Cardiovascular diseases account for approximately 80%of deaths among individuals with diabetes mellitus,with diabetic cardiomyopathy as the major diabetic cardiovascular complication.Hyperglycemia is a symptom that abnormally activates multiple downstream pathways and contributes to cardiac hypertrophy,fibrosis,apoptosis,and other pathophysiological changes.Although glycemic control has long been at the center of diabetes therapy,multicenter randomized clinical studies have revealed that intensive glycemic control fails to reduce heart failure-associated hospitalization and mortality in patients with diabetes.This finding indicates that hyperglycemic stress persists in the cardiovascular system of patients with diabetes even if blood glucose level is tightly controlled to the normal level.This process is now referred to as hyperglycemic memory(HGM)phenomenon.We briefly reviewed herein the current advances that have been achieved in research on the underlying mechanisms of HGM in diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Chirality-dependent concentration boundaries of single-wall carbon nanotubes for photoluminescence characterization and applications

Increasing the concentration of single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)is an effective method for enhancing their luminescence intensity.However,an increase in the concentration of SWCNTs would inevitably increase their reabsorption effect,degrading their luminescence efficiency.Herein,we systematically investigated variations in the photoluminescence(PL)intensity of(6,5)single-chirality SWCNTs while increasing their concentration.The results show that the PL intensity first increased to a maximum and then decreased with increasing concentration.Numerical analysis indicates that the concentration boundary corresponding to the maximum PL intensity was strongly dependent on the ratio of the optical absorbances of the SWCNTs at their excitation and emission wavelengths.According to this,statistical analysis by experimentally measuring the optical absorption spectra of 18 kinds of single-chirality SWCNTs shows that the concentration boundaries of SWCNTs were dependent upon their Types and diameters.The concentration boundary of Type I SWCNTs was higher than that of Type II SWCNTs,and the concentration boundaries of both Types increased with increasing diameter.These results provide important guidance for spectral characterization and applications in bioimaging and photoelectronic devices.

Background:Patients with pneumoconiosis have an elevated risk of contracting pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)and need particular attention.However,extensive population-based studies on the prevalence of PTB in patients with pneumoconiosis have not been reported in China since 1992.This study aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of PTB in patients with pneumoconiosis based on its social determinants and risk factors in China.Methods:Based on the Commission on Social Determinants of Health(CSDH)framework,data were obtained from a questionnaire survey of patients with pneumoconiosis from China’s 27 provinces(autonomous regions,municipalities)from December 2017 to June 2021.By chi-square and multivariate logistic regression analyses,the epidemiological characteristics of PTB in the patients were identified based on its prevalence and odds ratio(OR)and associated social determinants and risk factors.The population attributable fractions(PAFs)of significant risk factors were also calculated.Results:The prevalence of PTB in patients with pneumoconiosis(n=10,137)was 7.5%(95%confidence interval[CI]:7.0-8.0%).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that risk factors included in-hospital exposure to patients with PTB(OR=3.30,95%CI:2.77-3.93),clinically diagnosed cases(OR=3.25,95%CI:2.42-4.34),and northeastern regions(OR=2.41,95%CI:1.76-3.31).In addition,lack of work-related injury insurance(WRII),being born in a rural area,being unemployed,living in western regions,household exposure to patients with PTB,smoking,being underweight,complications of pulmonary bullae or pneumothorax,hospitalization history,and former drinkers among the rural patients were also statistically significant risk factors.Being born in a rural area,lack of WRII and in-hospital exposure to patients with PTB had higher PAFs,which were 13.2%(95%CI:7.9-18.5%),12.5%(95%CI:8.3-16.7%),and 11.6%(95%CI:8.8-14.3%),respectively.Conclusion:The prevalence of PTB in pneumoconiosis remains high in China;it is basically in line with the CSDH m

ChatGPT has attracted extension attention of academia and industry.This paper aims to evaluate ChatGPT in Chinese language understanding capability on 6 tasks using 11 datasets.Experiments indicate that ChatGPT achieved competitive results in sentiment analysis,summary,and reading comprehension in Chinese,while it is prone to factual errors in closed-book QA.Further,on two more difficult Chinese understanding tasks,that is,idiom fill-in-the-blank and cants understanding,we found that a simple chain-of-thought prompt can improve the accuracy of ChatGPT in complex reasoning.This paper further analyses the possible risks of using ChatGPT based on the results.Finally,we briefly describe the research and development progress of our ChatBIT.

