Recent advances in hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs)expansion by growth factors including angiopoietin-like proteins(Angptls)have opened up the possibility to use HSCs in regenerative ***,the unavailability of true in vitro HSCs expansion by these growth factors has limited the understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanism of HSCs ***,we report the functional role of mouse Angptls 1,2,3,4,6 and 7 and growth factors SCF,TPO,IGF-2 and FGF-1 on purified mouse bone-marrow(BM)Lineage-Sca-1+(Lin-Sca-1+)*** recombinant retroviral transduced-CHO-S cells that secrete Angptls in serum-free medium were used alone or in combination with growth factors(SCF,TPO,IGF-2 and FGF-1).None of the Angptls stimu-lated HSC proliferation,enhanced or inhibited HSCs colony formation,but they did support the survival of *** contrast,any of the six Angptls together with saturating levels of growth factors dramatically stimulated a 3-to 4.5-fold net expansion of HSCs compared to stimulation with a combination of those growth factors *** findings lead to an understanding of the basic function of Angptls on signaling pathways for the survival as well as expansion of HSCs in the bone marrow niche.

Much in-class education and training for developing countries have focused on how a learner absorbs knowledge and skills efficiently or effectively in the class,but are less interested in how the learners should transfer the knowledge and skills into their jobs in their *** principle,in-class education and training have a difficulty with applying the learned knowledge and skills to learners’jobs in the workplace in comparison with any other practical-basis *** overcome this difficulty,many educational stakeholders in the nuclear field have concentrated on how learners can transfer the knowledge and skills absorbed in the class into their jobs in their *** action learning activity for learners can be one of the solutions to apply the knowledge and skills to their job in the *** purpose of this study is to clarify how the transfer of learning has been implemented in the nuclear-related continuing professional educations and training for developing countries in *** accomplish this purpose,this study is implemented as *** first is to define the concept of the“transfer of learning”*** second is to clarify the core elements of the transfer of *** with the clarification,the third is to show how the transfer of learning has been implemented in the continuing professional nuclear-related education and training for developing countries in *** fourth is to present core problems in such education and *** the fifth,this study suggests alternatives to overcome the core problems in the nuclear-related continuing professional education and training.

This study demonstrates multithreshold engineering of a solution-processed heterojunction electrochemical transistor using a blend of n-type CdSe tetrapod-shaped nanocrystals(TpNCs)and an n-type polymeric organic semiconductor(OSC).The unique geometry of TpNCs enables a broad concentration range of charge percolation,where charge transfer between TpNC and OSC domains determines multiple threshold *** OSC domain’s threshold voltage shifts from 1 to−1 V as TpNC content increases,while the TpNC domain maintains a threshold above 1.5 *** allows for stable intermediate states,crucial for multivalued logic *** percolation and photoluminescence studies show selective charge redistribution,shifting the threshold voltages in the polymer *** logic gates,including TNOT,TNAND,and TNOR,based on these heterojunction transistors,were also demonstrated,highlighting the potential of this approach for advanced logic applications.

Background The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,a global health crisis,profoundly impacted all aspects of daily ***,a pivotal stage of psychological and social development,is heavily influenced by the psychosocial and socio-cultural ***,it is imperative to thoroughly understand the psychosocial changes adolescents experienced during the pandemic and implement effective management *** sources We examined the incidence rates of depressive and anxiety disorders among adolescents aged 10–19 years globally and *** utilized data from the Global Burden of Diseases,Injuries,and Risk Factors Study(GBD)2021 to compare pre-pandemic(2018–2019)and pandemic(2020–2021)*** investigation covered 204 countries and territories across the six World Health Organization *** conducted a comprehensive literature search using databases including PubMed/MEDLINE,Scopus,and Google Scholar,employing search terms such as“psychosocial”,“adolescent”,“youth”,“risk factors”,“COVID-19 pandemic”,“prevention”,and“intervention”.Results During the pandemic,the mental health outcomes of adolescents deteriorated,particularly in terms of depressive and anxiety *** to GBD 2021,the incidence rate of anxiety disorders increased from 720.26[95%uncertainty intervals(UI)=548.90–929.19]before the COVID-19 pandemic(2018–2019)to 880.87 per 100,000 people(95%UI=670.43–1132.58)during the COVID-19 pandemic(2020–2021).Similarly,the incidence rate of major depressive disorder increased from 2333.91(95%UI=1626.92–3138.55)before the COVID-19 pandemic to 3030.49 per 100,000 people(95%UI=2096.73–4077.73)during the COVID-19 *** worsening was notably pronounced in high-income countries(HICs).Rapid environmental changes,including heightened social anxiety,school closures,economic crises,and exacerbated racism,have been shown to adversely affect the mental well-being of *** The abrupt shift to remote learning and

Lactoferrin （LF） and retinoic acid （RA） are enriched in colostrum, milk, and mucosal tissues. We recently showed that LF-induced IgA class switching through binding to betaglycan （transforming growth factor-beta receptor III, TpRIII） and activation of canonical TGF-p signaling. We investigated the combined effect of LF and RA on the overall IgA response. An increase in IgA production by LF was further augmented by RA. This combination effect was also evident in Ig germ-line α （GLa） transcription and GLa promoter activity, indicating that LF in cooperation with RA increased IgA isotype switching. We subsequently found that RA enhanced TβRIII expression and that this increase contributed to LF-stimulated IgA production. In addition to the IgA response, LF and RA in combination also enhanced the expression of the gut-homing molecules C-C chemokine receptor 9 （CCR9） and a4β7 on B cells. Finally, peroral administration of LF and RA enhanced the frequency of CCR9＋ IgA＋ plasma cells in the lamina propria. Taken together, these results suggest that LF in cooperation with RA can contribute to the establishment of gut IgA responses.

