where traffi. volume i. low. Many gravel roads were constructed i. rural areas i. the Kyela di.tri.t and they were well-served for many years. Besi.es the gravel roads, the mai. challenge faced i. the i.sue of unpaved road condi.i.n deteri.rati.n by the behavi.rs of road materi.ls. The study selected three gravel rural roads wi.h a total of 31.24 ki.ometers as constructed roads to gravel standard. The ai. of thi. study was to assess gravel roads condi.i.n to exami.e trends and behavi.rs of gravel roads i. rural areas. A descri.ti.e analysi. was conducted to determi.e trends and behavi.rs of gravel roads. The methods used to collect data were observati.n and physi.al measurement. The results show that there was more than one road di.tress i.enti.i.d and assessed on each study road. i. was noted that all the study roads had excellent to poor di.tress condi.i.ns associ.ted wi.h poor road materi.ls and lack of mai.tenance. Thi. study recommended that road authori.i.s i.prove the current condi.i.n by avoi.i.g the use of poor road materi.ls i. order to reduce surface deteri.rati.n associ.ted.

Background: The world of cancer care i. an emoti.nal place, gi.en the severi.y of the di.ease bei.g treated, the heavy workload, the sufferi.g of pati.nts, and the hi.h number of deaths. The nursi.g staff who work there may be exposed to constant stress from these factors. Thi. study ai.ed to explore the psychologi.al experi.nce of the nursi.g staff of the Medi.al Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospi.al. Methods: We carri.d out a cross-secti.nal study, i. June 2017, i.volvi.g the nursi.g staff of the Medi.al Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospi.al. Results: Si.teen out of 18 nurses were i.tervi.wed. All had worked i. at least one other department pri.r to Oncology. The number of years of experi.nce i. Oncology ranged from less than one year to 13 years. The choi.e of the Oncology department was i.voluntary for 100% of the staff;of these, 62% had i.tenti.ns of changi.g departments. Twenty-fi.e percent had appli.d for a change of department, whi.h was unsuccessful. Stress was expressed by 94% of the staff;93% thought that there was a soluti.n to the stress experi.nced on a dai.y basi. i. the Oncology department. The mai. soluti.ns proposed to manage thi. stress were: support for the staff, provi.i.n of work materi.ls, and staff trai.i.g. Conclusi.n: The nursi.g staff of the Medi.al Oncology Department of the Yaoundé General Hospi.al experi.nces a hi.h level of stress and are i. need of soluti.ns.

Background: Radi.therapy i. one of the mai. therapeuti. strategi.s used i. cervi.al cancer. The fi.st radi.therapy servi.es i. Cameroon have exi.ted si.ce 1987 and sti.l treat by conventi.nal radi.ti.n techni.ues. Wi.h the evoluti.n of radi.ti.n techni.ues, acute, subacute, and late compli.ati.ns are mi.i.i.ed. Our study ai.ed to descri.e the profi.e of si.e effects i. pati.nts wi.h uteri.e cervi. cancer treated by conventi.nal radi.therapy, sti.l used i. our servi.es. Methods: Thi. was a retrospecti.e and descri.ti.e study of the records of pati.nts treated i. the radi.therapy department of the Douala General Hospi.al from January 2015 to December 2019. Data concerni.g radi.ti.n-i.duced toxi.i.i.s were collected usi.g the CTCAE Versi.n 4.0 classi.i.ati.n. Data analysi. was performed usi.g SPSS versi.n 20.0. Results: A total of 270 records were selected. The medi.n age was 54 years. The mean total radi.ti.n dose was 55.9 ± 11.8 Gy and 71.1% of pati.nts were treated for less than 8 weeks. We found a frequency of 66.7% of radi.-i.duced lesi.ns wi.h 99% bei.g acute. The mai. acute lesi.ns encountered were radi. dermati.i. (40%), radi.ti.n cysti.i. (17.7%), and radi.ti.n procti.i. (17.1%). As late lesi.ns, we found one case of vagi.al fi.rosi. (0.4%). Exclusi.e radi.therapy, classi.al fracti.nati.n, and total doses lower than 45 Gy seemed to decrease the toxi.i.y li.ked to conventi.nal radi.therapy. Conclusi.n: The frequency of si.e effects of radi.therapy for cervi.al cancer at the Douala General Hospi.al remai.s hi.h. Early lesi.ns are the most encountered but strategi.s should be put i. place to better evaluate late lesi.ns.

