Material Characterization of Ni Base Alloy for Very High Temperature Reactor

The generation of highly efficient electricity and the production of massive hydrogen are possible using a very high temperature reactor （VHTR） among generation IV nuclear power plants. The structural material for an intermediate heat exchanger （IHX） among numerous components should be endurable at high temperature of up to 950 °C during long-term operation. Impurities inevitably introduced in helium as a coolant facilitate the material degradation by corrosion at high temperature. In the present work, the surface reactions available under controlled impure helium at 950 °C were investigated based on the thermodynamics and the corrosion tests were performed in a temperature range of 850-950 °C during 10-250 h for commercial Alloy 617 as a candidate material for an IHX. Moreover, the mechanical property and microstructure for nickel-based alloys fabricated in laboratory were evaluated as a function of the processing parameters such as hot rolling and heat treatment conditions. From the reaction rate constant obtained from an impure helium control system for a material evaluation, it was predicted that the outer oxide layer thickness, internal oxide depth, and carbide- depleted zone depth reach about 116, 600 and 1000 μm, respectively when Alloy 617 is exposed to an impure helium environment at 950 ~C for 20 years. For Ni-Cr-Co-Mo alloy, subsequent annealing and a combination of cold working and subsequent annealing following solution annealing caused increases in the grain boundary carbide coverage and size. The angular distribution of the grain boundary as well as the carbide distribution was also changed leading to a consequent improvement of the mechanical property at 950 °C in air.

Preparation of SnO Nanosheets and SnO_2 Fine Powders by Hydrazine Method

SnO nanosheets and SnO_2 nanopowder were prepared by hydrazine (N_2H_4)-based chemical routes and their gas sensing characteristics were investigated.A SnCl_2-Hydrazine complex (Sn[ N_2H_4)_x]·yH_2O) was formed by a reaction between a SnCl_2 aqueous solution and N_2H_4·H_*** this complex was heat-treated at 450℃,SnO_2 nanopowders were prepared by the decomposition of the *** sensor fabricated from the SnO_2 nano powders showed a good recovery,fast response and high sensitivity for CO 50μg/g (R_a/R_g=1.87),C_2H_5OH 100μg/g (R_a/R_g=4.80),and acetone 100μg/g (R_a/R_g=1.50).SnO nano- sheets could be prepared when a NaOH solution was added to the solution containing the ***_2 nano sheets prepared by the oxidation of SnO nanosheets at 700℃in air atmosphere also showed a good sensitivity R_a/R_g=1.79) for CO 50μg/g at 400℃.The hydrazine method provided an effective tool to controlling the morphology and oxidation state of the tin oxide powders.

Spontaneous resolution of systemic sarcoidosis in a patient with chronic hepatitis C without interferon therapy

A 39-year-old male patient complaining of bilateral hand joint arthralgia was evaluated and found to have chronic hepatitis C and systemic sarcoidosis involving lung, skin, liver, and spleen. Hepatic and cutaneous sarcoidoses were confirmed by the presence of numerous noncaseating granulomas on histological examination. Pulmonary and splenic involvements were diagnosed by imaging studies. Fifteen months later, the sarcoidotic lesions in lung, liver, and spleen were resolved by radiological studies and a liver biopsy showed no granuloma but moderate to severe inflammatory activity, systemic sarcoidosis is a rare comorbidity of chronic hepatitis C which may spontaneously resolve.

Robust and Reusable Fuzzy Extractors from Non-Uniform Learning with Errors Problem

Afuzzy extractor can extract an almost uniformrandom string from a noisy source with enough entropy such as biometric *** reproduce an identical key from repeated readings of biometric data,the fuzzy extractor generates a helper data and a random string from biometric data and uses the helper data to reproduce the random string from the second *** 2013,Fuller et *** a computational fuzzy extractor based on the learning with errors *** construction,however,can tolerate a sub-linear fraction of errors and has an inefficient decoding algorithm,which causes the reproducing time to increase *** 2016,Canetti et *** a fuzzy extractor with inputs from low-entropy distributions based on a strong primitive,which is called digital ***,their construction necessitates an excessive amount of storage space for the helper data,which is stored in authentication *** on these observations,we propose a new efficient computational fuzzy extractorwith small size of helper *** scheme supports reusability and robustness,which are security notions that must be satisfied in order to use a fuzzy extractor as a secure authentication method in real ***,it conceals no information about the biometric data and thanks to the new decoding algorithm can tolerate linear *** on the non-uniform learning with errors problem,we present a formal security proof for the proposed fuzzy ***,we analyze the performance of our fuzzy extractor scheme and provide parameter sets that meet the security *** a result of our implementation and analysis,we show that our scheme outperforms previous fuzzy extractor schemes in terms of the efficiency of the generation and reproduction algorithms,as well as the size of helper data.

