Observations and analysis of environment and acoustic field changed by the passage of typhoon Damrey in the Yellow Sea in 2012

In order to investigate the environment and acoustic filed change induced by typhoon in shallow sea, we conducted two ex- periments just before and after the passage of typhoon Damrey, which is the strongest to affect the area north of the Yangtze River since 1949, in the Yellow sea in 2012. The data show that the temperature of the whole water column increases dramati- cally except the sea surface layer after the passage of Damrey while the salinity decreases obviously. The thermocline deepens and weakens, which leads to a change of internal wave activity. The transmission losses （TL） of the two experiments show that the environment change induced by typhoon can increase the TL as large as 8 dB at a distance of 9.2 km and depth of 15 m. The scintillation index （SI） of the sound intensity is simulated to estimate the change of the effect of internal wave activity on acoustic field showing that the SI decreases to a half after the typhoon＇s passage. The normal mode structures of the two experiments are also significanOy different due to the thermocline changes. In addition, the signal arrives earlier after the ty- phoon＇s passage due to the water temperature increase.

Perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA)is a widespread synthetic persistent organic pollutant that may enrich along the food chain and affect the growth,development,reproduction,and lipid metabolism of aquatic organisms,particularly the benthic ***-ever,the toxic effects of PFOA on the half-smooth tongue sole Cynoglossus semilaevis,a commercial benthic fish in China,have rarely been *** juvenile fish are sensitive to environmental pollutants,in the present study,histological assessment and tran-scriptome sequencing were performed to determine the short-term impact of PFOA on juvenile half-smooth tongue ***-cal analysis showed that PFOA exposure caused hepatocyte rupture,intestinal villi breakage,increased goblet cell count,and brain *** results showed that some interesting signaling pathways,such as glycolysis/gluconeogenesis,PPAR signaling pathway and GABAergic synapse signaling pathway,were enriched after PFOA *** addition,some metabolic,immune and neural genes were differentially expressed,which including ependymin,hbb1-like and gad 1,and they were up-regulated after 14 days of *** results also indicated that half-smooth tongue sole might improve energy metabolism in response to PFOA toxicity after 7 days of *** findings provide a basis for studying the ecological effects of PFOA on marine benthic fishes.

Effect of liuweidihuang pill and Jinkuishenqi pill on inhibition of spontaneous breast carcinoma growth in mice

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the preventing and treating action of liuweidihuang pill(LP) and Jinkuishenqi pill(JP) on spontaneous breast carcinoma in ***: A model of spontaneous breast carcinoma was derived from 11.5-month-old female Kunming breeding mice following the delivery of several litters. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: model control group(C),liuweidihuang pill high-dose group(LH; 4.6 g·kg1·d1),liuweidihuang pill low-dose group(LL;2.3 g·kg1·d﹣1),Jinkuishenqi pill high-dose group(JH; 4.6 g·kg﹣1·d1) and Jinkuishenqi pill low-dose group(JL;2.3 g·kg﹣1·d﹣1). Cancer tissue volume was measured by water immersion. Histopathology was analyzed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK) and cyclin D1 protein expression in cancer tissue was assayed by western ***: Compared with the control group,cancer tissue volume and weight were lower in the LP and JP groups,and survival time was longer. The expression of VEGF,ERK and Cyclin D1 were inhibited in the LP and JP groups(P < 0.05),and cell differentiation was increased. Tumor weights and volumes and VEGF,ERK and Cyclin D1 expression in LL or LH were significantly lower than in JL and JH(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Both LP and JP could restrain cancer growth and promote cancer cell differentiation;moreover,LP was more effective than JP The likely mechanism of action was via inhibition of VEGF,ERK and cyclin D1.

The aim of this study was to establish an ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry method with positive and negative ion exchange scanning mode for simultaneous quantification of two different skeleton components to reveal the differences among raw and processed Angelicae Pubescentis Radix. The results of methodology showed that each compound had good linearity and recovery rates. And the chemometrics results indicate that there were differences not only in Angelicae Pubescentis Radix samples from different sources but also in raw and processed Angelicae Pubescentis Radix. The results of this study confirm that the method has been successfully applied in simultaneous determination and discovering the difference of two different skeleton components between raw and processed Angelicae Pubescentis Radix for the first time. In short, the method could be an effective tool for detecting the quality of traditional Chinese medicine, and can better reveal the difference between raw and processed Chinese medicine from different sources.

Triptolide-loaded microemulsion-based hydrogels: physical properties and percutaneous permeability

Triptolide is a diterpenoid compound that inhibits the inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).However,the use of triptolide is limited due to its strong gastrointestinal *** purpose of this work was to develop a transdermal delivery system for triptolide to reduce this toxicity.A microemulsion-based hydrogel(MBH)was prepared from the combination of Gemseal 40-oleic acid as oil phase,Tween 80-labrasol as surfactant,anhydrous ethanol as co-surfactant,water as aqueous phase and Poloxamer 407 as hydrogel *** measurements,environmental scanning electron microscopy(ESEM)and transdermal experiments in vitro were used to characterize triptolide-loaded and blank MBH *** effects of Poloxamer 407 and triptolide on the rheological properties and microstructures of the MBH were *** and homogeneous MBH could only be formed when the concentration of Poloxamer 407 in the selected O/W microemulsion was in the range of 14.0–16.0%(w/w).When the concentration of Poloxamer 407 increased,the rheological properties such as the yield stresses(sy),storage and loss moduli(G′,G″)of the formulations increased,and the network structures became more *** addition of triptolide did not change the interconnected network structures of the MBH *** preparations afford a better sustained release profile when compared to microemulsions,a finding confirmed by an in vitro permeation test in *** appears to be a promising vehicle for transdermal delivery of triptolide.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy and underlying mechanisms of action of Kushen decoction on high-fatdiet-induced hyperlipidemia in rats using RNA-seq ***:The efficacy of a Kushen decoction(苦参汤),at a concentration of 1 mL/g of crude medicine prepared according to the method commonly used in clinical practice,was investigated on 24 specific pathogen-free male Sprague-Dawley *** tissues were compared using RNA-Seq *** differentially expressed genes were further investigated by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR and Western blot(WB).RESULTS:Serum triglycerides(TG),liver low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),body weight,body length,and Lee’s index were significantly increased in the untreated hyperlipidemia-induced group(model)compared with the control group,whereas liver highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)was significantly *** TG,liver LDL-C,bodyweight,and Lee’s index were decreased in the high-dose Kushen decoction group(HDKS)compared with the model group,whereas liver HDL-C was significantly ***,liver TG tended to decline in the HDKS *** of the gene expression profiles in the livers from different groups indicated that the Kushen decoction significantly affected metabolic pathways,PPAR signalling pathway,and circadian rhythm(Q≤0.05),with the genes ARNTL,PER3,and CLOCK being differentially *** and WB analysis confirmed the differential expression of the genes discovered by transcriptomics ***:The Kushen decoction may achieve a lipid-lowering effect on hyperlipidemic rats by regulating metabolic pathways and the circadian rhythm pathway and in particular,their related genes ARNTL,PER3,and CLOCK.