Background: Chroni. Myeloi. Leukemi. (CML) i. a myeloproli.erati.e blood neoplasi., characteri.ed by the presence of a translocati.n between chromosomes 9 and 22 leadi.g to the formati.n of the Phi.adelphi. chromosome. Data on the bi.logi.al profi.e of pati.nts wi.h CML at di.gnosi. are sti.l lacki.g i. sub-Saharan Afri.a, parti.ularly i. Cameroon. Methods: A cross-secti.nal study was carri.d out from January 2001 to July 2016 among pati.nts recently di.gnosed wi.h CML at the Yaounde Uni.ersi.y Teachi.g Hospi.al, the Yaoundé Central Hospi.al and the Yaoundé General Hospi.al. Analyzed vari.bles i.cluded soci.-demographi., cli.i.al presentati.n, the di.gnosi. means, bi.logi.al parameters (hematologi.al and bi.chemi.al). Sampli.g was consecuti.e. Results: We i.cluded 132 (76 males) pati.nts wi.h CML wi.h a medi.n age of 39.2 years at di.gnosi.. The 31 - 45 years age group was the most represented, wi.h 40.9% of the study populati.n. A ri.k factor was found i. only 5 (3.8%) of pati.nts. Cli.i.al mani.estati.ns were recorded i. only 27 (20.45%) pati.nts, wi.h fati.ue bei.g the commonest (10.6%). Almost all pati.nts (128, 96.9%) have performed the karyotype whi.e 22 (16.7%) have performed fluorescence i. si.u hybri.i.ati.n (Fi.H) and 4 (3.0%) the PCR. At di.gnosi., 66% of the pati.nts were i. the chroni. phase (CP), 11.3% i. accelerated phase (AP), and 22.7% i. blast cri.i. (BC). All pati.nts presented hyperleukocytosi., wi.h a whi.e blood cell mean of 128,362/mm3. Anemi. was common (77.3%), usually moderate (61.4%). Thrombocytopeni. was rare (8.3%), as far as basophi.i. 采用中心复合试验设计(CCD)和响应曲面方法(response surface methodology,RSM),探讨了氨氮(0.02～2.00 mg/L)和养殖密度(1～5尾/10 L)对吉富罗非鱼幼鱼生长和肝脏抗氧化指标的联合影响。结果表明,本试验条件下,氨氮和养殖密度的一次与二次效应对特定生长率有显著影响(P<0.05),随着氨氮或养殖密度的上升,特定生长率呈先上升后下降的变化。氨氮与养殖密度之间存在互作效应(P<0.05),氨氮浓度为0.02～0.20 mg/L,养殖密度在1～2尾/10 L时,幼鱼特定生长率较高;而氨氮浓度高于0.20 mg/L,养殖密度在3尾/10 L左右时,生长速度较快。肝脏丙二醛(MDA)含量随氨氮浓度和养殖密度的上升而上升,超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)的活力呈先上升后下降的变化。氨氮与养殖密度的一次效应对MDA含量和两种酶活力均有显著影响(P<0.05),二次效应对两种酶活力的表达有极显著影响(P<0.01);氨氮与养殖密度对CAT活力有互作效应,高浓度氨氮与高养殖密度环境会抑制SOD和CAT活力的表达。因子与响应值间二次多项回归方程的决定系数分别达到0.972 4、0.913 2、0.938 9和0.969 2(P<0.01),可用于预测;氨氮效应对生长和抗氧化酶活力的影响较养殖密度明显。建议在罗非鱼的养殖过程中合理安排好养殖密度,保持溶氧充足,降低氨氮胁迫,提高罗非鱼的生长与抗病力。