Background:Bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) is a fundamental pathophysiological characteristic of *** several factors such as airway caliber can affect BHR,no study has established age-dependent cutoff values of BHR to methacholine for the diagnosis of asthma in *** investigated the cutoff values of the methacholine challenge test (MCT) in the diagnosis of asthma according to ***:A total of 2383 individuals aged from 6 to 15 years old were included in this *** using the five-breath technique were performed in 350 children with suspected asthma based on symptoms by pediatric allergists and in 2033 healthy children from a general population-based *** determined the provocative concentration of methacholine producing a 20% decrease in forced expiratory volume in 1 second from baseline (PC20).A modified Korean version of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood questionnaire was used to distinguish asthmatics and healthy *** characteristic curve analysis was used to assess the cutoff value of PC20 for the diagnosis of ***:Cutoff values of methacholine PC20,which provided the best combination of diagnostic sensitivity and specificity,showed an increasing pattern with age:5.8,9.1,11.8,12.6,14.9,21.7,23.3,21.1,21.1,and 24.6 mg/mL at ages 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,and 15 years,***:The application of different cutoff values of methacholine PC20 depending on age might be a practical modification for the diagnosis of asthma in children and adolescents with asthmatic symptoms.

A manual acupuncture treatment attenuates common cold and its symptoms: a case series report from South Korea

OBJECTIVE: To investigate beneficial effects of manual acupuncture on common cold periods and its symptoms depended on the difference onset time of common cold, within 36 h or over than that. To prove effects of manual acupuncture on common cold, a retrospective chart review was ***: Chart data for patients with commoncold who were treated with only manual acupuncture with fulfilling Jackson scales and satisfaction at the end of each treatment were collected via multi-centers of Oriental hospitals,Oriental medicine clinics and covalent hospital in South Korea. Totally 187 patients were divided into two groups, Group Ⅰ(115 patients, within 36 h)and Group Ⅱ(72 patients, onset time of cold over than 36 h). Finally 120 patients were observed until entire resolution of cold ***: GroupⅠ showed significant decreases themediandurationsofcompletelyrecovery(3 days;95% CI 3.0-4.0) as compared with Group Ⅱ(6 days;95% CI 4.0-7.0, P < 0.001). The manual acupuncture beneficially worked for reduction rate of common cold symptoms by 50% after initial treatment,decreased cold symptoms, and reduced cold ***: Manual acupuncture beneficially affected common cold and its *** it is more susceptibility on the early time of onset cold.

Human periodontal ligament stem cells repair mental nerve injury

Human periodontal ligament stem cells are easily accessible and can differentiate into Schwann cells. We hypothesized that human periodontal ligament stem cells can be used as an alternative source for the autologous Schwann cells in promoting the regeneration of injured peripheral nerve. To validate this hypothesis, human periodontal ligament stem cells （1 × 106） were injected into the crush-injured left mental nerve in rats. Simultaneously, autologous Schwann cells （1 × 106） and PBS were also injected as controls. Real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction showed that at 5 days after injection, mRNA expression of low affinity nerve growth factor receptor was sig-nificantaly increased in the left trigeminal ganglion of rats with mental nerve injury. Sensory tests, histomorphometric evaluation and retrograde labeling demonstrated that at 2 and 4 weeks after in-jection, sensory function was significantly improved, the numbers of retrograde labeled sensory neurons and myelinated axons were significantly increased, and human periodontal ligament stem cells and autologous Schwann cells exhibited similar therapeutic effects. These findings suggest that transplantation of human periodontal ligament stem cells show a potential value in repair of mental nerve injury.