Adopting a nano-and micro-structuring approach to fully unleashing the genuine potential of electrode active material benefits in-depth understandings and research progress toward higher energy density electrochemical energy stor-age devices at all technology readiness levels.Due to various challenging issues,especially limited stability,nano-and micro-structured(NMS)electrodes undergo fast electrochemical performance degradation.The emerging NMS scaffold design is a pivotal aspect of many electrodes as it endows them with both robustness and electrochemical performance enhancement,even though it only occupies comple-mentary and facilitating components for the main mechanism.However,extensive efforts are urgently needed toward optimizing the stereoscopic geometrical design of NMS scaffolds to minimize the volume ratio and maximize their functionality to fulfill the ever-increasing dependency and desire for energy power source supplies.This review will aim at highlighting these NMS scaffold design strategies,summariz-ing their corresponding strengths and challenges,and thereby outlining the potential solutions to resolve these challenges,design principles,and key perspectives for future research in this field.Therefore,this review will be one of the earliest reviews from this viewpoint.

A Novel Adaptive In SAR Phase Filtering Method Based on Complexity Factors

Phase filtering is an essential step in interferometric synthetic aperture radar(In SAR) imaging.For interferograms of complicated and changeable terrain,the increasing resolution of In SAR images makes it even more difficult. In this paper, a novel adaptive In SAR phase filtering method based on complexity factors is proposed. Firstly, three complexity factors based on the noise distribution and terrain slope information of the interferogram are selected. The complexity indicator composed of three complexity factors is used to guide the adaptive selection of the most suitable and effective filtering strategies for different areas. Then, the complexity scalar is calculated, which can guide the adaptive local fringe frequency estimation and adaptive parameters calculation in different filter methods. Finally, validations are performed on the simulated and real data. The performance comparison between the other three representative phase filtering method and the proposed method have validated the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Polarization is crucial in various fields such as imaging,sensing,and substance detection.A compact,fast,and accurate polarization detection device is vital for these applications.Herein,we demonstrate a multifocus metalens for terahertz polarization detection that requires only a single measurement to obtain complete polarization parameters and reconstruct the polarization state of the incident field.The individual subarrays of this metalens convert each of the six polarized components into the same polarization,which in turn links the Stokes parameters to these six foci.The incident linear polarizations and elliptical polarizations are characterized by Stokes parameters and polarization ellipses.Simulations and experimental results show that the scheme can accurately detect the incident polarization with a single measurement.The proposed metasurface polarimetry may find applications in the fields of real-time terahertz detection and integrated optics.

With the advance of smart material science,robotics is evolving from rigid robots to soft robots.Compared to rigid robots,soft robots can safely interact with the environment,easily navigate in unstructured fields,and be minimized to operate in narrow spaces,owning to the new actuation and sensing technologies developed by the smart materials.In the review,different actuation and sensing technologies based on different smart materials are analyzed and summarized.According to the driving or feedback signals,actuators are categorized into electrically responsive actuators,thermally responsive actuators,magnetically responsive actuators,and photoresponsive actuators;sensors are categorized into resistive sensors,capacitive sensors,magnetic sensors,and optical waveguide sensors.After introducing the principle and several robotic prototypes of some typical materials in each category of the actuators and sensors.The advantages and disadvantages of the actuators and sensors are compared based on the categories,and their potential applications in robotics are also presented.

li metal batteries(LMBs) are considered as the next-generation energy storage systems because of their high energy density.However,due to the high reactivity of li metal with the electrolyte,the unwanted safety concerns inhibit the practical application of LMBs.To overcome these drawbacks,exploring suitable electrolytes is considered to be urgent.Great effort has been made to modify electrolytes to achieve the stability of LMBs.In this review,different kinds of LMBs are firstly introduced.Then,the regulation of electrode–electrolyte interphase is discussed.Next,recent advances on the functional electrolytes for LMBs are overviewed,including fireproof electrolytes,extreme-temperature electrolytes and high-voltage electrolytes.Finally,the perspective on the development of future electrolytes is provided.