Background Although smoking is classified as a risk factor for severe COVID-19 outcomes,there is a scarcity of studies on prevalence of smoking during the COVID-19 ***,this study aims to analyze the trends of prevalence of smoking in adolescents over the COVID-19 pandemic *** The present study used data from middle to high school adolescents between 2005 and 2021 who participated in the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey(KYRBS).We evaluated the smoking prevalence(ever or daily)by year groups and estimated the slope in smoking prevalence before and during the *** A total of 1,137,823 adolescents participated in the study[mean age,15.04 years[95%confidence interval(CI)15.03-15.06];and male,52.4%(95%CI 51.7-53.1)].The prevalence of ever smokers was 27.7%(95%CI 27.3-28.1)between 2005 and 2008 but decreased to 9.8%(95%CI 9.3-10.3)in 2021.A consistent trend was found in daily smokers,as the estimates decreased from 5.4%(95%CI 5.2-5.6)between 2005 and 2008 to 2.3%(95%CI 2.1-2.5)in ***,the downward slope in the overall prevalence of ever smokers and daily smokers became less pronounced in the COVID-19 pandemic period than in the pre-pandemic *** the subgroup with substance use,the decreasing slope in daily smokers was significantly more pronounced during the pandemic than during the pre-pandemic *** The proportion of ever smokers and daily smokers showed a less pronounced decreasing trend during the *** findings of our study provide an overall understanding of the pandemic's impact on smoking prevalence in adolescents.

Polystyrene nanoparticles pose significant toxicological risks to aquatic ecosystems, yet their impact on zebrafish(Danio rerio) embryonic development, particularly erythropoiesis, remains underexplored. This study used single-cell RNA sequencing to comprehensively evaluate the effects of polystyrene nanoparticle exposure on erythropoiesis in zebrafish embryos. In vivo validation experiments corroborated the transcriptomic findings,revealing that polystyrene nanoparticle exposure disrupted erythrocyte differentiation, as evidenced by the decrease in mature erythrocytes and concomitant increase in immature erythrocytes. Additionally, impaired heme synthesis further contributed to the diminished erythrocyte *** findings underscore the toxic effects of polystyrene nanoparticles on hematopoietic processes, highlighting their potential to compromise organismal health in aquatic environments.

Objective: To explore the inhibitory effect of water extract from pear pomace on abdominal fat accumulation and its underlying mechanism in high fat diet-fed animals. Methods: Three groups of male C57 BL/6 J mice were fed with a 60% kcal fat diet for 8 weeks. Pear pomace water extract(200 or 400 mg/kg body weight) was administered once daily via oral gavage. To confirm the possibility of the water extract of pear pomace acting as an activator of adenosine 5’-monophosphateactivated protein kinase(AMPK), differentiation of 3 T3-L1 preadipocytes was induced in the presence of the water extract of pear pomace with or without compound C. Body weight, food efficacy ratio, insulin resistance, and adipogenic protein expression were measured. Moreover, in the 3 T3-L1 cells, lipid content and lipogenesis-related proteins were measured using Oil Red O staining and Western blotting ***: Body weight gain and total abdominal fat weight were reduced in mice treated with pear pomace water extract. Pear pomace water extract reduced fasting blood glucose and insulin, thereby reducing the homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance. It also resulted in dose-dependent decreases in triglyceride, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoproteincholesterol. The protein expression of p-AMPK increased, while the expression of AMPK-downstream proteins including PPAR-γ, C/EBPα, SREBP-1 c, ACC, and FAS decreased in the adipose tissue of mice treated with pear pomace water extract. Furthermore, the inhibition of AMPK by compound C blocked pear pomace water extract-induced reduction of lipid content and the expression of lipogenesis-related genes. Conclusions: Pear pomace water extract prevents fat accumulation both in vivo and in vitro by activating AMPK.

The solar energy-driven electrochemical CO_(2)reduction to value-added fuels or chemicals is considered as an attractive path to store renewable energy in the form of chemical energy to close the carbon ***,CO_(2)reduction suffers from a number of challenges including slow reaction rates,low selectivity,and low energy conversion ***,innovative strategies have been developed to mitigate this *** the development of flow cell reactors with a gas diffusion electrode,ionic liquid electrolytes,and new electrocatalysts have dramatically improved the reaction rates and selectivity to desired *** this perspective,we highlight the key recent developments and challenges in PVpowered electrochemical CO_(2)reduction and propose effective strategies to improve the reaction kinetics,to minimize the electrical energy losses,and to tune the selectivity of the catalysts for desired products,and then suggest future direction of research and development.
